Alienware Power Limit Throttling
MooOfDoom replied to MooOfDoom's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Nvm I was just playing MFS and it started to throttle again. It has PL 2 on the core area and EDP OTHER on the ring area red. I have my voltage offset on my cpu core and cache at -80V as anymore an my computer will crash. Am I only supposed to change the cpu core or the cache as well because that could be why my computer crashed when I undervolted it to -125V. My turbo time limit is 28 seconds and my turbo power maxes are the same as they were in the previous images I posted in the thread. I have enabled speedshft btw. It also doesn't currently throttle when I run cinebench R20, only when im playing something like MFS does it throttle. (MFS is Microsoft Flight Simulator) -
Alienware Power Limit Throttling

Hey mate thanks for your response. I recently figured out the problem and how to fix it. In the bios I had to turn on cpu performance mode and the voltage limit got increased. I also turned on speedstep and set an epp setting of 0 for max performance. My computer now hits around 85W and isn't throttling anymore although im going to undervolt it further as I know I can push it further. Thanks -

Alienware Power Limit Throttling

It doesn't go down to 2.20 it goes down to 3.6 from 3.9. Also if you looked at the Turbo Boost image that I attached you can see that I already maxed out the turbo boost time. -
Alienware Power Limit Throttling

Hey thanks for the suggestion. I just tried that and I managed to get it to around 75W with the undervolt however, it still throttles around 30 seconds after I start the stress test. -
Hello, I have been trying to play games on my Alienware laptop when all of a sudden I start to lose frames (its like 20-30 frames). I couldn't figure out what the problem was until recently. I am almost certain that my computer power limit throttling is the reason why I drop frames when playing. If anyone on here could tell me how to fix this issue that would be great. Thank you I have attached some images of my Throttlestop config. At the beginning of a stress test it doesn't limit the power but after about 30 seconds it goes from around 85W to 60W.

I would have to say that its the processor that is bottlenecking the gpu performance.

Ok gonna clear up a few things here. First the drives wern't going to be raided but now that i think about it would be logical to do so. Second I wasn't even going to use an ultrawide as I don't think it is necessary for what i am doing although in the future i probably will. And last i already found a 1440p ips panel for like $100 dollars more so i'm gonna use that.

Also just realized about the WLAN adapter thing lol. And the fan thing is i want my pc to be extra cool but i do understand your point.

That's why I wen't with an 850W

Thank you for the advice.

If you could can you tell me what is wrong with the parts I selected.

Ok so I am wondering. What company is best for gaming. Some people say Intel and some people say Amd. Iv'e already picked out the parts to my pc with an Intel chip but I still can't decide. I'm looking for the best gaming performace with the ability to recording videos and 1080p and do very basic video editing. I do think Intel would be better for my use case but I want to know what you guys think. I also want to game normally at 1440p and 144hz when i'm not recording. Thank you Pc part picker list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yWrCBP Ps: If my fans or anything don't match i'm working on it.
