  1. Is 4.5 years considered old for a laptop. Is replacing thermal paste even worth it for the chance that it might improve the temps?
  2. Been noticing stuttering (sound and video) in games that I am running on a laptop. I haven't been using my laptop intensively for the last 6 months, but I never remembered it doing this while playing games. Been checking some temps and my laptop's CPU is running at 67C to 70C idle and then when under load it jumps straight to 95C or so with the CPU load at maybe 20-30%. Also, I'm not sure if it's related or not but the laptop has been crashing intermittently (blue screens) for the past year or so. The displayed errors are usually to do with memory (corrupted, overflow). I took the cover off and cleaned/blew out the fans and vents, but it hasn't helped much. Not sure what the problem is (old thermal paste?, more dust, etc. in the fans, cooling?). One other thing that I noticed is that the CPU is rated at 2.4GHz, but task manager displays it running at 3.2~GHz, not sure if it's related or not. Hardware: Owned this laptop almost 4.5 years now... ASUS N550JK
  3. Just saw the video by Linus on the Aorus Gaming Box. I have an ASUS laptop that does not have Thunderbolt 3. The closest I/O that it has to this is mini display port. Link to specs linked below. I'm trying to get some more life out of laptop by enhancing the graphics capabilities. 95% of the time I use my laptop with an external display. Is it possible to adapt mini displayport to Thunderbolt to the Aorus Gaming Box. Would like to verify this first before spending money. I use a 1080p monitor with my laptop and don't have any plans of going to a higher resolution display anytime soon, so even if the mini displayport throttles the connection it wouldn't be the end of the world for me. Has anyone tested this or are there any other options for laptops that don't have Thunderbolt 3? https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Laptops/N550JK/specifications/
