Thank you! This is what I was looking for. I just needed kind of a point in the right direction to get started. I’m looking to jump to an i7 in may so I shouldn’t have much of a bottleneck after then.

I probably should have mentioned that I definitely want to stick to something new for warranty reasons. I’ve had pretty bad luck with used hardware lately. Not sure if you were taking new or used. As for my CPU, my wife is actually going to be buying me an upgrade for my birthday in May. It’s a ways to wait but, saves me some cash, lol.

I’ve been using an RX 570 for years now and it’s starting to really show its age. I have been out of the GPU game for years now so I have no idea where to start. I just want something that will play most newer games at medium to high presets (not opposed to low if needed) at 1080p. Not looking to play anything in 4k. My cpu is a 10100f and I have only 16gb of ram. My budget is about $300 but I may be able to go as high as $400. What would you recommend? I am open to AMD, Nvidia or Intel. I play a lot of Hogwarts Legacy and Fallout 4. I’d love to be able to play Starfield, if even at low settings. Thanks for any help you can give.

Dell PowerEdge R610
HesCalledTheStig replied to HesCalledTheStig's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
So if I get a copy of Windows server edition I’ll save myself some headaches? Will that edition support everything a home/pro version would? Like would I still be able to run any software I wanted or would it limit me? Sorry for the dumb questions. This is my first server project. A bit of a learning experience. -
I have a friend that found one of these at a yard sale and offered it to me. He says it powers on and posts but has no hard disks. Here are my questions. First, can I run any 2.5in hdd/ssd’s in this? And second, can any OS be installed or does it need to be an actual server OS? I just thought it would be a fun project to build a gaming PC out of an old rack server or make a simple NAS.

i3 10100f pinout

Ok. I didn’t know that. I asked based on what I did know. The cpu. -
i3 10100f pinout
HesCalledTheStig replied to HesCalledTheStig's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have no idea. Never compared them. I have a board with a broken pin and I want to see what it coincides with on the cpu. -
I'm trying to find a pinout diagram for the pads on an i3 10100f cpu. I have google searched with no luck. Can anyone help me out?

Ryzen 5 2600 running hot?
HesCalledTheStig replied to HesCalledTheStig's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Ok. That’s good to know. Looks like I’ll need to buy something new sooner rather than later. -
I have been running my Ryzen 5 2600 for over 2 years with a Hyper 212 evo. The temps at idle were normally around the 28*c mark and gaming or rendering temps would stay around the mid to high 50’s max. This past week the fan on my hyper 212 started making noise so I swapped the cooler for the stock cooler that the 2600 came with (I didn’t have another fan to replace the faulty one on hand). Now my idle temps sit around the 40*c range at idle with steam shut down and 50*c when steam is running in the background. I haven’t tried gaming or video editing yet because I want to make sure that this is just because of the weaker cooler and not an issue with my cpu or other hardware. I’ve never had to use a stock cooler with this cpu before so for all I know this could be completely normal. And that is my question. Is it normal?

Plex directories.
HesCalledTheStig replied to HesCalledTheStig's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
Thank you! I had a feeling it was something easy but felt it was best to clarify before I broke something, lol. -
Is there a way to make Plex add movies from more than one directory? I filled my movie drive and still have many more files I want to add. Sorry if this is an obvious question. Very new to Plex.

Is there a way to limit frame rate on an AMD GPU? I have always used Nvidia Inspector with my Nvidia cards but have no idea what I can use for my AMD cards.

Ok, this is probably a really dumb question. My second monitor died today so I now have 2 PC's sharing one monitor. Is it going to shorten the lifespan of my monitor by switching from one input to another several times a day? I cant buy another display for a few months as money is pretty tight right now. I dont want this one to fail on me before then. Thanks!
