help Inexperienced builder checking for sanity
Waffle_Loard replied to Waffle_Loard's topic in New Builds and Planning
Switched to a MSI B450M BAZOOKA MAX WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard and also I mentioned earlier that I have an SSD its not just in the parts list. Added 2 case fans to subsidize the case thermals (I like the case a lot and it fits where I need it to)- 12 replies

help Inexperienced builder checking for sanity
Waffle_Loard replied to Waffle_Loard's topic in New Builds and Planning
this is a pc for low price mid range gaming, the cpu was originally going to be a ryzen 5 but I managed to get a good deal on the ryzen 7 instead, I have an older gpu that I'm going to use to at least get the pc running until I can find a decent price on a newer one- 12 replies

build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Waffle_Loard/saved/fp6N6h Hello I am a relatively inexperienced builder and would like a second opinion on this build before risking it and purchasing all the parts. I have an SSD on hand already that will be used, I didn't include it in the part list because I did not want to accidentally purchase another.- 12 replies

I am aware of the lack of a gpu, this is due to current prices being a steaming cow pie, I have yet to find a good price-performance because of this (dedicated GPU is a must so iGPUs are out of the picture) The system is intended to be budget hence the cheap case, I recognize its poor airflow but this should not be a major concern for its intended use case. As for the mobo, would a Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2 Micro ATX AM4 be an adequate alternative? As for the SSD I have a 256 gb m.2 one already on hand its just not on the list to avoid confusion when purchasing parts. thx for the input thus far.

Hi, I'm currently doing a simple build for a friend and ran into a bit of confusing wording when checking out the "Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case". What's getting me is the "mini" part, does this mean its a mini tower or a microATX with mini support or something else I am not catching? second monitor HDMI Male To VGA Female adapter stopped working
Waffle_Loard replied to Waffle_Loard's topic in Displays
The only difference between the two laptops i could see causing an issue is one has and intel igpu (the one that worked successfully) and the other has a intel igpu and a 1050 ti (mine) -

I've had this hdmi to vga adapter for some time now (several months) then it just suddenly stopped working when I went to go plug it back in just a few days ago. When I plug in the monitor to my laptop it does not detect anything unless the monitor is "scanning" for connections, when it does detect it it appears for a moment on my laptops nvidia, intel, and windows display settings then disappears almost immediately, all the while the second monitor is blank and says no signal. My laptop is a Acer Nitro 5 (model no: ANS515-53 1050ti with 256 gb ssd) The monitor is a HP Compaq LA2206x The adapter is a Moread HDMI to VGA (link below) https://www.amazon.com/Moread-Gold-Plated-Projector-Chromebook-Raspberry/dp/B00SW9JI9A What I have tried - Reinstalling and updating everything including windows and drivers - updated bios - tested the monitor and adapter together on another pc with no error - tested my laptop with a hdmi monitor with no error - tested a separate vga monitor using the same adapter and had the same issue The only variable that has changed to possibly cause an issue is a windows update (do not 100% recall if one occurred within the time I was not hooked up to the monitor) and me resetting to defaults on nvidia control panel -
I appreciate the effort however the end that plugs into the headphones is proprietary and has 5 metal strips compared to the standard 4 on a 3.5 mm cable. (as seen in the photo posted)
