  1. I've resorted to using bios for the fans, I plugged them directly to the board, as far as the pump is concerned I ended up using cam and setting up a custom profile to run 100% all the time, was able to install windows with the USB disconnected and currently the CPU is sitting at 24° c with minimal workload. I've been monitoring temps very closely last night and today I have been using the system lightly without getting anymore crazy spikes. it looks like the default profile for the pump was set to silent mode, which would explain the lack of cooling in bios. I am getting however momentary spikes, usually less than a second where my temp will jump 10° it corresponds with spikes in CPU load. after some research this seems to be pretty typical with the 8700k. all that being said I am using the machine to write this post, so all seems to be okay for the time being
  2. im sure this is correct like i stated once usb is disconnected it will idle around 26-27ºc for as long as the usb stays disconnected, as soon as the usb is reconnected is when I have the problem and it starts to climb again. thermal paste was added and the pump it was installed correctly, it seems to be bios or software related.
  3. I could use a little help, Specs: 8700k NZXT X62 kraken Asus Maximus x hero (version: 0215 x64) 8g 2400 MHz Memory 850W Thermal Take PSU Let me start by saying this is my first build, every thing is working and the build posted fine and got into bios fine, but... my X62 is giving me headaches, when in bios i see a temp spike to almost 80ºc until.. i unplug the usb port from the kraken, my fan speed increases dramatically and the chip actually sits around 26ºc and i can keep in there as long as i need, but as soon as i plug in its usb back into the cooler it immediatley starts to crank back up to crazy levels, i have the 2 pin header plugged into AIO pump and i have the fans for the rad daisy chained, the usb cable is plugged into a usb 2.0 header, and its getting power from sata, all the lights work when the usb is plugged in, in bios the pump speed says its running around 2400 rpm whether or not the usb is plugged in, so i know its not reading the pump speed correctly, it seems that whenever the pump is unplugged from usb it actually operates but when usb is plugged in it shows no signs of operation other than lights. keep in mind i haven't felt comfortable installing windows with the crazy high temps, i can't even sit in the bios for more than a couple minutes without it hitting at least 80º any help would be greatly appreciated! I wish my first post on this forum was on better circumstances Thanks in advance
