Hi I have a dell poweredge r410 with a idrac express 6, this enables me to remotely turn it on by accesing the idrac control page by typing in a local ip address (192.168.x.x). This is great and I can remotely turn it on then use remote desktop to connect to it and control it like a normal pc. However I would like to do this outside of my house, I have heard that you can set up a VPN which will handle this for you enabling you to access your home network. I have tried doing this by enabling ports and using softether and although I manage to connect to my default gateway to access my wireless router settings, when I type in the idrac address it simply doesnt connect. My laptop is running windows 10 pro and I am currently trying different OS's for my server Is there another way of doing this ? Thanks

I have stopped it, didnt realise its not suitable for SSD's You are probably right it is dead, I get an I/O error on my partition tool. I have contacted the oem part of Samsung so maybe they will be able to help me out (WD once replaced my broken out of warranty/broken warranty seal hard drive).

Hi I have found an old samsung ssd 120gb. I was having problems with it when I plugged into the SATA into my pc. It simply refused to be recognised in windows partitions nor in DISKPART. I plugged it into my laptop using a sata to usb connector and I can hear the windows chime everytime i plug it and unplug it however it is not showing up anywhere. Lastly I have loaded up DBAN in bios to try and nuke it and what is weird is that DBAN recognised it "ATA Disk Samsung Sata SSD DXM0 959mb), which is also weird as it shows a 959mb capacity. However I am currently running the dban and it says that there is 5 hours remaining which is ok but I dont want to waste my time. It is possible that the drive was encrypted using veracrypt but any chance of knowing a password or recovery is long gone. I really dont care about the data and I am wondering if I can restore the drive back to the working state. Already tried contacting samsung about RMA but they dont accept OEM ;( Thanks

I have the a similar model(gt62vr 6rd 6700hq 16gb ram and the 1060 not the 1070 ;(. ) I will update once I get the adapters for sure One of them has a HDMI so i suppose I just need a mini DP to DVI adapter. Was hoping for a more elegant solution of just plugging in one cable rather than two but thats just me being lazy. Im not even sure If my laptop has a thunderbolt or is it just USB c otherwise I could get a usb c to dual hdmi

wasnt sure if they could split, as in if I used the HDMI port, the mini DP wouldnt work anymore. Wouldve checked it before I posted but dont have the adapters yet. Thanks!

Received it and Im more than pleased with it, it is super loud but I will probably compromise the 2U shape and fit custom cpu coolers. Came with and idrac express and a raid card on a pcie riser. Also included 4 hot swappable cages, front fascia and a front diagnose lcd. Of course I forgot that I needed a VGA cable at first but oh well...

Hi I have a msi laptop with mini displayport, hdmi and USB c outputs and I want to connect dual monitors. Previously they were plugged into a PC with 2 dvi cables. I have researched some solutions but usb c to dual hdmi for example is a bit expensive. Any solutions? Thanks

It comes with a psu just needs a kettle power lead. Or do i need another one? I will hold probably around 4/5 3.5" drives but not more. However do you have a recommendation for a fast boot drive like an m2 or is a plextor m6e an option ? Or is that useless with Windows server OS ?

I already have an i5 desktop and a much better laptop even. Never had a rack server though hence why im so interested in this, maybe not just for modelling but for also being a server in future. I looked at r710 which comes with E5505 but I dont think thats as good as the x5650. Sound is not that much of an issue for me and power consumption is also not important atm as my bills include electricity (up to a point). Think im gonna go for it then post it here, theres only one in stock and its claimed to be an ex "business" server

Last thing, it only has 8gb of ram but Dell specifies it supports up to 128gb, will there be a big advantage upgrading to 16 or even 32? Thanks

Thank you !, yes well my plan is to use it for rendering and so on, but once I graduate i doubt much of my job will be done at home or even if it will be in CAE so I will probably experiment to host a server of some sort, i enjoy learning about these things so I will probably try and set something up. With the quadro, a p1000 is still sort of out of my budget, will any Quadro be an improvement or is it not worth going for one.
