  1. Kind of an odd topic/goal for a programming contest, isn't it?  I mean, you're not exactly stretching the boundaries of what can be done with the language; it's just line and fill, and once you've got that figured out, it's more of the same over and over again.  Seems to me like having a "programming contest" for who can make the coolest pattern with a CNC machine.

Not that it isn't cool - you did a good job, and it takes creativity, but it just strikes me as a little odd to put it under "programming"...

Well, sure, it's a contest from Accenture. Maybe for you it's quite simple, but for highschool students and elementary school it's challenging enough. Sure, a square is easy but it needs geometry knowledge too. Especially the curves are pretty difficult.

  2. Hello, I've purchased Corsair HS40 headset. The headphones themselves work really well and I'm happy with them. The problem is the microphone.

This is the first time I've had USB microphone but it doesn't happen on 3.5 mm jacks. Basically, there's huge static noise. It's impossible for me to be louder than the noise while talking. I've got a multimeter and I tested my PC case (It's Fractal Design Core 2300) and the voltage is 0.4 V. When I touch my PC case the thing stops, so is it because of the improper grounding?

I live in Latvia, 1980s USSR built 5 floor flat, and the electrical system probably sucks here. Is there anything I can do to it? Could it be my power supply? I have Corsair CX500 (Now don't go telling me I have to buy EVGA or SeaSonic, those brands are not sold in my country shops). I don't think it's my headsets fault because it works good enough on my laptop, there is some static but it's way less. Analog 3.5mm inputs work well.

    Thanks!

  3. Linus won't teach you anything about math, or make you smarter. If you're smart enough to be able to go through school with little effort, then fair enough, but if you ever have to choose between entertainment and failing a year, trust me, don't fail the year. Realistically speaking, what you learn on the internet by itself is unlikely to ever give you a good paying job if any at all.

i dont care.im going to create gaming youtube channel get millions subs like pewdiepie. i get a nice microphone and i play game lol. school sometimes sucks and i saw on some video not pewdiepie but other gamer say he didnt go to school so why should i?

  4. If you can't even figure out on your own what to do if you don't have any electricity, none of us can help you.  You need to stop living in your parents' basement and move out to live on your own.

Or if you want to do something really exciting, go bungee jumping off a 100m tall building with a 101m length of rope.  You won't have to worry about electricity ever again.

im not 18 yet. max height building in my town is 5 floors. and i have no basmenet i live in an apartment.

  5. I can't see anything bad coming from taking money from your mother's wallet to buy cannabis. Absolutely nothing at all. I'm sure it will be a warm family moment you two will cherish for years to come.

is that sarcasm or are you for real?

    #Firstworldproblems. Go outside!

it was cold af -1 degrees. i am not in america, we have no global warming here.  i was outside for 2 hours and already got cold af. if i was out for 8 hours id probs die.

  6. Uh.... what makes you think I live in the USA?

Anyway, I never heard of a country where you couldn't score some gear.

Please keep in mind this was a joke suggestion, and keeping yourself entertained with cannabis is not recommended... if anything, it will put a hole in your wallet.

i dont have wallet myself. ill take from my mum.

  7. Read a book..

    Read a book or something.

Or go to a family member's/friend's house if you really can't survive without electronics for only 8 hours... I survived for 2 weeks without internet, surely you can survive for 8 hours without charging your devices. A laptop should last at the very least 3 to 5 hours, more if it's an ultrabook. The phone should last double that. You'll survive.

Ok, good idea, might read a bit.

There's nothing stupid about playing an electric guitar without an amp. I do it all the time.

If you are really that worried being without electricity, maybe you should go visit a friend or go grab a cup of coffee(or tea) and grab your laptop with you. You could find a place where you can also charge your devices.

But there is nothing wrong being without a phone or a laptop for a couple of hours. I would even go as far to say that it is extremely healthy.

Yeah, I live in a small town, there are no starbucks or anything. well there's a small pizza place but it's 30 minutes away from my home walking, on the other side of the town.

    What robotics?

oh i'm building Arduino Linefollower atm for Robotics Championship. Yesterday designed the 3D print in SketchUp.

    Exercise

    Go for a walk

    Drive to somewhere with power

    rent  a hotel room

go watch a movie with some friends

yeah will do the first  2 things. i have no car. there are no hotels in my town, neither a movie theater. and the friend who doesn't go to school today lives in the same apartment flat as me so we might go together somewhere, maybe at pizza place.

Yeah i'd second going out and maybe watch a movie with some friends, have a day out with family, get jammed into a book, heck maybe even go and find some scrap computers and put em together like i see some people do, maybe even start a hobby you've had at the back of your mind but was continuously too distracted from by electronics :3.

yeah i live in a small town so we don't have any scrap computers to get or theater for movies. might go out with my friend to some pizza place because he lives in the same house i live so he doesnt have electricity too.
