  1. "Then make sure there is a route in place for NIC1's network so that traffic can flow on that NIC that is destined for that network. The default route to 0.0.0.0/0 should stay only on NIC2 so that all other traffic and WAN traffic goes out there. " This is somewhat beyond my level of knowledge. Could you please expand? Thanks
  2. Hello, I have a server with two NICs running Ubuntu 20.04: NIC1: 192.168.1.51 - connected to ISP1-GATEWAY part of LAN1 NIC2: 192.168.100.51 - connected to ISP2-GATEWAY part of LAN2 I would like to have them set up via netplan for: static IPs for their respective subnets - no dhcp4 don't need to route traffic between LAN1 and LAN2, they can be invisible etc set interface or route metric so that server WAN traffic favors NIC2 and consequently ISP2 ISP1 must not be restricted to account for redundancy (eg: ISP2 is down) i can either disable IPv6 or have it work exactly is IPv4 with the same weights. I don't seem to find a clear example of this, netplan.io example assumes traffic should be routed between LAN1 and LAN2. I run several services on the box (eg: plex media server) which I want both LAN1 and LAN2 clients to access separately via their respective interfaces, all the while WAN traffic generated by the server (eg: Deluge) to favor NIC2 over NIC1 (ISP2 over ISP1). Thanks
  3. Anyway, I ended up adding some more SSD cache to the array, fio examples from here show hitting 300 MB/s on the raidz array. It's not max SATA 6 Gbps, but I expect the raidz config incurs a penalty. Let me know what you think, thanks
  4. Pool is fresh, just started first scrub. I got just 500G on it, snap output looks like this: pool: big state: ONLINE scan: scrub in progress since Sun Oct 17 04:24:06 2021 496G scanned at 2.57G/s, 109G issued at 580M/s, 496G total 0B repaired, 22.04% done, 00:11:22 to go
  5. I have two different ISP connection, I'm using one for downloads (deluge, sonarr, radarr, jackett) and the other one for gaming (I live somewhere where gigabit plans are quite cheap). So one nic is for lan usage for the media server, the other one is for outside downloads and all. I assume two 100MB/s should not be a problem, but I'm more interested in "inside the system" bottlenecks, like a scrub or some disk to disk copy and such.
  6. Hello, I'm using the ASUS Z170 in a file server with the following storage devices: - 1 no-mane M.2 SATA SSD recovered from a ravpower usb-c enclosure (which disables the 1st sata port) - 2 HDDs connected to the onboard sata ports (2&3) (Seagate NAS 3TB) - 4 HDDs connected to a cheap addon card with JMicron JMB585 sata port multiplier plugged in the PCI express x16_1 (using integrated graphics) (WD Re 3TB) Additional devices: - onboard gigabit lan intel i219 - addon gigabit lan card in one of the x1 slots realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 I'm running a raidz zfs on all 6 drives with part of the SSD for OS (ubuntu) and cache for the ZFS array. The array is storing mostly media for plex. Question is: am I facing and possible storage speed bottlenecks in this scenario? Should I reorder the slots where the addon cards are inserted or prioritize onboard sata ports? Should I splurge for a raid controller? I could potentially swap the no-name m2 with a 970 EVO, would that matter? OR add the 970EVO to the system via an pci express to m.2 card. Thanks!
  7. Hello, I'm looking to pair a Asus Z170-A motherboard with a Xeon 1270 V5 CPU. 1. will it work? 2. will I be able to run ECC memory? if so, what SKU exactly Thanks.
  8. Yep, seems to be exactly that: I actually checked the box for "Disable full screen optimizations" and it works. wth is windows doing anyway in the latest update for this to happen? LE: this one seems to be triggered by the gpu scheduler setting. if it's on, you get the behavior in the first post. off and everything good. no, if i keep it on but i disable full screen optimizations... will that cancel itself out?
  9. Hello, So as of last week I'm facing this issue intermitently where games like Apex Legends and HZD PC start minimized instead of fullscreen, no matter if I go by the shortcut on desktop or via the launcher. I then takes multiple very fast clicks on taskbar to maximize them and make them stick, otherwise it's like a wack-a-mole where I click, the app shortly becomes full screen and the minimizes to the taskbar. Also, there are instances where full screen up loose focus in a strage way: they don't go into tasbkar, but they remain in a "in the background" state where I can see the content but the sound is muted. And If I click anywhere on screen, the app gets "into focus" and sound comes up. It's as if all apps have now decided to run in some kind of borderless - window mode. I have the latest drivers, AMD CPU (5800X) and MOBO and Nvidia Graphics card (2080TI). The stuff that drives me crazy is that I've just reinstalled W10 specifically for this reason and it seems it didn't go away... Any help appreciated, thanks!
  10. Basically the title. I'm trying to get in on one of the discount codes from Techlinked or the main channel but looks like they are not available in EU. Mind you, last time I checked Romanina is firmly Europe. Check the attached pic.
  11. Hello, I'm looking to set up DDL 5.1 for my Asus Xonar DX card, so that I can output 5.1 channel audio to my receiver via optical SPDIF. I've tried the steps mentioned at this link, but the guide is pretty old and it broke the sound setup completely: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DigitalAC-3Pulseaudio The ubuntu forums thread mentioned there is even older: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DigitalAC-3Pulseaudio Would anyone endeavor to review and update the guide? I'm only a superficial Ubuntu user. Some specs: Asus Xonar DX Ubuntu 18.04 Currently, I get only PCM stereo output, which came by default with the installation of the operating system. Thank you in advance.
  12. Hello, Z97 used to have a Dynamic Storage Accelerator function that was targeted at SSD performance and c states, from what I remember. That seems to be gone on Z370, at least on my MSI Krait Gaming. Should I disable C-states, in order to preserver SSD performance? In other words, is there definitive proof that C states affect SSD performance? Thanks.
  13. This issue went away once I've updated my bios to the latest version (Z370 Krait Gaming). That bios updated specifically called out an updated from RST 15.9 to 16. So it was most likely a raid irmware bug.
  14. Hello, I'm annoyed by the fact the Z370 BCLK fluctuates only so slightly when reported by CPUz. So far, I've not been able to find the setting that controls this fluctuation in the bios for Z370 Krait Gaming. Is there any solution to this?
  15. Any specific value or diagnostic tool? Samsung magician says they're ok.
