  1. I just checked the direct feed into my apartment and can confirm its atleast not my router giving the problems. I have also tried another ethernet cable and usb wireless card. What would be the most likely culprit to check?
  2. No I did not. The most I have done is maybe 8 hours as I need to use my computer for school and work purposes during the day.
  3. Randomly, my computer started lagging in multiplayer games, and only multiplayer games. I can run single player games like Doom, Prey, Crysis, Shadows of Mordor, R6 Siege Singleplayer (Situations and Terrorist Hunt) at 1080p Ultra Setting at 120+Hz with no problems. However, whether its PUBG, CS:GO, Overwatch, TF2, or Siege, MY movement starts lagging. I can shoot or do actions just fine, as well as my allies/enemies move perfectly, however, my character will run then stop as if he's hit an invisible wall. Its about every 1.5 seconds or 2 seconds consistently (Human error so I'm not sure which one it is as I normally stop it between 1.6 or 1.9 depending on my reaction time). The consistency is the weird spot as it happens at a constant rhythm. Restarting my PC normally helps, but then it starts up again after awhile. My rig is here. The only OC is the processor at 3.7 Ghz at 1.35V and its been working well so far. The MSI Afterburner readings in-game show that utilization is normally averaging under 80%, if not lower, on GPU and CPU. I ran Memtest98 overnight and it passed all the tests. I ran 5 different ping tests and all five came back with less than 14ms ping, except one time to Brazil that was 38ms. My speed is 748.56Mbps down and 546.16Mbps up. I'm not sure if its a hardware or network thing as it only affects multiplayer games.
  4. I was just planning on chrome, steam, battlenet, uplay, etc and any non-essential system files stored on my hard drive and leave the SSD purely for booting and select games. My Steam account is here. I don't know why, but I just noticed a lot of my hours reset somehow so I'll just say that, besides the above, I've been playing a lot of Prey, DOOM, X-COM, Fighting games, Metro and Quake Champions (and games similar). I normally swap around once I beat them (besides the heavily multiplayer ones), so any obvious ones that would really benefit would be appreciated.
  5. I'm getting a 240 gb SSD and was wondering what specific games are good to install on there instead of my HDD. So far, Overwatch, PUBG and Witcher 3 are highly recommended and that's about 60Gb plus windows is 20Gb so I'll have about 160 Gb left. I don't play Skyrim, Fallout 4 (although 3 and New Vegas) or GTA V which are recommended too. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post my Steam account if that would help?
  6. Looked at both Overwatch and CSGO and both should be able to do 144fps at 1080p with around high-epic settings and low AA, so I might be good. Yeah, I heard that Ethereum and Bitcoin are going down, but it seems they might be going back up. I'm hoping that after the holidays there will be some deals or used cards. Thanks! I looked at a few comparisons and it looks like, out of the games I played, besides things like Shadow of Mordor and Witcher 3, and sometimes Overwatch, the RX 580 does better for the most part. It just might be the games used for the benchmarking, but depending on pricing I might do the RX 580, but I'll check a few more benchmarks.
  7. Right now, I'm trying to upgrade my PC and I'm having trouble deciding between the two graphics cards. I'm looking mainly for medium/high quality at 144fps for competitive games (Overwatch) and high/ultra quality at 60fps for AAA games (Metro, Witcher, Tomb Raider, Doom, Prey,PUBG, etc). The cheapest GTX 1060 6Gb right now is EVGA Gaming at $260 and the cheapest RX 580 right now is the Asus Dual at $270. Is it better to buy now while I can, or wait to see if the prices go back to MSRP of $250 and $230, respectively, within the first few months of 2018? I know RX 580 has better DX12 and Vulcan support, Freesync (monitors seem cheaper) and overall average FPS, but does NVidia Gameworks, lower power consumption and better DX11 (in most older games) tip the scales?
  8. I may reuse part, definitely. I'm going to see if it will cost lest marginally by selling my old computer as a whole or selling each excess component individually (unless you/anyone has an educated guess).
  9. Whoops, that's my bad in the build. Should just be the same PSU, forgot to add the M.
  10. Right now, I am looking to upgrade from my old computer here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vgVQTH. I'm upgrading from this one because it can take a while for videos to render (we get Adobe CC Premier free) and some games are only running on 1080p low quality at or sub 60fps (Overwatch, Pubg, Prey, Doom, etc). My planned build right now is: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CzMk4C. What is going on, is this semester I will also need to do CAD, programming, and some computer simulations (I know I will be using at least Unity for "games", I believe) along with the above video rendering for classes and research. I will also try gaming on it, and possibly streaming, at medium-high quality 1080p 60fps. If at all possible, 1080p 144fps, and finally, if it's within budget, 1440p 144fps. I already found a used monitor for 1440p and 144hz but my graphics card can't handle it yet. I may buy a smaller monitor to use for having textbooks open, music playlists or,if I do it, viewing stream comments. Finally, my budget is US$800, but if I could bring it closer to US$700 or even US$600 and still be able to do the rendering and gaming, that would be amazing. I know already that I could wait to see if the RX 580 4/8Gb drops back to $200/$230 MSRP, the 1060 6Gb at $260 or get the CPU,GPU and RAM used for much cheaper overall. Some components may be overkill so any help narrowing down the needed specs and overall cost would be fantastic and appreciated!
