  1. What is this adapter converting? I know it is from an HP laptop elitebook 2740p. One end is from a proprietary hardrive for hp laptops (looks similar to SATA) but the other end looks like a regular connector. Attached is a picture of both ends. Note: Replacment hard drives aren’t cost effective. Any adapter will work though as we plan on turning some of these laptops into chrome books using some old 32gb ultra small ssds we have.
  2. NOTE: I have looked around the forum for a little bit with no option to get an iso file that I know has no malware one it. I have an older laptop that I want to install Windows XP on, for a variety of reasons, Linux will not work. I have been having a hard time to get a valid issue of windows XP that I can activate with my key. Any help finding a download source would be much appreciated as this laptop is too old to get 7 on.
  3. So, I looked at that earlier and the OP is supposed to be updating the links but I am looking to get this done sometime soon. I have also looked around at other installs but have failed to find one that works. Any ideas?
  4. As the title implies, I need a way to install Windows 10 on a 16gb SSD. I have a 16gb flash drive for installation but want to make sure it will fit. Also want to get RAID 1 set up for the 2 x 1tb HDDs that will be used solely for data storage
  5. I know it gets cheaper the more lisence that you buy. I would suggest looking at their enterprise website .
  6. You can run boot camp with older versions of windows like windows 7 and it takes up about as much space as a modern game such as Fortnite whose latest update was 22gb for PC. Either way, you will have a better experience on Windows and if you don't have enough spare storage for a windows install than you probably don't have enough storage for many games. You can do it however you like though, I just suggested a better and easier alternative. Have a nice day!
  7. Ok, so I was able to figure this out for anyone who might need to do it for free later on. I used TinkerCad to create the base of the project, then set the height to 3mm. Next, I used one of the many free available .jpg to .svg converters out there so I could import the image into tinkercad and set it as a hole with a depth of .5mm (so there is a slight indention in the puzzle to add paint to once it is printed). Then get a jigsaw puzzle plain image off of the internet and convert it to .svg and import that into tinkercad. Finally set the height of the puzzle piece grid set (I used 3mm) to whatever the height of your puzzle is. After lining it up, it was able to be printed no issues and I can paint it whenever it finishes (looks like later tonight)
  8. Show me any meaningful sized piece of plastic on a recent apple product. I’ll wait Are there really overpriced for the tight integration you get with other apple products? My 2012 MacBook Pro (8gb ram upgraded and 500gb sad) is still running strong and I love it for the battery life (can easily get several hours w/o charger) and if I leave my iPhone at home I can still text and make calls throughout the day with no problem. 1. Most Smart Keyboard cases that I have tried and actually liked have to be decently lined up before they lock into place 2. Name a single laptop that handles a i9 decently well in any simi portable form factor. Most of the blame can be placed on intel for not getting to smaller nm chips yet. 3. Yes competition is good for everyone but most companies are not scrutinized like apple is to a nitpickly level where any little thing going wrong tries to be made into an apple is horrible article. Just look at the TWO iPhone 7s that had the battery expand in shipping. News outlets tried to blow it up into every phone does it not just the note 7 when in reality, almost any battery has a small chance of failure.
  9. The easiest way will still be to just use boot camp. It is reliable (at least in my experience) and not hard to set up
  10. Just use bootcamp. If the mac doesn't run bootcamp then it is probably too old to run any games other than turn based simple games or newer games at abysmal frame rates that are basically unplayable. Also, please get an external GPU for it to be a much better experience.
  11. So I may be missing something really obvious, but I think I am starting to go crazy since this project is due Wed. For a long list of reasons, I need to get a puzzle that is 3d printed but is blank (will need to be a cad file so I can do a few intentions and other things but format (as long as it can be converted into .obj, .stl. .svg) isn't terribly important. ANY help finding a puzzle like this would be helpful. (I found one on grabcad that was .max but would not convert using Yobi3d) Most puzzles that are out there seem to be 3d puzzles and that won't work too well for this project. Also, as long is it is around 50 pieces (or less) then size doesn't really matter either.
  12. It can be caused by overheating, or in older systems the graphics card dies on you. Try a diffrent graphics card and check your temps, if it doesn't happen too often, it may be a program relay working your CPU
  13. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
  14. There is a tool from Microsoft that lets you use create the install media. Grab an 8gb or larger flashdrive and follow the process on a working computer (it will take a less less time on an ssd based computer in mt experience) and let it run. Then boot your computer off of the flashdrive and let it start the installation process. Once you go through he screens, it will start installing (on a fast enough system about 20-30 min) and windows will be done installing at that point and you can set up whatever else you want to use.
  15. So I have a report I have to due for school. I have my data but it appears that there are several people (like 20% out of 125) that have various answers that basically mean the same thing. For example, I have several people with variations on no. I have a few nadas, a couple of nopes, some not at alls, you get the idea. I need to be able to combine those results into one category (no) and I have no issue going through and manually sorting through those and categorizing them, I just don't know how to.
