  1. I believe you haha! I'll probably make an update build post in a week or two, closer to January when I get my scholarships/grants. Thank you again for the help.
  2. Thank you. I'll bring this up with my wife again tonight. Funnily enough the monitor you linked is one of the ones I have on a price-watch list, since it's very nice.
  3. We both prefer 21:9 and she's a bit of an ultrawidemasterrace person.
  4. Thank you for the advice. Ideally we'd find the cheapest 21:9, >=27-inch, 1080p IPS monitor. I may have been looking in the wrong places for deals thus far, and I'll look for monitors in the $150-200 range like you suggested. If nothing else we'll save money while waiting until monitors she likes go down in price.
  5. Haha, again you're right. But it's a discussion we've more-or-less run into the ground. I'm fine with a monitor, she prefers a monitor, and she's fine putting up some of her own money for us to get one to share.
  6. That's a good point. I've had the Monitor v. TV chat with her a couple of times, but she's staunchly anti-TV in-the-home. Monitors are fine for some reason, and projectors are great, but TV's are a no-go. It doesn't affect me much in the end, and she seems happy with the options in her self-imposed budget.
  7. True! I'm a bit jaded about this since I grew up a bit north of Muskoka and delivery fees were ridiculous for us, so I had tunnel-vision there.
  8. My wife contributed a majority of that money. She's a bit fickle and wants something new, and bigger, to watch her 1080p anime collection. I just added my comments as well, since I'll be using it to game when she's not.
  9. Delivery fees are a fixed amount depending on the region, ranging from $25 for cities (like Waterloo) to $75 for rural (like Muskoka), before subsidies or grants, increasing based on your electricity usage regardless of time-of-use. However the increase in delivery fees dramatically increases as you move north of Barrie. kWh isn't very indicative of electricity pricing in Ontario without those fees being included.
  10. That chart may not be the most applicable: timed fees have dramatically raised electricity costs for anyone using it during peak hours, and delivery fees have increased an average of 200% for people living North of Barrie since 2015 alone. And yup, we had electric heating. Unfortunately, even when kept low the delivery fees were still very high.
  11. Would an R3 1300X fit the bill? Or is the $20 difference between the 1300x and 1400 worthwhile given the aims?
  12. You sure? I used to live in Northern Ontario and with delivery fees + peak usage we'd be looking at over $100/mth. without hot showers.
  13. I've already mentioned in another post that the budgets for the build and the monitor are from separate sources. My max budget is $500 for the build, ideal is closer to $400.
  14. Would the K-core require me to purchase a separate cooler?
