x570 crosshair impact cmos battery replacment
darcymccracken replied to rockman_ali's topic in Troubleshooting
Hey man, any updates to this, did you get the battery changed? If so how? I have the same board and dead battery most likely and mine is like soldered onto the board and can't be removed without prying it out, doesn't seem right. -
Hey There, I'm having trouble with my computer when I boot it up. For a good month or so now when I have been booting up my PC my BIOS settings always get reset, my PC doesn't post, and then I have to press the reset button to get it to post and I have to put them back in every time and then my PC then goes through into windows. Now this week, the problem has been getting worse, where I get up to the point where I have to put my BIOS settings back in, then sometimes it just goes through to a black screen (no error codes), sometimes it posts and is loading into windows then shuts itself off again and boot cycles, sometimes the PC has to repair itself, sometimes it just doesn't post at all. I have tried resetting windows 10. My motherboard is an Asus Crosshair VIII Impact, and I have windows installed on 2x Corsair MP510 480gb SSD's in RAID 0 (I know its stupid but I only use my computer for games and I wouldn't be too bothered if they kick the bucket and they lose everything). My problem then becomes two-fold. I understand that my BIOS settings not being saved is a CMOS battery issue and needs to be replaced, however in this particular board, the battery is heat shrinked into a plastic cover, when I cut the cover off, the battery connectors have been like soldered onto them and I'm not sure how to replace the battery, therefore does anyone know how to replace the battery on this motherboard. I have attached photos of CMOS battery. I have submitted an RMA to see if they can change the battery. Then my booting issues, why do I have to press the reset button to get it to post, why do I boot cycle and it shuts itself off randomly after it has posted, and why is my computer just being dank really lol. Would love to hear any suggestions or if anyone has had these problems before. Thank you

I swapped from a custom loop for CPU and GPU to just GPU and an AIO for CPU. The AIO cables are all plugged in. The SSD that got fried was the one with windows on it so I don’t know about disk utility -
Hi, I was moving my components into a new case, everything went well and fine until it was time to turn on. I turned pc on, it booted for about 10 seconds and then died, following that every time I tried to boot up the pc the power supply would click once and I’d get about 1 second of power in the fans and then it would stop, (motherboard RGB was still on though) and then when I’d turn the PSU off I would get another 2 seconds of power in the fans. I ended up doing troubleshooting and ended up swapping out the motherboard and everything is booting up again, however my SATA devices aren’t being detected. I had the following devices on a single SATA cable PSU -> HDD -> AIO -> SSD -> SSD now only the last SSD is being detected upon boot up, no power in the AIO either. I’ve tried swapping PSU cables, SATA power and data cables and they don’t show up, the concerning thing is when I put a hard drive that wasn’t originally connected to the pc it shows up on the computer. so I’m wondering if it’s possible that the PSU fried all but the last SATA device connected to the cable

One of my drives isn't showing in Disk Management
darcymccracken replied to darcymccracken's topic in Storage Devices
No, I'm not familiar with it at all, what is it? -
Hey, One of my drives isn't showing in disk management in windows 10. Its a samsung 860 pro, and it shows up in task manager as disk 3, just not in disk management so I can't format it. The drive used to be my OS drive and I wiped it using the samsung magician software then plugged it into my new computer. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

Sorry for late reply, yeah I have an open air case so wiring is not an issue for me, but I'd like to wire a power and reset button in, have you done this before? -

Hey there, I have just finished building my PC today and I have put it in a spot on my shelf, however it makes my power button on the case hard to reach, how would I go about wiring a switch like this (attached) to my PC to make it turn on when I flip the switch? Are there any tutorials out there or has anyone done it before who can give a step by step guide? Thank you!

RTX 3080 with which processor's
darcymccracken replied to G_K's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Either or will work fine I reckon, but I'd wait till the 10th gen reviews come out to see if there is a big enough performance jump to justify going up a CPU generation, depends on the cost too... -
Hey, Got my PC here and the case fans are so loud, they are just the stock 3x 140mm fans in the define S2, but I just really think that they shouldn't be this loud. All 3 fans are plugged in to the included fan hub but I don't think it's working. Tried adjusting the fan curve but it doesn't pick up that there are any fan's connected to the system, changed the fans to the PWM header on the hub and if anything, its louder. Does anyone else have the same problem? or are these fans just geniunly loud?

Hi, I am looking to start my own first time water cooling project. I'm just confused about the reservoir. What do I need to look for when selecting one? Does size matter? I am looking to get a pump/reservoir combo just because it will be easier. Thanks

Hi, I am confused about the memory speeds between the Budget boards and the z370 boards. I currently have an i7 8700 and 16gb @ DDR4-3200 of ram. My current understanding is that only the z370 chipset boards can run ram over 2666. Everything else is up to 2666. Will my 8700 also be locked to only 2666? Can anyone clarify this?, ideally I want the Ram to be running at 3200.

Hi, I am wondering what CPU would be suited for my needs. i5 8600k or the i7 8700? I will primarily be using my pc for gaming, adobe photoshop and illustrator and software development. What do you guys think?

Hi, I'm new to the PC world and I am stuck on what monitor to get as whenever I think I choose one I always end up second guessing myself. I have a 1070 Ti and a Ryzen 1600x and I'm looking for a monitor that I can game on and also can use applications like photoshop and adobe illustatator I need it to be: - Good for gaming and multitasking (split screen) - Preferably a high refresh rate and IPS - Anywhere between 27 inches to 34 inches - Around 500 - 600 dollars Does anyone have any good recommendations?
