  1. The one I have in mind is the B450M MORTAR MAX as it supposedly has fairly decent VRMs. Not entirely sure on the difference between the regular B450M Mortar compared to the MAX aside from the fact the MAX supports 3rd Gen Ryzen out of the box
  2. All of the benchmarks I've seen show only a couple of minutes difference when it comes to 1080p editing, although the gap widens significantly when it comes to 4K editing but I don't really have any plans to do that at the moment. The i3 is capable of video editing, but the experience is less than ideal when doing it on a near-daily basis. Had considered the i7 9700K but going with Intel at the moment just seems like a waste of money.
  3. I have no idea how long it takes with the i3 because I've never tried - I imagine quite a while though, which is why I have no interest in using it for that.
  4. Hello! Hope you're all well. I'm a little stuck on which CPU to pick up this coming Friday. I'm ugprading my current system to make it more suitable for moderate workstation use on top of the gaming it already does - I've already got a Vega 56 (Which I may flash to Vega 64 bios), 16GB DDR4 - Only at 2666 though & an i3 9100F. My understanding is that both the R5 3600 & R7 3700x are very capable chips in terms of both gaming and workstation use. In terms of the workload, the system will be used for 2D game development & 1080p video editing in Vegas in addition to 1080p gaming. In this case, I'm just wondering if I'll actually see any noticeable benefits from buying the 3700x over the 3600 - I know in video editing it'll help decrease render times, but realistically this'll only be by a minute or two, and I'm happy to wait that extra time just to save £100 or so. In terms of 2D development, even my i3 was perfectly capable of handling it - Would be a different story if it was 3D Development, but I have no intentions of using it for that anytime soon. Obviously future proofing is a consideration, but I can't see the R5 3600 becoming obsolete anytime soon. What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello! Hope you're all doing well. So I'm currently in the process of building a fairly powerful workstation PC which is geared towards app development - I'm almost done, it should be complete by the end of October. I've got two upgrades left - moving from an i3 9100F to an i9 9900KF, and buying a 43" Super Ultrawide Samsung monitor. Both of these purchases are going to set me back between £500-£600 each; the problem is I'm not sure which of these I'd benefit more from, which is why I'm unsure which one to prioritise. On the one hand, I do have a 24" Curved VA 1080P panel, which is actually excellent. It runs at 80hz after a 5hz overclock, has 121% sRGB coverage, and has Freesync. On the other hand, I've got an i3 9100F, which, realistically, I'm not sure will be that big of an issue when developing 2D Android & IOS apps in Unity - It's just not particularly capable nor quick when compiling. The question is, really, which upgrade will considerably improve my workflow. I personally think I'd benefit from the monitor more because having one screen whilst working is a bit of a pain, but then if the computer is performing like a slug then a monitor upgrade wouldn't be much use anyway. If you were in this situation, which upgrade would you go for? Bearing in mind I'll be purchasing the one that I don't choose the following month anyway. Thanks guys/girls!
  6. Sorry, I've no idea if this is the wrong/right section? Recently, my email and password has been released somewhere on the internet - I say recently, about 4 months ago i think. I presume it's from a data breach as I'm very careful with which websites I sign up to. Now my actual email address hasn't been hacked as I use a different password for that (They've no doubt tried, though). Problem is, I don't use a different password for every single website or service I sign up to, and over the course of the past 4 months I've probably had 15+ emails from different websites/services about blocked login attempts, or them telling them to change my password due to unusual activity. I've had this email address now for at least 6-7 years, and I've no idea how many websites I've actually signed up to with it - my main concern isn't so much the blocked login attempts, it's related more to the successful login attempts I don't know about, on sites I've completely forgotten I've actually signed up to; people having access to my home address and personal data is the main concern I have. Does anybody here have advice on what to do? Apart from obviously changing my passwords on sites I currently use (Which I have done with the websites I know I've signed up to)
  7. So I have my own YT channel, and currently close to 1k subs; but I need to diversify it a bit as I currently only make FIFA videos - decided to start making a Sea of Thieves series the moment it comes out but I'll be recording ALL of my gameplay. It could well be 6-7 hours of straight gameplay so wondering if it's perfectly sufficient for that. I know Ryzen is effectively better at productivity but personally I want the best gaming experience, but hoping the 8400 isn't poor when it comes to both playing and recording simultaneously. In terms of video editing I'm fine with the 8400 - currently using the 3470 and I've had no issues using Sony Vegas so I see no reason to switch to Ryzen for that reason alone, but if it'll drastically improve a gaming/recording experience then I'll consider the switch! What are your thoughts?
  8. I know nobody here could give me a definitive answer and they'd all be guesses, but... Picking up an i7 8700 in just over 2 weeks, and I read that the budget boards are starting to get listed around different web stores to prepare. Thing is, I know the 8700 is a high end chip, but in terms of motherboards I have next to no interest in many additional features. Won't use SLI, I'm not one for overclocking as I only game at 1080 60fps, and may go up to 1400p 60hz soon, I'm perfectly happy with just 2 RAM slots (2x8GB is enough for me). Only other feature I'd be after is an m.2 slot. I'll grab a z370 board if they're not out by then, which I presume is by far the most likely scenario, but would be nice if I could save a buck or two and invest elsewhere!
