  1. I have a bunch of photos to edit and stuff to write before I update my build log, but I thought I'd show you guys the latest: Pentium 4 2.4C Asus P4C800-E Deluxe OCZ PC4200 (that's DDR1) GeForce FX 5900 All that's left for Phase 1 is to volt mod the motherboard. The P4C has notorious voltage droop. Even with the vcore pumped crazy high it drops below stock on load, so to get where I'm going I'll have to even that out... in the meantime: So close I can taste it! And while it's not stable enough to boot into windoze... IT POSTS!
  2. Hey look! Goodies! And this is just the cooling gear... Radiators: When I realized I was being a little optimistic with fitting a 360 in the bottom, I decided one radiator just wasn't going to cut it. So I got three radiators. Hardware Labs Black Ice M160GTX, M184GTX, and an L Series 240. Unfortunately I was being a little optimistic about the 3rd radiator, and so the M184 will have to be used for something else. Aw shucks! Water Blocks: DANGER! DANGER! We've got a full Danger Den setup, a TDX CPU block, a pair of SLI Tyee GPU blocks, and a couple Maze 4 chipset blocks (which came all the way from Hungary!). The GPU blocks are made for Radeon X1800s, but I will be adapting one to an Nvidia FX 5900 (details on that later). The pump/res is an Enermax NEOChanger 200ml, and I grabed some Noreprene black tubing that I think is what I'll use in the final build. Probably. I think. Oh, and I grabbed a silver coil. I marked out the cuts needed to make room for the radiators. and got to work with my Dremel! Time for a test fit! Nice and snug, just the way I like it! Note the big rubber feet I picked up. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to mount the reservoir yet (contemplating making some custom U-bolts), so zip ties will have to do for now. The chipsets on 875P boards have silly retention clips instead of mounting holes, so I fashioned some mounting hardware from some fan clips. They work well enough for some testing, but I think I'll need to craft a more robust solution. As for that overclock... progress is being made. Slow tedious progress.
  3. Some of em just have old thermal paste on em, but some had stickers on them that someone put thermal paste right on top of without removing. They come off easy now that they’ve been cooked. 2.4c?
  4. My Pentium 4 habit is getting out of hand... Those ugly ones just showed up from Israel!
  5. Six 140mm fans at full speed should probably be kinda loud. Might want to get a fan controller.
  6. Both were hand me downs from my main system.
  7. my Q6600 bottlenecked my 660 and 770 hard thankyouverymuch
  8. Depending on the motherboard you can get a Xeon X5460 running in the same socket with an adapter for about 30 bucks. Big upgrade from those Q6600s.
  9. Really? I feel like that has more in common with a 1080... then again, everything since the 280 looks the same to me. To tell the truth I picked it because it’s layed out like a Radeon X1800.
  10. my new baby is here and ready for a water block:
  11. Is that a P4 Titan with a DPS2 power module?! How does it'd OC? Inquiring minds need to know!
  12. I'm slowly amassing a pile of goodies. Updates soon.
  13. I am so sad about all the images I've lost due to hosting issues... I have an entire modded rig I spent forever on (and it was gorgeous) with zero documentation to show for it.
  14. I mean, no, I bought a 9800 Pro at the time. But it's 15 years later and I'm water cooling.
  15. And a 5800 still outperforms a 9700 Pro, it was just too little too late for too much money, at the time. Fifteen years later? Who cares? (edit: sorry, meant 9700, not 9800)
  16. I was mostly kidding, but I recall having issues running Doom 3 on my Radeon right when it came out, and ATI driver issues in general (remember Omega drivers?). I know that I ended up playing the game on my FX 5600 for some reason or another. Yeah, the Radeons where the Champions of that era, but the FX series has a bad rap. (Also the 5900 Ultra is NV35, a revised and much better chip than the NV30 most FXs are based on.)
  17. How dare you sir! Just for that I'm putting a 5900 Ultra in 1200 or Butts. Doom 3 ran way better on my overclocked FX 5600 than my 9800 Pro.
  18. I've found the alcohol to be pretty useless with some older silicone-y stuff, patient elbow grease and maybe some goo gone will usually get it done though.
  19. What is that delectable temptress? Radeon 9500 maybe? edit: geforce 3 Ti 200?
  20. I started fiddling with my CPU: I'm obviously hitting some sort of wall here, as I'm having trouble getting anything past 250 (base FSB) to even POST at all. I've probably just lost the silicon lottery with my $5 dollar CPU, as I have the same wall with both IC7-Gs at my disposal, but RAM may also be an issue. I've got 2x256 sticks on the way (should give more OC headroom) and I grabbed a lot of 5 more processors. I did get the P4 3.0 that came with the second mobo up to 3.7Ghz... but it's a Prescott so: Booooring!
  21. There was defs a 133. The first cpu I ever bought! Kicked my 120 non MMX's ass.
