  1. I saw yesterday that the old 9800GTX+ has the TDP of 141W, which this means it should work with only 1 six pin because both MB + six pin provides 150W. It has 2 x 6 pins but I connected only 1 and it booted up fine. The second six pin is additional power for OC isn't it?
  2. I've had a lot of antiviruses in the past and the most I liked was Avast. Light on resources, fast scans, it blocks malicious web sites. I haven't used it in 4 years and I don't know how it is now.
  3. You know you don't have to format the disk to install windows again yes? If you have enough space you can install windows in the same partition, the old windows files will all be put in a folder named windows.old. BTW my old Radeon HD 3450 (I had it in 2013) kinda did the same, would crash the windows when installing newer drivers, I had to use 2009-2010 drivers on it to work
  4. Intel page says that the i7-8700 throttles down at 100*C so this means there's something wrong with the cooling and it decreases performance to not get past 100*C. Check if you have thermal paste under the heatsink. If you do, reseat the heatsink, get it off and put it back,be sure the pins are well pushed / screwed. Most likely the heatsink doesn't make contact with the CPU.
  5. Does anyone know what is this and what is used for?
  6. If it boots up and doesn't show anything it's most likely the graphics card. If not, then the CPU or even the motherboard getting faulty. You can borrow a GPU from someone to test if the GPU is broken.
  7. Yo I picked up a PC for 3$ It has Pentium 4 640 3.2GHz 512MB DDR1 400 ATi Radeon X300 128MB 64-Bit 160GB HDD 500W PSU There is a sticker that said that it was bought on 20.10.2005 I miss school man, I used to play Counter Strike 1.6 on such hardware Feels like 2006 all over again But I upgraded ram to 2GB to be able to browse the internet, it was a nightmare before I know nobody cares but I'm TIRED OF THIS GAY SH*T DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE CAN I GET CMEDIA 9880 AUDIO DRIVER FOR WINDOWS 7 / VISTA ? I'M TIRED OF THIS SH*T, JUST WINDOWS XP DRIVERS
  8. You might have rootkits. Download and open a program called RKill and see if this program finds any processes infected with rootkits.
  9. I personally don't think your CPU is faulty because of underpower. It's not like you didn't had any pins plugged. Two pins aren't much. The problem might be elsewhere.
  10. No it doesn't shorter any lifespan. It keeps the interior cooler, because usually GPUs tend to release its heat into the system case. It depends on what you're doing with the pc. If you're the type of guy who wants to play every game on maximum graphic settings at 1920 x 1080 and consider a game not worth playing on lower graphics, then you wouldn't want to use integrated graphics. The Intel HD 530 is a very capable GPU, considering the fact that it's a tiny square in the processor. It can run almost any game including popular games like Fortnite, CSGO, GTA 5. If you don't mind lower graphics you'll be fine with it.
  11. Imagine being 12 years old and your parents walking in while you playing this
  12. The memory heatsink is very hot, you can barely touch it. While the gpu heatsink is just warm and nice I've always planned to get myself some thermal pads but I always hesitate due to the fact that none of the GPUs I bought had torn thermal pads so I thought it's good to go with them. But if the thermal pads weren't working, wouldn't the heatsink be cold? yes cleaned the core heatsink and PCB temperature in load dropped from 68*C to 61*C. The GPU temp is still 94*C. The memoy heatsinks and core heatsink are separate, not two-in-one, I can easily take the memory heatsinks off from the back. I think I'll take the mini heatsinks and new thermal pads. I've never had a GPU this old though, I don't know if the memory getting hot was common back in 2004
  13. I've got an old 6800GT which surprisingly worked but the memory chips are overheating. I've unscrewed the heatsinks, thermal pads on memory chips are intact. The PCB temperature of the gpu is 50*C idle and 68*c full load in Furmark. The GPU temperature is 68*C idle and 94*C load due to the memory chips overheat. The memory heatsinks are hot as hell. Does anyone know how can I get better memory chips cooling on this old gpu?
  14. Overclock - force things to work faster. Examples: GPU overclock is when you increase core clock from 775MHz to 900MHz (force GPU to work a faster 125MHz on graphics, so higher FPS) , or when you increase memory clock from 1100MHz to 1200MHz (force GPU to transfer graphics to memory at a higher speed). CPU overclock is when you increase CPU frequency like from 3.5GHz to 4.1GHz. Overclock is when you aren't pleased with the component and you want more performance out of it. But overclocking also comes with a risk if you don't know what you're doing.
  15. Is a top mounted PSU good?
  16. I've had these coolers to my AMD systems. Actually, it doesn't use screws (idk how did you used screws on it). The CPU socket must have something out of plastic put around it, where in the middle is the cpu socket (photo 1). This is what the screws are used for, for that plastic. watch this video and make sure you install the cooler the same like this.
