  1. The temps are fine for both the cpu and gpu. The cpu is at 50c and the gpu at 60c.
  2. I play a lot of overwatch and for some reason the game is perpetually stuck stuttering. Essentially, no matter the fps cap I set the game will go a few frames below that and produce a stutter. For example, when I cap my fps at 235 it goes down to 220 and produces a stutter and then immediately shoots back at 235 fps. This happens every few seconds. To ensure this, I capped my fps to 100 and instead the fps goes down to 95 and again produces a stutter. I disabled vsync but it still stutters even with it disabled. I have a gysyc monitor so usually I have vsync enabled. I'm not sure if this is releveant but the problem is amplified while watching netflix on my second monitor. The stuttering is more frequent and severe. For my specs: 1080 ti i5 8600k 16 GB of ram clocked at XMP 3200. I've tried everything to fix it... disabling full screen optimizations and game mode, installing latest drivers, and in fact ended up resetting the PC completely, erasing all the data on it. The issue still is ongoing.
  3. I've become very frustrated after getting a new PC because the problems of the old still affect me. Essentially, my PC constantly stutters in game. No matter what. It's noticeable when nothing but the game is open, but worse when watching youtube videos, and terrible when watching Netflix. I have a GTX 1080 ti, an i5 8600k, windows 10, and a 240hertz gsync monitor. When watching netflix, my game stutters every few seconds. I have my frame rate capped at 234 fps and it usually stays there but when it stutters it drops to 190. I moved my frame cap down to 90 but the game still stutters, but instead going down to 88 fps when it stutters. It only stays there for a second and the rises back to the capped fps but a few seconds later it goes down again and stutters. I disabled vsync, use high performance, checked that nothing is at 100% usage and nothing seems to fix it. I downloaded windows tweaker and that didn't fix it. I reinstalled nvidia drivers and no fix. The only thing that I can think of is that my version of windows is corrupted. These same issues plagued my old PC, and I just downloaded windows onto this PC using a USB flashdrive. Should I get another version of windows or try something else? Thank you because I don't know what else to do.
  4. Hi all! I seem to have an issue where when I have an fps drops of only a few frames the game seems to stutter. I have an alienware aw2518h 240hertz monitor, and cap my game (overwatch) at 235 frames. My monitor has gsync enabled and vsync enabled in the nvidia control panel, It usually stays at my capped frame rate, but when it drops from 235 it creates a pretty noticeable effect. For example, if it only drops a few frames (say 235 to 231), it makes the game lag and creates a pretty noticeable effect. It looks like the game enters double digit fps, even if it only dropped a few frames. I don't know what causes this issue and it drives me pretty crazy. ): I have all nvidia drivers updated and have max performance enabled.
  5. Hi all. I play mostly overwatch. I have a 1080 ti and i5 8600k and all settings on low. I cap my fps to 245 and it usually stays there but sometimes it drops into the the 220s and 30s. When it drops down there, I notice that it gets visibly laggy. Not like its stuttering, but more like low fps. It feels like it is dropping down to the double digits, say 90 fps, when in reality its in the 220s. Here's the weird thing: I never experience any tearing but I get these stutters. I turned off vsync and for some reason im still getting stutters rather than tearing. anyone know the issue? I dont have a gsync monitor. I have a 240hz alienware monitor.
  6. My temps are fine by the way - GPU never exceeds past 60% in usage nor past 70C in temp. CPU usually hovers around 75% in usage, but below 65C in degrees.
  7. I play a lot of overwatch and have should have a gaming PC that gets constantly over 240fps to support my 240hertz monitor. Instead, I usually get around 250 and often drop into the 150s during team fights. I have all my settings on low. I have an i5 8600k clocked at 4.7GHz and a 1080ti. I also have 16gb of 3200 ram. I already went into BIOS and put on the XMP profile. Looking at CPU-Z however, I noticed something strange. MY Row Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC) is super high - 540 clocks. Most people, after researching it, only have around 150 or below. Do you think this is causing the low fps?
  8. When using using prime95 under small FFT's (maximum heat, data fits in L2 cache, RAM not tested much), my temperature rises up to 85 degrees Celsius on average and my core speed on the cpu drops. My speed is usually 4.9GHz, but under the stress test it lowers to 3.8GHz. ' I switched to the blend test (tests some of everything, lots of RAM tested) and my core speed stayed 4.9GHz and celsius was lower on average, being around 75c. However the voltage raised from about 1.28 on the small FFT test to about 1.39 on the blend test. I have an i5 8600k and the CPU cooler Noctua NH-D14 set to full speed, along with four case fans set to full speed. Any suggestions?
  9. Just got a 240hertz monitor but my PC is having trouble locking fps at 240. I play overwatch and while in spawn areas I maintain the 240fps but in team fights I'm not able to. Sometimes I drop down to the upper 100's, and while this isn't terrible I don't have gsync and so I can definitely feel it. (Using free sync monitor with nvidia 1080 ti). Here's the strange part, however. When I turn all my options to epic my fps is not effected at all. I have a 1080 ti, 3200 16GB of ram, and i5 8600k 3.7GHz. I looked at my hardware usage and task manager says my memory usage never goes above 60% and similar with the gpu. My CPU, however, often enters into the 80% usage area. Is this causing a bottleneck thats making it impossible to maintain 240fps? Should I overclock because even at 80% usage I'm maintaining temps of 50 or so.
  10. I'm confused about what a safe temp for my cpu is. Some articles claim that no cpu should ever go above 60c.(https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/desktop-pc/cpu-temp-3498564/) This one recommends between 45-50 and that seems low. Others claim its able to push fowards past 70 and into mid 80s and be completely safe. I'm using an i5 8600k if that makes any difference.
  11. I would assume, however, that would only be true with extremely low voltages. 1.248 is not high but it's also not low by any means. It seems like a standard overclocked voltage for a cpu.
  12. I just got an i5 8600k and immediately overclocked it to 4.5 GHz. I set the voltage to a reasonable 1.248 at a fixed setting. As soon as I hit the "stress cpu" my mouse started lagging, stuttering and flickering. I did it again and looked at realtemp, excepting to see high temps but they never exceeded past 65. Why is my CPU not stable despite it being at low voltage and temps?
  13. Hi all! I play overwatch and I just got a new pc. I have a 1080 ti and an intel 8600k that's currently not overclocked. I put everything on low settings but I'm not able to get a stable 240 fps. This is an issue for me because I have a 240hertz monitor and when i goes below 240fps it messes with my input lag. This is strange to me because on epic I'm able to obtain 200 fps so it doesn't make sense that on low settings I can't maintain constant 240 fps. I think it's because my cpu is limiting me. I checked the stats using MSI afterburner and on low settings my gpu is only 50-60% of itself, but some of the cores of the cpu is at 80%. Will overclock the cpu help with me obtaining a constant 240 fps? Is the CPU the problem here?
  14. True but it is only 69 degrees outside here in Seattle. Also, should I expect a decrease in temps once it enters the night and temp drop?
  15. I just got a new PC. I got the fractal meshify C, which includes two 120mm fans. I got an additional 2 other fans of somewhat high quality - Thermaltake Riing 12. I'm running my 1080 ti at 1900 MHz in game and have the gpu fan set at 78% on MSI. I have the Zotac 1080 ti amp! edition. Standard, not the extreme version. I would think this cooling would be great and keep the card in the mid 70s but in all my games my card is getting to 80-84c which causes it to throttle a bit. Think that there's a problem with my card?
