I agree! More than length, I hate how one site restricts some characters, another restricts other charters. The longest I use, and remember is "between" 16 and 24 characters, and would NOT work with that example site!!! I just chimed in because I can see people wanting to have longer strings for a PW, and hashing them down to a manageable size is an option. maybe, if they have some kind of usb key system that stores some super long password string, and it's the only place the pw is saved so only one person can access and upload content, like fort knox of channels, idk. XD Side note, I bet that gov site also stores in plain text, that's why they restrict charters, so their login doesn't see charters in a PW as EOL, and freaks out the PW system allowing any PW. >.< idk, I just like encrypting the crap out of things, and the code snippet I shared is part of much more, I made a cross-platform polymorphic encryption script, so the set 128 charter length of sha-512, chr ords, what character is in certain positions in that 128, etc, etc helps with the first part and other times with entropy in my script. BUT, i'm crazy like that! XD

yeah, that is what this was trying to demonstrate, I changed the sha-512 to sha-256 explaining that hashing long passwords to a usable length is an option.

I seen something, and it reminded me of the fanless water cooled system Linus gave a sneak peek of, but said the guy who built it wouldn't let him say what the fluid was.... 3M Novec Engineered Fluid... even though they normally submerge the whole computer in that stuff, why not just focus on the cpu... and it evaporates and condenses and drips back down just like the videos i've seen of that stuff, just in a contained system. And if you think how much that stuff would cost, it makes sense to use as little as possible! 1 to 2 and a half gallons costs $400, 55 gallons cost $15,000 to $30,000... no wonder someone would develop a way to only use a few ounces! * random offtopic thought *

on these Matrexx cases, which is worse, or more likely to cause an issue first? the hand screws, or laches?

I've just lost my perception of Thermaltake outside of their power supplies, I've never gotten a bad PSW and they last forever! but I have never been able to screw the side panel on, the holes don't line up! everything else does feel real nice about it, but those screws! lol they are so thin and ehh, the screws holding on the motherboard are a bigger gage! lol

I've seen linus do budget stuff, so didn't think this would be to low budget to be out of the realm of the community. That is how I got the Windows 10 keys, I forgot a laptop in all that, my laptop is the only device that got Windows 10 free <.< lol, but it came with Win8 so the key is in the bios. I might have to roll it back to Win7! it's installing the malware update, then after that it's the cumulative update.

I'm not sure it's it's still installing updates, it stops on the black screen with the windows logo, nothing else, no spinning dots, no "updating do not turn off", yeah, I have 150mbps cox cable. I'm having issues with that, but I think the modem is dying again, we consume close to our 500gb a month, something is always pulling data, 3 computers, 2 tv's, 2 google chromes, 3 cell phones, 2 tablets lol But even that old PC pulls the updates super fast! I just did a rollback to get back in and had to rush to try and suspend updates it downloads so fast! but it had been sitting on that logo screen since last night. It installed some of the updates, and windows loaded... I need to see what is left and if just maybe that video card helped!
