thanks for that but i found that already, it doesnt answer if the laptop will allow me to use both the m.2 slots and regular sata connections at the same time, since i know some boards will disable sata hdd if a sata m.2 is used.

sorry about the lack of info i wrote this all before i had to be at work... My laptop is a Sager NP8651 / Clevo P650SE, and nevermind their helpdesk gave me the answer: one is keyed for nvme and the other for sata, however both slots can use sata at same time. the only question i have to ask them is if i use the m.2 sata drives can i still use the 2.5 drives too, for 4 drives at once.

my laptop allows for 2 m.2 ssds to be installed, however i believe it only has 4 pice lanes available, if i install 2 nvme m.2s will they both simply use 2 lanes each or will it not work at all? sorry this is the first time i will be installing an m.2 and im just trying to understand better beofre i sink over 250$ into something...
