  1. I had to repaint 4 times. Because of....GLOSS. Its the bane of my existence. Gloss black especially. I am kind of a perfectionist though. Other people would have been fine with my paint jobs, but I like PERFECT EVEN SHEEN and gloss is so hard to get perfect. But nice job
  2. did you have to submit drawings or plans to MSI? Or just describe the idea? Looking forward to seeing more!
  3. thanks, hey i printed off a fan grill from the only site I could find once I googled it, was that your site? The site that sells like fan grills and you have templates and stuff in pdf form?
  4. Haha thanks! I saw it first on Instagram, then someone said its on their facebook!
  5. thanks man! it sure did, i bet if i did it again, it wouldnt take 4 months, i learned alot on the way to the end
  6. please show me once you do, honesltly i was really hoping i could start a trend for others covering cables or motherboards for the ultimate clean look, its already kind of being adopted as ASUS armor boards are really taking off. (But if you go armor route, its VERY labor intensive, not the cutting, but the measuring or template creation). But yea I gots to see your next build
  7. thanks, yea I had to make a custom rad mount, but you can buy one cheap https://www.amazon.com/XSPC-Universal-RadStand-Radiator-Mounting/dp/B004KO9DA0 it fits any size, then you can move the fans to the front like I did
  8. Ok here are the final pics, i think it came out great, but I built it how i wanted it, so of course im going to like it..... I hope others do to, remember I went for cleanliniess first, no cables, transistors, cap banks etc. to be visible, and I wanted hidden lights and skulls. Thats what i wanted.Unfortunately I had to use an iphone....No DSLR. But I did go to alot of trouble to buy diffusers for some LEDs and also bought blackout paper for background. I did the best I could, and it sucks using iphone because the shots with NO outside light, all came out crappy, so I included only 1 shot with no room lighting... My fav part, the floor, you can see it in the second pic, or the mobo armor, that took forevor and day.
  9. thanks i just got back from the store, buying white and black backdrops for the pictures. The build is actually nicer looking than most will assume. I purposely have released very little in an effort to have it be a surprise at reveal. In all honesty its going to be one of the cleanest case mods ever done. There are alot of super clean mods out there, but none to this extent. Only thing im sad about, is I couldnt get a DSLR in time....Will have to use my Iphone, but at least its the newest Iphone X, and I unlocked full control of exposure ISo and focus. Hopefully the pictures will give it a little bit of accurate representation, even though from being there in person, no camera on earth can represent like being in person does.
  10. Ok this is Officially REALLY OFFICIALLY the final update. Expect pictures for final reveal on Friday, I need to take today and see if I can find or borrow a better than iphone camera, if I cant, oh well. Iphone X takes really good pictures in the light, it just suffers a little in real low light scenarios. So guess what? Im in love. I fell in love with that barrow (or bitspower makes it too) expandable/retractable G 1/4 fitting. It saved my ass, and fixed my leak, and my system is up and running! It took a previously difficult 2 hour fitting install at the reservoir, and turned it into a super easy, leak proof, 5 min install. I could not be happier with that fitting. Could not recommend to anyone any more than I am now. It is AWESOME The only problem I have now is GSKIL ram sucks. One of the sticks wont work. It has a mind of its own, and changes to whatever color it wants. Everything else works fine, all other lighting, including the other RAM stick, so I dont know what to do. I wish I could return it but its too late.
  11. the problem is online only sells it in increments of 5's, and one in 7.5. So 7.5,10,15,20,30,40,60. So unless you have one that is exactly even increment, it wont fit. I couldnt at least, I had x1- 7.5, x 2-10's, and x1-15, and i couldnt get it to fit. .... so i dont know....I could try ordering a a few of 7.5's and that might work but it would suck to order a ton of fittings that might not work. Although these telescopic ones might not work. They have good reviews on amazon though....Only 1 bad review, and it said if you extend it all the way it leaks a little, but anything less than fully extended and it works. That was 1 bad review ouf of 15.... So my hopes are kinda high
  12. thanks! I was considering that, it would just have a wider than tube gap to somehow fill in. But omg, guess what! Someone on reddit recomended this item below, I didnt even know such a thing existed!!! In all my years I have NEVER heard of such a thing! Im so stoked to try it i ordered 2 sizes to be overnighted, so I should know tomorow how it works!!! I have heard good things! ITS RETRACTABLE OR EXTENDABLE! how in the world does that work? That is amazing.
  13. So I finished my build on sunday. Started to prep for taking final pictures while also getting all the protective paper off and ready to start filling it up with water. And. It. Started. Leaking. I have never had a leak before. Thank god it wasnt over my mobo and it was not near equipment cause it was coming out fast. Although if the leak was any other tube it would have been easy to fix. Of course it leaked on the HARDEST tube to install. A tube that took me hours to get in. The 1 inch tube. There is just NO ROOM TO Maneuver. I dont know how to fix it either, im at my wits end, and so close to finishing and so ready to just give up. I tried fittings only, and it didnt work. I tried a 1" tube and that didnt work. I dont know how to fix it...... I HATE SHORT TUBE RUNS 1" or so. I think the tube might have been too short maybe? Again, the lip is just too hard to get it past if its any longer. I cant put too much force or risk breaking the tubing or res bracket thats just got 1 super tiny screw holding it onto the already brittle acrylic backplate. Should I do just the res parts soft tubing? Thats the only thing I can think of......Maybe a short soft tube run will go on easier? The leak The problem Any suggestions?
  14. Ok last update. Sometime next week will be the reveal. Trust me, it will look different than even what has been seen, it will look much cleaner. As that was the goal, super super clean and lit up nicely. I kind of finished all the tube routing. There was only big problem that occured, ill explain below. Here is an overview of the basementHere is the first 3 tube runs I did, they went flawlessly, and fast and easy, even with the limited spatial access. Soft tubes way easier. Goes from res to pump. Here is The rad to GPUs Top close up. This was some tight spaces, but only that 1-2 inch run gave me any trouble, I had to extend the fittings farther down to make it work. I hate short runs, there is no give, its hard with short or long tubes, when you only have an inch or two of tubing to use. Here is where they connect to the rad for a bottom shot.Ok here is where I encountered a problem. I spent 3 hours trying to get these tubes connected. They look connected, but there not secured tightly. For these 4 fittings, I used a different brand than XSPC. I used Touchaquana. I got them because they are DIRT cheap but you get what you pay for. I used some Touchaquana extenders, and they worked fine, but they suck at compression fittings. First they were hard to get the tube onto, but the main problem is the compression ring will not secure all the way on. I just cant have that, secure fittings is the main concern when looking for a good fitting. After hours of trying I only got 1 of the 4 to secure, so I just ordered some more XSPC fittings which worked great. I will have to redo these top runs. Dont buy these ever to save money, i mean get barrow if you want a cheaper fitting, at least barrow fittings work..
  15. Keep it up! I cant believe how many views you have here. I kinda posted an update just like that one you did, where you were like, how do i not have more than like 4 comments. I have less people on OC.net looking or commenting now, than I did when I first introduced my build. Its like a ghost town on all the sites. I guess we are just not famous enough, i just worry because my final reveal is next week, and no one but a few people will see it im afraid.
  16. subbing, please do more justice to this case than Linus did. I mean Linus did fine work inside this case, he just didnt do anything "extra". He just plugged in the components. Hopefully you can put some personality or mods to this case that really showcase what this can potentially be. Cant wait to see!
  17. Hmmmm very few comments/views here, not sure if I'm too new here, or maybe just no one thinks this will turn out good?Whatever the reason, I am going to either make this my last update, or I will consider doing one more final update on monday maybe, of the tubing runs in back of case. (Although does anyone really want to see how I run the back and basement tubes? I doubt it... ) Then after the "potential" update on monday it will be a few added days more, while I take final pictures/video, and then It will be the final reveal. So hopefully I didn't lose everyone (or never gain anyone) before the reveal next week. Months of work coming to a close. Here are the last front of case pictures I will release. Did the CPU runs, in the all vertical runs I wanted. I mounted the pump with Tape only. Im super nervous about that, I really wanted to screw it in, I just couldnt do both screws and front facing, so I just went with super strong tape. I watched videos, it had a 100lbs shear strength, and a 250lb tactile strength. So I dont see why this wont hold it tight. If someone SPECIFICALLY asks for that final update, of basement and back of case tubing runs, Ill do that monday, otherwise, Im signing out untill the reveal sometime next week, after the final pictures are taken.
  18. Yea i have heard that a few times now, people saying wow man you have alot more patience than me, and I think its because I wanted this build as clean and as perfect as I could possibly do. In the past I always looked at a build or two and went, you know, if I wasnt so rushed to finish this, I could have done more. This build, I didnt want to look back and say I could have done better/more. So I mentally prepared myself before starting that this build was going to take some time. (although I didnt expect painting to be so hard and take so long) Im also going to do an update and a reply all in one. Here is what I did last night, Im soooo glad I scrapped the painted PETG tubes, and purchased my first set of acrylic tubing, colored acrylic. Its VERY reflective, and EXACTLY what I wanted. I wanted the tubing and floor of this build to be reflective black, the walls to be matte, and a few components to be black brushed metal. I got everything I wanted and im so happy with the choices. Does anyone know if VHB or Gorilla Tape is strong enough to hold a pump in place? Or is that dumb, and it has to be screwed in? Cause right now the only way to screw it in is having the pump face away from me, making it difficult to put the tubing in..... Drilling new holes is not possible due to spatial access. See here its away
  19. So I finally am really starting watercool routing now. The end is in sight. I connected the reservoir route up last night. The top took me about 10 min. The bottom however, took me almost 3 hours. To do 1 single run. If anyone knows a tip/trick for short runs I would love to hear it. I really struggle to connect a short 1 inch run. I tried fittings only didnt work, I just couldnt get it the perfect height. And even with using a short tube, the compression fittings kept me from being able to have the compression fittings installed into the components first, and snapping the tube and compressions in. So I had to put the compression fittings on the tubes first, and try to get those in that way instead. The problem I had was, in order for the male end of the compression fitting to get into the G 1/4 female opening, it has to pass the lip of the G 1/4 fitting. (See image below) Now a shorter tube will get passed the lip and into the female end, no problem, but then it wont screw in all the way once inside. Long tube runs are easy and have some give to them, and some movement, but what about short runs where there is NO give on the component or tube.... I spent hours using every option and alot of strength trying to force it in. Im suprised I didnt break anything. But after hours I got it done. Res complete.I also had some time to install GPU and GPU cover. I will have some time tonight to do a couple runs, then will take a day off and start back thursday, and should be complete this weekend!
  20. It was rustoleum engine enamel high heat spray paint. I cleaned it with water and it stayed on fine. It only came off like butter when I put that label and sticker remover liquid on it, Im guessing it just eats it up like paint thinner..... Wont use that again... And also the heatsinks are SUPER slick, so that adds to the ease of it coming off I think.
  21. Dude yours looked great! Mine, I had to redo over and over and over for almost 3 weeks. Then do it again because of syran wrap..... Ughhhhh I must have sanded it all off and redid it all like 6 times. So that was initially a big concern of mine. There was a problem 2 fold. The first, the paint itself would hurt heatsinks temps. But I bought a special high heat paint that is made up of ceramic particles, that is supposed to be really good for heat dissipation. Then there was the concern the acrylic armor would somehow trap in heat, or melt. But I did alot of research and it seemed that the heatsinks should never get hot enough to melt it, at least I really hope it doesnt. And as for trapping in the heat, I dont think it will.....I guess I will just have to wait and see...... I will montior temps VERY closely the first few weeks. I will put a ton of load on them the first couple days and use a heat gun and sensors and just keep an eye on it. But if people can cover them in freakin plastidip, and just regular ol paint, I dont see why ceramic paint on it, and acrylic a mm or two away from the edges, will make a big difference. No one has ever done a build like this before, so its kind of new territory. I will keep ya updated.
