  1. let's say, another PSU model would work?
  2. So a cheap PSU for the mobo, and a good one for the gpus?
  3. mind giving a good example of a server psu that can be used for atx mobos? also server mobos having problems wiith gpus? never heard of that, mind giving some more info about that too?
  4. Alrighty, so I'm looking forward to start mining. I'm all up to date with mining and stuff, but I've never seen anyone really talk about this too much, so here goes nothing. What if you GPU mine on a server mobojust because you can get more PCIE slots for less money? So, I've got no real idea of what these parts are, they are just being sold as a "server kit" from a site like craiglist but from europe, so don't ask for exact name of the components as I have no idea myself, I'll just be adding the photos that I've got from the seller (as I haven't bought it yet), all I know is that there is a Intel Pentium E5200-dual core, some HP Work Station mobo, and 4GB RAM(probaly ddr2 since there are 4 sticks of ram as seen in the pictures) , also 5 PCIE slots avalible. And so I'm buying this kit for like 65 bucks. My idea now was, I've seen these so called server PSUs, they seem to go so much cheaper, with a way better efficiency most of the times, and by the name "server PSU" I assume that they are made to work 24/7. For the initial thing, I'm just getting started with 3x ASUS STRIX GTX 1050Ti 4GB, and by my calculations, a 750W PSU or anything around there would be enough. The risers I'm willing to use are having the 6-pin connection, so taking that into consideration, 3x6-pin for the risers and 6-pin for the GPUs, I'll need at least 6x6-pin connectors, besides that, I'll need the other pins that will power up the CPU, mobo, and anything else that will have to go inside the mobo (maybe a fan, idk). So, taking everything into consideration, I was wondering, can a single server PSU work for now? Will it be able to power everything up and be as efficient as possible? or should I just go with a normal PC PSU? I'm more into the idea of server PSU because I really am on a budget and trying to spend as less as possible on everything, and as much as possible on the GPUs. I didn't actually see a server PSU with 20+ pins for the mobo and that's also what I'm asking here. I also know some guys that work with these and can mount custom cable sets if I request it, I guess. P.S. I'm here to take any constructive criticism and all, also let me know your ideas. Including pics of one PSU and the mobo kit that I've been talking about
  5. Hey guy, I know that there are some posts around here and around reddit, but I can't seem to find the straight forward answer, so here goes nothing : I have this pretty old (bought in 2008,i believe) pre-build PC, recently I got myself a new gaming rig and no longer see any need for this old guy. Now, this old PC can take up to 3 GPUs (1 riser needed), I assume 5hat I would have to change the existing PSU as it runs at 550W, but I didn't do my research on the PSU part yet, so I'm not sure about this, and as a matter of fact the power price around here is like 0,16$/kW. For the actual question I had in mind is, should I get 3 AMD cards or Nvidia? I don't have the biggest budget ever, so I was considering some GTX 1060s or RX460/RX560/RX570. While considering the Nvidia part, please explain if I should get the 3gb or 6gb and why, because as far as I am concerned there I no real difference in mining while considering the VRAM. For the AMD part I'm pretty much going for the 2gb/4gb editions since I understood that here it makes no sense to get anything more, and that it's a total waste to get 8gb. PS let me know about your rigs and how profitable they are, if they were worth it, and so... Thanks!
  6. Would you mind giving away the specs of you rig and the type of currency that you are mining? Just curious about that. @FlatBrokeRacing
