Hi, I am new to the forums here, so please let me know if i do something wrong. I built my first computer a couple of years ago with my dad for a Christmas present. We had a budget of around 600-700, I can't fully remember. Anyways, through the years I upgraded my graphics on Christmas, threw in an extra ram kit, and switched PSU's. The computer is only used for gaming, no video editing, rendering, or anything of the sorts. The build is as follows:
CPU- Fx 8320
MOBO- Asus M5A78L-M/USB3
RAM- 16gb G.SKIll RIPJAWS 2300mhz
HDD- 1TB WD 7200rpm
GPU- Sapphire NITRO 380x 4gb
PSU- EVGA 700 watt( cant remember model name)
I am wanting to do another upgrade, since I got my current card around 2 years ago. I had a couple of concerns when thinking through this process and was told to come here. The first of my concerns is my aging processor. The processor is reaching the 4 year mark now, and I didn't know if I should worry about upgrading to a new platform such as Intel coffee lake, or a Ryzen, or should my processor continue to handle newer games if I were to upgrade my graphics card. The next of my concerns is the actual card upgrade. With the skyrocketed price of graphics cards due to mining, would a card such as the 980 SC be a good choice to pick up, giving that you can get one under 400 and it can play any game out right now with ease, or should I wait until the price inflation goes down and get a newer chipset. I know this post is getting a little long now, but as a closing question, which would deliver a better gaming experience in everyone's opinion; an ultrawide monitor or a 1440p monitor?
