  1. I'm using the stock cooler for the fx 8350. My case is the HAF cooler master 912. All of my non used cables are tied up in the back. I just upgraded my motherboard to the msi 970a gaming pro carbon (one that can actually run my fx-8350 fully), but the temps have been insane when it starts getting to work. Idle temps are fine. CPU will be at 20 - 30. Here are some things I went through. The first time I put in the mobo, cpu, and cooler. I ran a project on FL studio just to test things. No lag while running this FL project like I used to get with my old board, but the temp of my mobo and cpu as seen on speccy, core temp, and AMD Overdrive seemed much to high. (Though I didn't really check my temps until I put in this new mobo) All of the readings from the 3 programs line up with each other. After playing a project that would lag with my old mobo for about a minute, my mobo temp would be at like 79-81 while my cpu temp would be at 69/70I realized maybe my temps could be higher than normal because I didn't screw on the cpu cooler holder tight enough, and therefore the cpu cooler might have been loose. Lo and behold, it was loose. So I took it off, cleaned off the thermal paste from the cpu and the cooler, and put it back on tight this time. (It is notoriously hard to strap on the fx stock cooler to the MSI motherboard, so I loosen some of the screws on the plastic component that you lock to the cooler to in order to make it easier to strap on.) After I finished that, I tried playing that project on FL again for a minute and my temps were even hotter. 84/85 degrees for my mobo, 73/75 for my CPU... Ok so I figured maybe I shifted around the cooler too much on the CPU as I was trying to strap in on and it may have messed up the thermal paste application somehow. So I reaaplied thermal paste again, put on the cooler better, and now when I load up the project in FL, my mobo temp is at 81 and cpu temo at 73 before I even play the project! That did not happen before. Before this (yes I am cleaning off the paste well each time btw) when I would load up the FL project, before actually playing it my mobo temp would be at like 55-65 and CPU temp would be around 50...I have no idea what's going on. I've read the fx - 8350 is a hotter chip in general at 125 TDP, and is recocmended that I get an aftermarket cooler like the hyper 212 evo, but should my stuff have been THAT hot in the first place? My fans seem to work fine, and they adjust to the increased temps. And the fact that my temps have gotten worse every time I've tried to put on my cooler again... Any idea of what is going on or what I'm doing wrong, and how to go about fixing this? Also, Speccy lines up with AMD Overdrive in the sense that, if Speccy says my CPU is at 70, then my CPU thermal margin on AMD Overdrive will be at 0. I've seen my margin get to -11/-12 at times while loading up this project or playing it back.
