  1. All of these really kinda look painful to bring to classes tho
  2. Nothing bigger than a 15 inch, but it can go to as small as my old X230. I would like it slim, but being a little bit more thicc is fine
  3. I'm going to want to keep it for all of college, SSD and 8GB of RAM is a must.
  4. Hey I'm going to be going to school for computer science next year and I was looking for a laptop to take around to classes. I wanted a laptop that has the following: Sub $1000 Thicc Battery Good keyboard Somewhat powerful, if I have to do anything remotely intensive I can RDP in to my desktop Be able to do most things in IDEs like Eclipse and IntelliJ Possibly 2 in 1? 8 GB of RAM is a must I was possibly looking at a used Macbook Pro or a Yoga 460 Thanks!
  5. I did 6 passes on MemTest and it came back with no errors, SMART says everything is doing good, drivers are up to date. I then tried another nic instead of the mobo one and it displayed the same BSOD.
  6. I have the Alienware 15 R2 with a 970. Performance is great, the only con I find with mine is where when it first ramps up fan speed while gaming it sounds like a turbine, but then gets quiet 10 seconds after. RGB is nice, speakers are nice, speakers are nice, keyboard is above average, TactX keys have a lot to be desired. Overall, my favorite laptop I've owned. Edit: also buy an ssd and install it, it makes it 10x more nice
  7. I got mine for super cheap and I like it a lot. It has a pretty good battery life once the Optimus drivers kick into the Intel graphics and I can push around 4~5 hours during programming use in robotics. If you have any questions please ask!
  8. Random times when playing video in VLC I'll blue screen with the error RDR_FILE_SYSTEM. Only happens in VLC, not Groove nor Windows Media Player. Here are my specs: i7 3820 Sapphire 7970 16gb of RAM 2TB Segate Barracuda + 840 Evo I have updated the latest everything in drivers Here is the dump from BlueScreenView: ==================================================Dump File : 100916-14562-01.dmpCrash Time : 10/9/2016 11:34:26 AMBug Check String : RDR_FILE_SYSTEMBug Check Code : 0x00000027Parameter 1 : 00000000`fcb0027cParameter 2 : ffffbb8c`a94d13d8Parameter 3 : ffffbb8c`a94d1010Parameter 4 : 00000000`00000000Caused By Driver : rdbss.sysCaused By Address : rdbss.sys+fd19File Description : Product Name : Company : File Version : Processor : x64Crash Address : ntoskrnl.exe+14a2b0Stack Address 1 : Stack Address 2 : Stack Address 3 : Computer Name : Full Path : C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\100916-14562-01.dmpProcessors Count : 8Major Version : 15Minor Version : 14393Dump File Size : 459,108Dump File Time : 10/9/2016 11:35:21 AM==================================================
  9. Honestly since you're new to the commentating game, I think the standard Blue Yeti is a great microphone to start out with. You also get more money to save for a boom arm
  10. I'll always recommend an external DAC and AMP for your computer vs an internal soundcard, and yeah the drivers would work
  11. PSU looks good. Yesterday on one of my monitors it started having the weird graphical glitches in chrome. It was just colored blocks flying over the screen. So now that we know it's the graphics card, it's on to Pascal. Thanks for all the help!
  12. I will try this in the morning and give you the results. Thank you for the help.
  13. Well if it's the GPU, it's a great time to upgrade to pascal I guess.
