  1. So for anyone else who stubbles upon this post: I ended up needing to do ANOTHER clean install of Windows. Deleted ALL partitions on my boot drive before installing and went back to Windows 10. Clean install of drivers, etc. So far running very well. Next step will be to get a new SSD if this doesn't work long term.
  2. Yea... that last line. Right now, seems pretty OK after doing a lot of what other folks have recommended. Memory was double checked, did another clean install of Windows and reinstalled all MOBO drivers, display drivers, etc. Windows is saying all my SSDs are healthy. Ensured that all windows updates have been completed. The ONE exception was AMD graphics drivers for my iGPU since I use a graphics card. This actually seems to have helped??? Could be placebo or may cause issues later, IDK? Windows OS is basically stable. VERY minor hiccups that honestly could just be me being hypersensitive right now. Browsers have hardware acceleration turned OFF, and they seem to be running OK. Still feel slow. Floatplane has the worst performance by far but refreshing enough times solves the issue, eventually getting 4k to stream property. YouTube often takes 2-3 refreshes but then runs without a hitch. Possibly internet issue??? But both steam and GOG both download very efficiently, hitting 700-800 mbps and iPad has no issues streaming. I am going to see how it all feels this weekend, then drop back to Windows 10 (although that was an issue too at first) if I still have problems. I did NOT do a clean install from by old MOBO and CPU on first run so I did a clean install as one of the first things I tried. Third try did help alot.
  3. Yea, definitely considering it. Although....I kind of LIKE windows 11 *GASP*. In all seriousness I like having multiple desktops and how easy it is to snap windows. According to windows my SSDs are healthy. May still try replacing the boot drive and seeing what happens. It is a few years old so maybe? Turning off hardware acceleration helped some for web browsing.
  4. This isn’t the only forum I have asked the question and combined I have had mixed responses. Also, burn in is stated (by some) to still be a major issue when searching the web. Maybe I’m biased, but I tend to agree (hope) with the responses I have gotten here. I most likely will order the Alienware.
  5. Definitely something to think about. I have used both aspect ratios extensively so I am familiar. I think I will go 20:9 (if possible) this time around. Definitely getting mixed reviews on OLED. The Alienware being marked down to $899 and having a 3 year warranty that covers burn in is definitely tempting.
  6. Budget: Ideal, $1000. MAX $1500 for the right monitor Prospective Resolution: 3840 X 2160 OR Ultrawide 21:9 3440 X 1440P Size (27 inches, etc.): 27 - 34 inches Aspect Ratio (16:9, etc.): 16:9 OR 21:9 Adaptive Sync (GSync, FreeSync, or None): GSync Compatible Looking for quality HDR and decent color accuracy (for my own preference NOT being used for color correction) min 120 HZ, mostly used for gaming, content consumption, and web browsing/email. Some productivity work, probably 20% of the time. I am looking for a monitor upgrade to pair with my shiny new 4090 I spent way too much money on. I am struggling to find something that isnt OLED. I just worry SO much about burn in. I have seen OLED displays in person however, and know they are beautiful. I have also been strongly considering going back to 3440 X 1440P instead of going to 4K (currently have a 145 hz 2440X1440P monitor) for immersion and better high refresh rate performance. Monitors I am currently considering: Odyssey Neo G7 marked down to $849 currently on amazon Alienware AW3423DWF marked down currently to $899 (specifically the one that DOES allow firmware updates) LG 27" Ultragear™ OLED QHD Gaming Monitor with 240Hz: OR SIMILAR Monitors that have same panel. 1440P, but 27 inches and VERY fast. Looking for thoughts/recommendations on monitors and OLED for desktop use. Thoughts on burn in. More mini-LED options that are not $2000 (if they exist) Thank everyone in advance!
  7. Amazon.com: SAMSUNG 32" Odyssey Neo G7 4K UHD 165Hz 1ms G-Sync 1000R Curved Gaming Monitor, Quantum HDR2000, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Ultrawide Game View, DisplayPort, HDMI, Height Adjustable Stand, Black, 2022 : Electronics Not sure where the OP is located, but I am also looking for a new monitor. In my search I found the G7 ins tock on Amazon marked dow to $849. A killer deal TBH.
  8. Thank you for the response! I have checked both browsers to ensure hardware acceleration is on and it is for both. It has been a little better the day or two. Usually can just restart the browser if it is having issues. When you say "check your SSD" (no HDDs in my system) I assume you mean for health/lifespan. I will look into that as well. Thankfully SSD pricing is decent, so if I end up needing to buy a new one it wont be TOO expensive. lol
  9. So I come here in a last ditch effort to get some more ideas about why I am having buggy/poor performance in windows an web browsing. R9 5900x RTX 4090 32 GB 6000 DDR5 6000 Windows 11 (currently) 1000 Watt platinum power supply Windows install in PCIE Gen 4 SSD 500GB Games on GEN 4 2TB SSD So windows runs OK for the most part, gaming performance is good, with ultra 1440P pushing 145FPS in most games. Cyberpunk and and Warhammer 3 wont cap out but that could come down to bad optimization. Performance is still over 100FPS with both. A LITTLE underwhelming but nothing I would consider “bad”. To be clear I mean ultra as in EVERYTHING tuned up. Most games cap well over 144. Web browsing currently is just fucked, with websites constantly running slow and/or not even loading at all in a way that seems completely random and happens with both Chrome and Edge. I am currently typing this on a iPad because LTT forums simply will not load on my desktop. YouTube and Floatplane both are problem sites as well, but it can happen to any website. Once YouTube DOES load in, 4k vids run without a hitch and will be fine for hours…until it isn’t. Other sites have poor performance as well and will randomly not work at all. Chrome is currently the browser not loading a thing right now, but it will work in Edge, and none of it feels stable. I know his description sucks but I am at a loss how to describe/fix the issue. This is NOT a internet connection issue. Steam hits peak 800-900 mbps and will stay there. None of my other devices are having issues. This seems to be just an issue on just this machine. Windows is slightly buggy but nothing like my basically broken web browsing. Any ideas as to what could be causing the issue would be awesome. I am angry, frustrated, and may need to see a therapist based on how pissed this has made me. What I have tried: BIOS update to latest for my motherboard (ASUS STRIX B650E-F Gaming Wi-Fi) CLEAN install of windows (with bios update): Issue was present in windows 10 and 11. I did not do a clean install originally when upgrading the system, but have now. Not sure if those issues have carried over. EXPO on and off seems to make no difference. COULD be a memory issue I guess, but idk. Other minor issues: Some bugginess with windows 11 but nothing huge. Start menus pins did not stick after restart one time, and background changed once at restart but both are stable now. Any ideas of where to look next would be greatly appreciated.
  10. I have been having random drops in FPS to near 0 for a few months. It happens in all games occasionally but recently (within the last few days) Final Fantasy VII seems to cause it most often. I was having similar issues with another graphics card from Gibibyte that eventually died, and I was forced to RMA, wait months, just to get a refund. Yesterday morning ALL games fell drastically in performance with power draw falling then spiking back to normal and then going back to normal and FPS going from 1-100+ every few seconds. I restarted my computer and did a clean install of all drivers. I am now back to the way it was described above (Final Fantasy VII most often but happens occasionally in all games) with performance dropping to sub 10 FPS randomly, than back to normal. It appears that the card itself just... stops functioning. Power draw locks to 33% (according to EVGA Precision) during the drop in performance. I am having this issue with only default settings (no overclock). Since yesterday there is one game that only started having issues yesterday morning, Fallout 4. I have tried reinstalling the game multiple times, but it is now constant with this game. It is almost as if the system is just not using the GPU at all, monitoring software is showing 1% GPU usage. Fallout 4 has been reinstalled multiple times and is in a complete vanilla state. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I have put a support ticket in with EVGA but honestly.... with wait times for RMAs, I am not sure when I will get a response. It is NOT a integrated graphics issue as my CPU does not have any. I have uninstalled EVGA Precision which has possibly caused the problem to get worse... but am now using hwinfo64 to monitor my system. Noob with the program at this time. Will also need to find another way to track FPS since I can not seem to find it in this program. Any advice or help would be appreciated. 11. Considering the crazy pricing in GPUs could it possibly be worth it to pre-order a founders card? If you can actually get it at MSRP it might be worth it.... I really don’t like spending that kind of money without the reviews or getting the trash cooler but hell, WHEN miners go crazy for it will be sold out/way above MSRP anyway for the board partners...
