  1. I'm having a really strange problem where when I launch a game, my webcam turns on and starts displaying in the top left corner of the screen. So far I have only noticed this on Battlefront 2 (Origin) Project cars 2 (Steam) and Death Stranding (Steam). I know it isn't doing it for Valorant, Beam NG Drive, or GTA5. I have absolutely no idea why it would be doing this and its really annoying to have to turn off/unplug my webcam whenever I want to play one of those games. Funnily enough it also doesn't turn off if I unplug it after the game starts. It will just keep displaying the last frame, making me restart the game to fix it. Does anyone have any idea whats going on here or how to fix it?
  2. Yeah you're totally right. Obviously their claims don't make any sense. I don't doubt that it can upscale, although it will probably be negligible if you even have a 1080p signal. The upscaling and antialiasing claims make a little bit of sense because I've already seen similar products that do that, but the thing that really got me was the depth of field since I know that's essentially impossible without access to the depth buffer.
  3. Just saw an ad for this product First of all they claim that it's essentially a plug in graphics card which makes no sense if you know what a graphics card is. I did a little digging and found out that it's essentially an HDMI post processing thing. It claims to upscale, and add antialiasing which kind of makes sense, but most modern TV's do this anyways so your milage may vary depending on what hardware you are actually running in the first place. But then get this; it also claims to add depth of field effects. Correct me if I'm wrong, but being someone who has spent a good deal of time messing with reshade, I know that you need access to the depth buffer within the graphics api to actually get anything close to good depth of field. So I'm really curious if anyone knows more about how the apparent DOF works on this thing or if that claim is totally offbase.
  4. I'm curious if you every found a solution to this? You are the only person I've found with this exact same issue. It's extremely annoying that UWP apps icons cannot be changed no matter how hard you try.
  5. You can actually use an adapter which allows you to install a normal m.2 drive. http://eshop.sintech.cn/ngff-m2-pcie-ssd-card-as-2013-2014-2015-macbook-ssd-p-1139.html The main barrier is software. I think until now, Apple hasn't allowed third party drives and only allowed their (special ones). from what I read in another article Apple may now support it, but I haven't actually seen anyone do it yet. https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/287644/do-macbooks-support-nvme-ssd-drives-via-the-use-of-a-sintech-adapter So I think Apple supports AHCI drives and not nvme ones. so if I got an AHCI drive would it work? instead of the 960 EVO which is nvme? like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V01C5O2/?tag=stackoverflow17-20
  6. The problem is is that the drive I want to use (a Samsung 960 EVO) isnt actually supported by apple so I don't know if I can boot to the Mac OS. Would I be able to install windows on the old Apple hard drive, then make a system image backup and then restore it to the new drive once I install it?
  7. So my mom got a new macbook and i was just going to use her old one, except its kinda slow, I'm assuming because of performance degradation of the hard drive that has been in it for several years. So basically want to get a newer M.2 SSD and replace the old one, and also install windows on it instead. However at the time it looks like apple doesn't like third party SSD's so I wouldn't be able use bootcamp to dual boot Windows and Mac OS, since I wouldn't be able to get into the Mac OS. I've never rally messed around with Windows licensing or really installing Windows, let alone on a mac. So would there be any way of doing this without actually having the Mac OS?
