  1. I have not used AI Suite since then and had no more problems. So AI Suite and outdated drivers seem to be the problem. Most of the things that I used AI Suite for could be set in the BIOS (fan curves etc.), so there is no need for such bloatware anymore.
  2. Hello checkout my thread. I have probably found a fix for my black screen problem, maybe it will work for you too:
  3. Check out my thread, I think I have solved the issue for me.
  4. UPDATE: So apperently reinstalling windows like this: First let windows update (do not touch it, unitl it automatically updates to the newest version). When it is finnished updating start installing your drivers from vendor websites (not the ASUS ones). And do not install AURA or AI suite. This probably fixed the issue for me. I haven't had any black screen in a whole week of normal use.
  5. Hello everyone, I need some cooling advice from you guys. The problem I have noticed a CPU throttling issues while stress testing. The CPU temps are at 55C and the cooler is seated properly, so it can't be that. Upon touching the VRM pasive cooler, one of them is quite hot (like a coffee mug). So I would like to ask you for the best coolingt solution I thought that it would be best to buy a few more airflow fans, but I am not shure where to place them, so I ask for your advice. Also I would very much appreciate if you hinted me what fans do you think would be the best for the job. Thank you. The setup looks like this (also in the attachments): System setup image The red circle is the overheating VRM cooler The blue boxes are installed fans System info: Case: Fractal design define S MB: ASUS Strix X370-F CPU cooler: Artic freezer 33 Thank you all for help. The red circle is the overheating VRM cooler The blue boxes are installed fans
  6. The cooler is written int he System info. It is Artic freezer 33.
  7. The core boost yes, but the base clock? It has been like 3394 Mhz before the update and now it is 3492 Mhz
  8. That is very unlikely. It is a fresh install of windows. The only thing that was installed were drivers (from official vendor websites - not ASUS - no utility software, not even the sound software from ASUS), hwinfo and a few basic programs for work. But the strange thing is that i have noticed that my ryzen 7 is running at 3.5Ghz after the last BIOS update? With core boost to 3.8Ghz. It also visible on the measurement graph.
  9. Ok, will try reseting the CMOS and test again. But looking into BIOS, everything is set to auto. Nothing was touched there. After the stress test ended I went to watch the meassured values. So it would have been almost idle. Even now watching the idle voltage it jumps between 1.2V to 1.42V max meassured is 1.47
  10. Hello everyone, I have recently purchased a new Ryzen based build. And I would like to ask for your best guess or advise on what might be wrong. First problem is: While stress testing the system using the OCCT software the screen freezes from time to time, but the stress test continues and when it unfreezes the time indicator jumps ahead. There is a straight line in the monitoring graph for the duration of the freeze (no data input). Hwinfo which was logging all the values jumps for the duration of the freeze too (30s and more gaps). Is this normal? Second problem is: The CPU starts to "thermal" throttle at 55C cca 8 minutes into the test. This is very clearly seen on the provided measurement graphs, that were captured while the stress test was running. It does not do that in AIDA stress test. What could cause this throttling? The case has more than enough airflow. I have tried: Reseating the CPU cooler Measurements: https://imgur.com/a/N6Zpi The system is in stock settings (no OC). System info (everything stock, no OC): * CPU: Ryzen 1700X * MB: ASUS ROG STRIX X370-F * RAM: Patriot Viper 16GB 3000Mhz CL16 (2 sticks) * PSU: Corsair RM550X * GPU: NVIDIA GT710 * SSD: Patriot flare 120GB SSD (System) * HDD: Multiple WD blue/red HDDs * CPU Cooler: Arctic freezer 33 * System: Windows 10 64 bit (latest available build) Is it a badly seated cooler? Might it be VRM throttling? Or is it indicating a bad PSU? I have already posted a problem with random black screens with the same steup which was not yet solved.
  11. It works like this: You will let windows download all updates and drivers itself, while it is updating, you shall not install any drivers/software yourself. Once it is updated and only then you shall install the latest drivers from the vendors websites. This way you should avoid any driver conflicts or incompatibility with the updated windows version.
  12. Hello @KF335i I have encountered the exact same problem with my ryzen 7 setup. Random black screens with unresponsive power and restart buttons. I have already posted a thread here: And there is another one with the same problem: Basically I have tried RMAing the CPU and MB, but none of that helped. I am also using a external DAC, but I dont thing that it is the problem, because I had it disconnected while the black screens occured. I am now trying to install all windows updates with the creators update first and then install all the drivers from vendors websites. The system is now running second day without any black screen (which does not mean anything, the black screens are so random that I could run a whole week without any black screen, but there is a slight hope that it might fix the problem, will see).
  13. Hello, just checking. Have you had any response from ASUS or AMD? I have contacted the ASUS support and they told me to send them the MB, that it might be a faulty peace, but it was already replaced via RMA. What are the chances of getting two faulty motherboards in a row?
  14. Update: Tried a brand new CPU. Black screen problem still present.
  15. I see that @guihashimoto has referenced my issue here, which is in my opinion exactly the same as you are having. And you are also in the possession of the same MB and CPU combination that I have. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this @Hilux22RE. And I also have ruled out the MB because I already replaced it for a brand new piece and it has not fixed the issue. Today I got my brand new piece of R 1700X via RMA so I hope that the CPU was the issue.
