  1. So as the title says I'm getting noise in my mixer set up. I'll quickly describe my set up before describing the problem. So my set up includes a mixer (Behringer Xenyx QX1204) with a TV and a Jack input for guitar running into it. It outputs both to a pair of speakers monitors and my pc via USB. On the PC side of things I have Voicemeeter Banana with my mixer, capture card and my desktop audio all running through it. Voicemeeter outputs to my wireless Logitech headphones via ASIO4ALL (for better latency) and to my speaker monitors via my mixer. The noise I get is exclusive to the TV I run the pc through (as well as ps5 and switch). The pc runs to the tv with a 5m hdmi cable (for any games I like to play in "console mode" with a controller or just an extra monitor when needed) and the tv runs to the mixer via a 3.5 to jack cable through the headphones/line out port. The noise will be bad if I have a game or something running or if I'm using the pc isn't simply idle. If the pc is mostly idle and I'm only using the tv (either using one of the consoles or watching something) then the noise is much quieter and almost manageable with mild noise gate set on voicemeeter. It's also worth noting that if I unplug the 3.5m jack from the tv (but leave it plugged into the mixer on the other side) I get the typical loud hum like you might with a guitar amplifier with it's jack unplugged. No noise at all if I unplug or mute the tv from the mixer. I've uploaded examples of both the bad noise when using the pc and the quieter noise when it's more idle (this one has been boosted some to be easily audible but usually quieter than the recording). I suspect the loud noise is probably coming from the pc (or more specifically the graphics card) when it's actually under load somewhat. I'm not sure about the quieter noise really. If anyone has any suggestions on what they think the source might be let me know. Also what should I be looking to do to treat/eliminate the noise? Thanks! 2. Don't those power states pretty much axe your ability to have the system in a sleep or hibernate state without having to reboot? I do use those a decent amount. Might be a good temporary measure though.
  3. So as the title says. My motherboard on-board LEDs stay on in rainbow mode when the system is turned off. It only randomly started happening a week or so ago and even though I've gone into the bios several times and changed the led option for when the system is in sleep mode or powered down to the off option the LEDs will still be on when the system is off. If I go back into the bios the option will be back to the on option, even though I save changes every time I turn it off in there. I found a couple of threads about it being an armoury crate thing and that there's an option for led effects while the system is off in there but I couldn't find any relevant options anywhere. Any suggestions? I'm no to sure what to try now. Thanks!
  4. Roger that. The rest all said that bios updates might be necessary before the cpu would work but I dont think my bud would care much for that. He also doesn't mind too much about budget.
  5. Budget (including currency): $2000-$2500 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: General Gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): A rtx 3080 and a power supply are being reused form another pc so they are missing from the list. The compatibility notes mention the AIO might need a mounting bracket? Is that the case? If so what is the bracket? The list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vKX2Dq
  6. Yeah I suspected it was probably a software level thing, just wanted to make sure it was still present utilising dolby atmos with generic drivers instead of ghub.
  7. So I have these headphones. I'm perfectly happy with them so far. However I have been trying to find out if the headphones have built in 7.1 surround sound capability or if this is just something that's achieved through Logitechs GHub dts software. The reason I ask is because I would rather run them through dolby atmos (I think it sounds better) but to do that I would need to run the headphones using the generic usb audio driver instead of the logitech drivers. If I do that will the headphones still have 7.1 capability with dolby atmos? Or will they effectively become just stereo headphones?
  8. So I nipped over to a friends with it and it worked fine on their pc. formatted it again there and now I shows up fine on my pc. Who knows what the issue was, another windows mystery I guess.
  9. It was used for an xbox originally but I got from a friend second hand a handful of years ago. Used to use it with w10 no problem before but dug it out again recently
  10. I also have other ext driver that work fine on the windows machine too.
  11. I have a 500gb external hdd. When I try plug it into my (windows 11) pc I get a usb device not recognised error pop up. I doesn't show up in disk manager either. The device manager entry says the following: "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" The weird thing is if I plug the hdd into my old (2011 model) macbook pro the drive is recognised fine and shows no issues. I have also tried reformatting the drive using the mac but no joy with that either. Any ideas?
  12. OK so got the replacement power supply, fitted it (and after the mandatory moment of "S*** it still doesn't work!" after forgetting the power switch on the psu) everything seems to be working smoothly, Had to reinstall windows too though so guess something must have become corrupted when the old one went. Thumbs up to Corsair for making units that can die gracefully when they go!
  13. I'm not there just now so can't check the exact model but I think it had a 80 plus bronze I remember right. Didn't catch any visible damage at a glance before I left but hopefully when the replacement arrives all will be fine!
  14. So my nephews PSU just died. The system had been having issues for a short while before that. (Like blue screens, boot troubles etc.) Am I right in assuming the culprit was the psu then? It just died when he flipped the power switch on earlier. (popped the breaker in the house as well) Have to wait a day or two for a replacement unit to arrive but how concerned should he be about his other components? The unit was a Corsair 850W. Thanks!
  15. Well I just disabled and re-enabled hdr in w11 and it seems to have stopped for now so I think it's windows being weird again.
  16. So I set up a new c1 oled today (I'm using as a monitor as I have decent cover coverage on the unit). I've noticed though that when I'm using it with windows (11) sometimes the screen will flash when I'm typing or suddenly darken if I hover over a link in chrome. I've had a dig around the settings on the tv but I'm not sure what's causing this. Anyone familiar with the this tv that has come across this or now how to stop it? Thanks in advance! PS. I linked a quick video showing the flashes when I'm typing:
  17. So it works 8 times out of 10. But every now and again the wallpaper will change but won't display correctly. The top half of the screen will be one wallpaper and the bottom half another. Anyone encountered this before or have any ideas on how to sort this? I run all my wallpapers through photoshop so they all match my native resolution (2160p). I've tried setting a solid background and then going back to the slideshow but it still pops up again after a bit. Edit: Attached photo example.
  18. Yeah I might have to go that route tbh. I did come across that thread before but it didn't seem to help.
  19. I have some xbox live ports forwarded but that was set up after the problem manifested.
  20. So I've been having an issue where after I initially download a game, it will not recieve updates. Then after it becomes to out of date online features like multiplayer etc. no longer work. To get the updated game files I have to uninstall the games and reinstall them again, after which the problem continues. Has anyone else had this issue or know what could be causing this? I only did a fresh install of w10 2/3 weeks ago too and I happened before that also.
  21. I found it, it's all working now. That was much easier than I expected, like it when that happens! Thanks!
  22. So I was looking to try the w11 insider stuff but it says my system is not compatible. I'm pretty sure it's because my motherboard lacks a TPM module. It does have a header though so I'm looking to buy one (when they're in stock for less than the ebay scalper prices). My question is I know nothing about TPM modules is there a specific one I would need to buy? Also is there any other compatibility I need to check my system for before I buy one? Lastly I'm wondering if there was anything I missed with the w11 compatibility and my system, it should be compatible after I have the TPM module right? My system: CPU : i7 8700k MB : Asus ROG Maximus X Hero GPU : Gigabyte RTX 2080 RAM : 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 MHz
  23. So as said in title while I have a second monitor plugged into my graphics card most games (not all) when launched will immediately minimise to the taskbar and whenever I try to click on the game on the task bar, or attempt to alt+tab back onto it, it will maximise for a split second before returning to its minimised state again. This will happen until I close the game unplug the second monitor and then launch the game again. After that it will behave normally and happily. This is obviously extremely annoying as I have to unplug my second screen almost every time I launch a game. My primary monitor is a Predator XB281HK using DP running in 4k and my second screen is one of those old small LG TV/DVD combos using HDMI running in 1080p. Both have the same scaling of 150% set. Has anyone else had similar issues or any ideas on how to get rid of this pest of a problem? Thanks! More system stats if anyone wants to know: Intel i7 8700K OC to 4.5 Ghz RTX 2080 (GIGABYTE OC verison) ROG Maximus X Hero motherboard 32Gb 3200 DDR4 RAM 1Tb Samsung evo m.2 drive couple 1Tb hdds
  24. So I have a 48 inch 4k tv that I have been using with my pc since I built it about a year or so ago but recently got a 28 inch Predator monitor for super cheap from a friend that didnt need it. I would like to keep the 4k tv as my main display because I watch a lot of media, films etc. that would benefit from this over the monitor but I would like to use the monitor for whenever I do game. My desk isn't so wide so a side by side setup isn't an option here. I've been looking for a wall mount for the monitor that would allow me to have the monitor above my tv, but when want to game on it, be able to pull it out and down infront of the tv instead of my head at such an upward angle for so long. I can't find any mounts for monitors that seem to faciliate this, there are some tv ones for fireplaces that more or less do what I'm looking for but they are for larger sizes than my monitor is and cost a bomb. Does anyone know of a mount that might work, or have any ideas / suggestions on how I could achieve this? Thanks in advance!
