  1. Ah sorry! I don't actually have any, I don't need them! My tv is just for streaming and gaming.
  2. What do you mean by switching channels? do you mean switching from device to device? if so I don't use the tv, I use a remote control for the switch. The TV is permanently set to use optical over the TV speakers.
  3. Hey thanks for explaing all that! I drew up a diagram in paint to explain my scenario The red line shows how the set up currently is, the soundbar going directly into only one device. Since the hdmi from the switch was passing through audio I was able to set my tv to use the optical. But since that port is broken I don't have the option. Will something like this help me get my old setup back? thanks for all the help.
  4. Does this do literally what it says? Optical into device from sound bar > hdmi from the device to the tv and it will just pass through Audio?
  5. Hey guys, The optical port on my LG TV (42lb561v) is currently broken which is rendering my soundbar useless. Is there any adapter or switch I can use to pass audio from my sound bar to my tv by using a hdmi port or coax etc..?
  6. Alright, sweet! thanks for all the help!
  7. so if i connect the soundbar to the TV via optical, all audio for all devices will by default go to the sound bar? sorry if that's a silly question, i just want to know if its plug and play basically.
  8. Do nearly all soundbars support optical?
  9. Hey guys, I'm in the market for a soundbar, it's my first time buying one so you'll have to keep things dumbed-down for me. I'll keep this really simple, this is what I want; I've got an LG 32lb560b TV ( https://i.imgur.com/2YMYUgf.jpg - here's the I/O) I want to be able to connected a relatively decent soundbar (around 350$) to my tv and have the audio for things like my xbox one S, PS4 and raspberry PI running kodibunt going through the soundbar. What do I need to do/buy to achieve this? Also, if i could get a soundbar that allowed me to plug an auxiliary cable into it that would be even better.. Thank you in advance for any help given!
  10. Great stuff, Thanks for all the help man!
  11. Hey man thanks for the reply, I'm dreadful at networking unfortunately. Lets say I connect the two routers together via an Ethernet cable, is everything then passed through to the second router and that's told to handle all the bandwidth usage? Essentially what im asking is do i need to decommission the ISP router in a way? is it simply plug and play? also, would you have any recommendations on what router to get
  12. Hi guys, I've been looking for a new router but I'm not sure which one is best for me. My current router is one that my isp provided and it's not too good when it comes to customization and configuration. Even things like parental controls are just non existent on it. If I want a website blocked I need to email my isp with a reason why I want it blocked. Theres a small box on the wall with a coax cable from box to a splitter, then from the splitter a coax to my tv and router. I eventually will be putting a sonicwall soho in as a firewall, I'll use the parental controls in that once I get it but that wont be for a while. So really all I want is a router with a coax input and a router that will allow me to configure it to my liking, parental controls would be nice too. Could someone please point me in the right direction.
  13. Hey guys, So lately I've been questioning my job title of "Technical Consultant" It was the title when I viewed the advert when i joined, but if i look at other jobs and their roles I see that i preform the tasks of people with extremely different titles. So I'm looking for a definitive answer of what my title is, other than Tech consultant. Some of my roles are; Server builds with vmware, sbs2003>2012, server rebuilds server installs and migrations, a lot of work with active directory, sonicwall configurations and installs, running cable and making network points, switch installations managing cloud backup on 200 nodes, work with sql and terminal servers. laptop repairs (mac, pc and some linux distros), pc install into domains, work with outlook, work with accounting software, disaster recovery for damaged hard drives, work with VM's, desktop support, phone support and remote support These are the main roles, however there are smaller things I do. Could someone give me a rough idea on what my title could also be? Before anyone says " your title is tech consult" I already know that, but im just curious..
  14. I understand its fake, but I can't think of why it wouldn't work, I'm sort of asking to have it explained to me on how the cpu utilizes its cores
  15. Hey guys, So I was shown this video and I had a feeling in my gut that there's something ridiculously stupid about it. Can someone explain to me how this just doesn't make a performance difference. or does it? I highly doubt it doesn't make a difference but I can't put my finger on why it wont.
  16. I'm half tempted to get it over the logitech one purely for the fact it's got the ability to charge by micro usb.
  17. great, have you used the Rii K12 keyboard? that you linked me to earlier? thanks so much for all the help!
  18. I've just got a quick question on raspberry pi. If I got this model Added an sd card? or micro sd.. this wifi adapter and the logitech wireless bluetooth keyboard, would everything work together? Is it just a matter of installing an os on an sd after that?
  19. I'll have a look a everything recommended. Thanks for all the help guys!
  20. Thanks for all the help by the way! you guys are awesome. Although I love the idea of a tablet I've got my heart set on a mini pc, I think it'd look a lot nice also. I've used some of those tablets in work and they were a pain to set up and we're that great to use in my opinion.
  21. said 150usd under the assumption most people here are us based, I said 150gbp to you since I realised I'd have to increase the price to get something decent So I'll make an overall price; 150 euro; 110 gpb; 170usd
  22. the only beelink pocket p2 i found was from some guy selling second hand from italy, the other beelink is a dongle type device which I've heard bad things about.
  23. Unfortunately I cant find the beelink on amazon, so i guess its between the minix, raspberry 2 b+ unless you can suggest anything else? If I get one of the devices cant I just put an embedded os on it os it's lightweight?
  24. the budget is is around 150ish gbp I've never heard of the make either, I can't seem to get the beelink on amazon. I'll have a look at the tablet now, thanks
  25. so for example; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-Model-Desktop-Quad-Linux/dp/B00T2U7R7I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433412388&sr=8-1&keywords=raspberry+pi+2+b%2B Watching movies, youtube, email, other light use, would this suffice? Can I use a mico usb and plug it into my tv? or will this be an insufficient power source
