I'm looking to update my home NAS and I wanted to see if I'm on the right track with my parts. Any feedback is appreciated
My uses:
- Unraid
- Plex server
- Syncthing
Priorities:
- The NAS needs to be low powered, the energy costs at my place (Germany) are super high
- It needs to be really quiet
- Budget is flexible, so i'd like to be future proofing it
I'm thinking of getting the following:
- CPU: Intel core i3-10100
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B460M D3H
- Crucial 16GB RAM
- Re-used 400W power supply
- Re-used rack mounted chassis
- Re-used Hard drives/boot drive
I was mainly looking at the intel i3 CPUs since I read they're quite a bit better at transcoding for plex. I'm open to AMD if that's a wrong line of thought. Are there any newer i3 chips that might make sense looking into?
Thank you for your help!
