  1. Awesome Thanks! I ordered the D15S Safer along with 1x NF-S12B Redux-1200 PWM for a rear exhaust fan 2x NF-P14s Redux-1200 PWM for the front intake The top of the case can take a 140mm exhaust but i may hold off to see if it will fit after i get the D15s in there Thanks for your help on deciding
  2. Is the D15 and D15S the same minus the extra fan? New egg has the D15 on sale for 99 (cdn) and the D15S is that price normally.. . assuming they are identical i could get the D15, (bonus fan) and use it as a case fan.. THey appear to be identical otherwise
  3. That helps! that is one of the things i was wondering.. 4pipe single tower vs 6 pipe dual tower. This case has 0 space haha.. SPace allowance is 161mm, noctua d15 is 160mm with out the fans. I read you can push the middle fan down lower to make it fit. So i may have to run it with just 1 fan. or swap out the 140mm side fan to a 120mm then i would think it would fit
  4. My i7-950 MB died so im building a new machine! woo! Main purpose is editing 4k video with some casual gaming | Already Ordered CPU: Intel Core i7 i7-8700K Hexa-core (6 Core) 3.70 GHz Processor - Socket H4 LGA-1151Retail Pack MB: ASUS Motherboard Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) ROG LGA1151 DDR4 DP/HDMI M.2 Z370 ATX Retail Case: NZXT S340 Elite RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Memory Model F4-3200C16D-32GVK Storage: 2x SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 500GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V6E500BW PSU: EVGA Supernova 750 G3 GPU: Ordered a gtx1080 a month ago....still on back order. I do have an old HD 770 kicking around or possibly a gtx1060 off a buddy Still need to figure out Case fans: TBD.. maybe noctuas? CPU Cooler: Either my old Noctua NH-U12P SE2 or potential a NH-D15 but i know that one is an extremely tight fit in this case... so debating if its worth the upgrade Is there anything else im missing?
  5. So case specs say CPU Cooler: 161mm DR3 163mm NH-D15 165mm So this is going to be cutting it.. some say it will just squeeze in D15 is 160mm without fans.. I suspose i could swap the 140mm fans to 120mm fans if its an issue. Also read you can push the middle fan down a few mm to make it fit
  6. Ram is 42mm high Looks like i can only fit 32mm. Rats! (or just use the other 2 slots? ) I believe the board has 4 slots and i just have 2 sticks.. Alternatively.. couldnt i just put the one fan on the opposite site to suck rather than blow? Looks like my old cooler and the new one are both compatible too! https://noctua.at/en/mainboard/Asus_ROG_Maximus_X_Hero_(WI-FI_AC) Is there much of a difference in Single Vs dual fan mode?
  7. Excellent thanks! Main purpose for this PC is 4k video editing I ordered a 1080 a month or so off amazon.. but still waiting for it... Picked up a used 1060 yesterday so will use that for now. Parts List so far (ordered) Intel Core i7 i7-8700K Hexa-core (6 Core) 3.70 GHz Processor - Socket H4 LGA-1151Retail Pack ASUS Motherboard Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) ROG LGA1151 DDR4 DP/HDMI M.2 Z370 ATX G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-32GVK SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 500GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V6E500BW Case: NZXT S340 Elite PSU: Supernova 750 G3
  8. Just Ordered an i7-8700k Should be here next week.. so now its the keep or upgrade the old cooler. Assuming its worth upgrading the old noctua NH-U12P SE2 Then Dark Rock Pro 3 or NH-D15 ?
  9. My i7-950 build finally bit the dust and i just ordered an i7-8700k My old system had a Noctua NH-U12P (4 heat pipe dual tower) My initail plan was to re-use this on the new build.. however im curious if there is any big advantage in upgrading to the newer Noctua NH-D15 (6 heatpipe dual tower) Will i see enough benefit to justify the newer cooler with extra heat pipes? I will likely OC it to 5ghz.
