  1. Its been an issue for quite a while. I don't remember it happening for the first couple of months, but old GPU, new GPU doesnt matter. I had a technician look at my computer. Memtest 86, no problem. He stress test the cpu for 12 hrs, nothing. the GPU for 12 hrs, nothing. both CPU and GPU for 5 hrs, nothing. I bring it home, and it happened while i was in google chrome, or gaming. Could this be the issue (saw this in event viewer) The authority "amd-keyid-907d65e9b562315997dd5ad086b2b7598957b92c.microsoftaik.azure.net" does not exist. Should i just completely reinstall Windows? Would that fix this?
  2. I checked in the system logs, there was the event log critical to say that computer shut down unexpected, but there wasn't anything immediate prior to it that raised red flags. Any other ideas?
  3. Yes. I did try that. There was a Youtube short that said that hotkey would restart driver, but it didn't do anything for me when I tried it yesterday/ today. I tried hitting those buttons in various orders including at the same time.
  4. Hi, I recently had a new computer built (like a year ago). It is a 5900x and 7900xtx GPU. Still on Windows 10. I am using a Seasonic 1000 W Titanium rating PSU. I have 2 NVME drive, and 3-4 Sata SSD (1 is old from old computer). I have 3 pull fans in the front, 1 exhaust fan in the back, and one of those tower CPU fans with two fans and 2 fins. I have 3 monitors and speakers. The monitors, speakers, and computer is all plugged into same power strip. Room is quite small, so it does get kinda hot, but cpu and gpu software shows that temp is still in good range. My problem is that sometimes when I am using the computer, no matter what I do, the computer screen will randomly freeze. It could be during an intensive workload like gaming, or a lighter work load like browsing Chrome (though am one of those people with hundreds of tabs open). This issue could happen one time every 2-3 months, or 5 times a day. I don't really know what is triggering it. There would be no warning or flashing of the screen, but the computer mouse would just no longer move, and as the minutes goes by, the time displayed on the computer will no longer be aligned with my phone. If I have music or something in the background, it would seem to continue? The background music of the game I was playing yesterday continued, but the gun fire from the naval game didn't continue after screen froze. I had an old 5700xt GPU in the system first, but it would exhibit same issue. I was in the market for a new GPU and heard that 7000 series was possibly a little more stable (no longer getting the random black screen issues!), but issue persists. I did have several instance where the display driver fail, but it "resolved" itself. I check with AMD Adrenalin software, and my GPU driver was updated to most recent. No resolution. Also, I ensured that CPU and GPU were not overclocked (CPU was overclocked at one point), but no resolution either. What could be the problem?? I tried talking to some Microcenter people, but they said they had no idea, and I asked a more technically savvy friend and he had no idea either?
  5. Hi, I recently bought the LG 32GP750 31.5" 2K QHD (2560 x 1440) 165Hz Gaming Monitor. I plugged in the display to my computer, and I noticed that is quite dim compared to my ASUS PA278QV 27" 2K QHD (2560 x 1440) 75Hz LED Monitor. I checked the settings, and the brightness of the LG monitor is already at 100%. While my Asus monitor is probably too bright now for its position, the LG monitor is extremely dim in comparison. The weird thing is that the ASUS brightness is listed at 350 cd/m2 whereas the LG brightness is listed at 400 cd/m2. Any advice on whether I got a lemon, or there is something I'm missing would be greatly appreciated. I guess, one other random question is do i even need a gaming monitor? Like faster refresh and response time is great, but if i am only playing things like simulator games (cities skylines, planet zoo, etc), Total War games, and WOWs/War thunder, do I really need the faster refresh rate and response time?
  6. Well I'm still waiting for my local microcenter to have inventory... I just want to evaluate all my options and have options on the table should I need to. They only have the 4090s in stock because of the sticker price... But based on your comment, it looks like warranty not being valid won't be a concern in this scenario? and just concern regarding custom and import and shipping?
  7. I wasn't thinking broken in shipping is covered by the warranty. I was inquiring if they would help resolve the issue... like reship one that isn't broken while shipped... or would I be down the money I paid for the item and left holding a broken GPU with no recourse... Because that would be quite a risk.
  8. Hi, If I am considering buying a GPU from overseas, what are the risks? The retailer I'm considering is https://www.overclockers.co.uk/, and from what I can tell, they are a legitimate retailer that work with manufacturers and such? I would be importing from UK to the US via DHL. The reason why I'm thinking about this route is I found a GPU at MSRP that is not in stock in Microcenter, Amazon or New Egg from what I can tell. Or at least not via John Doe rando Tech shop at 300-400 dollars above MSRP. Are there any custom add on cost that I am not aware of? I don't seem to be able to find resources to help calculate that. I presume there would be no warranty should something goes wrong? Or if item gets damaged via shipping, i would be left holding a bag with no resolution options and a broken GPU? BR.,
  9. a 5900x and yea i use DDU in safe mode. I didn't change my driver for a long time. When I had issues, I went and updated the driver. and kept doing that until they said i was on the latest driver. Then when it failed to resolve the issue, i use DDU to reinstall driver. If i were to upgrade my gpu (since the new ones seems vastly better and mine is showing its tooth a bit), what would you advise based on the rest of the post?
  10. uh what other diagnostic should I do besides ensuring my driver is updated and uninstalling and reinstalling while in safe mode? this is a new computer that is less than a year old and i haven't had issues other than this one displaying problem? The gpu is the oldest component in my pc at this movement? I've had other gpu problems with the 5700xt before and I had to rma it so this is refurbished.
  11. Hi, I have a 5700xt gpu and it seems to be having some problems. Computer could be working normally, and then the screen suddenly freezes. I know that the computer isn't frozen because the video or music in the background is still running as normal. It used to happen in demanding games after 4 hours of use but recently I could just be browsing the web and it would freeze... and at increasing frequency which is concerning. I already tried updating driver and reinstalling them. So I'm looking at an upgrade in terms of GPUs. I don't know if it is my luck but i've always seemed to have problems with my powercolor red devil 5700xt gpu. Some people tell me to go for the AMD 6960xt gpus, but all the ones i can find are 3rd party sellers on Amazon or ebay, and that kinda leaves me a bit squimish. Regarding the 7000 series AMD GPUs, based on what I have gleamed from most of the review videos from tech youtubers, people are saying don't buy the 7900xt because 7900xtx is only 100 dollars more but 20% ish better in performance. I've been looking around everywhere for a gpu and I have yet to find any 7900xtx around in my local Microcenter or any online retailers. The ones that are on amazon or other online retailers are sold by 3rd party and scalped for a price $300+ for msrp. I've found some 7900xt AIB board versions that are in sold by Amazon itself and at msrp. Should I pull the trigger? or just wait in hopes that I can find 7900xtx gpus at msrp which seems like it won't be a thing for awhile? Also, what is the difference between Sapphire nitro 7900xt vs the XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XT? My understanding is that both are not using reference card versions, but one is 200 ish dollars cheaper? Edit: I actually found a 7900xtx red devli gpu at my local microcenter. it seems to be around msrp. Should I consider it over the sapphire 7900xt (at similar price) or the vastly cheaper XFX MERC310 7900xt? The red devil reviews on microcenter seems to complain about coil while?
  12. the 3rd picture from the bottom with the ribbon looking thing and keyboard, if you flip the laptop over, the thing on the other side of the ribbon looking thing seemed a little deformed bent-ish. Would that be the top lid/ hinges? The hinge thing seemed fine and it opens and close smoothly. Is that ribbon looking thing exposed a problem? If this is more of an aesthetic problem where it looks worn, I am not too inclined to fix it, but if it will eventually shorten life of laptop, i would try to get it fixed.
  13. Hi, I was using my laptop and accidentally fell asleep with it physically opened but turned off. Next I woke up, I noticed some problem with the laptop where something unintended happened (photos attached): When it is closed, there seem to be some sort of lip between the top and the bottom where you can see a bit of screen poking out. Sometimes when you close the lapotop, it doesn't stay close, and definitely doesn't stay closed when held on its side. The top lid exterior near the hinge area shows a bit of metal indention/ stress marks. and when the laptop is opened, there are 2 ribbon thing that is visible as shown in the red square in one of the photos. The laptop still works when i turn on and such, but those problems kinda concerns me. I took it to microcenter and one of the service tech opened up the bottom (but didn't remove the mobo or batteries) and couldn't think what the problem could be. Would replacing the top lid (where I buy the top lid, but the service tech move the screen over and replace the top lid (the screen lid) fix this issue? I'm hoping to have some sort of direction to give the service tech if there is a fix. I can't be the only idiot to have this issue happened to it.
  14. Considering using LTT store for the backpack, but I'm wondering if LTT store charge your credit card upon order placement? or when they start order fulfillment? Thanks!
  15. I don't believe I overclocked/undervolted CPU... I had a friend help with the build as I didn't have all the tools. How would I go about checking on those things? But from your answer, generally it doesn't seem like something to be concerned about?
  16. So I just started using my new computer yesterday, and I noticed in the HWINFO Sensor status, that the Power Reporting Deviation (Accuracy) had a "problem"? The utility tool said that if it is reporting <90% or >110%, I should be concerned... Mine had a minimum of 81.4% and maximum of 311%... Is that normal? How would I fix this if it is something that needs fixing?
  17. Hi. I am finally using my new computer, but it is quite loud (more fans than what I have in the past, and I'm having trouble adjusting the fan curve to have good cooling but not insanely loud revving. Can you share kind of fan curves are you guys using so that I can have some foundation to go off on?
  18. Sorry to trouble you, but can you explain how that hub work? I am newish to computer building, and I don't really understand how that works for what I am trying to achieve. I see the place where I might put a USB 3.0 cable from the case in, but how does that connect to the Mobo?
  19. Hi. My new case have 4 USB 3.0 ports in the front. This means the case have 2 cables with the USB 3.0 head to connect to the motherboard. My motherboard only have 1 USB 3.0 connection spot on the motherboard. This means I have 2 working ports right now and 2 ports that aren't connected to anything. I still want the other 2 USB 3.0 to work. Would any of these address my problems: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GSQR6D4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3JG90J1GP6HGX&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09GKLN7RT/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A32RAKLFQ1WXCX&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08B1FC769/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A22JOEKCFS25T0&psc=1 Would you recommend any one of these? The review comments don't look all that great in regards to build quality and not meeting USB 3.0 standards (several comments commented on this). Or should I just use something like this to make a 3.0 connection be 2.0 connection (That would mean I have 2 USB 3.0 Ports as USB 3.0 and 2 ports as USB 2.0): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072ZV1566/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A2N4NU72MATLUW&psc=1 If i need more than 2 USB 3.0 ports, I guess I could use my monitor that have 2 usb 3.0 ports as long as i connect them via the rear Motherboard IO?
  20. I see. I don't want to deal with Windows 11 right now and spend a lot of money on DDR5 ( my current build still use DDR3). So intel is out for me this time. Since 5900x is more balanced between gaming and multi task work, I'll take your advice on it over the 5800x3D which is just 5800x with better gaming performance but same (or slightly less) multi task performance..
  21. So I've been planning out and buying components for my CPU build for awhile now, but I have been holding off on the CPU choice. I've been holding out on a CPU choice since I was hoping and waiting to see if we would get a 5900x 3d. Since AMD pretty much confirmed that is a not gonna be a thing, should I go for 5900x or 5800x3d? I am very much aware that the latter chip isn't out yet and without any 3rd party testing, but I want to some insight on the theoretical benefits of the technology and whether I should wait for the 3rd party testing by people like Linus or Jay or other Youtubers, or if the 5800x3d wouldn't meet my criteria and not worth my time waiting around for reviews of it. My use case is multi tasking: I game a lot, but also use excel for things like finance and other tasks. I also use a lot of chrome tabs (been over 20 GB of ram worth before).I also plan on starting some creative projects that would require photoshop and Premiere (or similar apps). I have a bad habit of not closing applications (except games when I'm done with it and want to do something else). In theory, the 5900x with its more cores and threads should be able to handle these multi tasks better right? or does the additional 3d cache tecnology vastly improve the multi task of the 5800x that would make it worth considering for my situation? Even if 5900x is potentially "slightly slower" in gaming, its not like 5900x is a slug, so I don't think it is something to worry about there? I'm also the type of person who builds a PC and want to maximize the good experience even if newer CPU outshines it (only changes i wanna do after the initial build is GPU upgrades or additional SSD). So while I understand the enthusiasts likes to upgrade every couple of years, I'm more likely to hold on to this CPU until the experience ain't that great (for reference, I am using an i7 4790k and was using a R9 280x all the way until 2020, and now use a 5700xt), so "future proofing" as in prolonging the build for 4-5 + yrs is something I value. I understand that future proofing is a myth, but I would rather buy a CPU that will age like fine wine and not be a major bottleneck rather than expired milk that forces me to build a new system because the demand on the system is greater than anticipated. Would the 8 core CPU struggle 4-5 yrs in the future? or is 5900x with its 12 core be kinda overkill in the future even if the design show its age by that point? Thanks for your time!
  22. Do you have a link to one of those PCIe card with appropriate header?
  23. Thanks for your input on the SSD front. With the Mobo, would it be advisable to get a PCI adapter that can connect to both USB 3.0 A ports on the front? or a normal adapter that can make 2 of the ubs 3.0 USB 2.0? Just looking at what my options are.
  24. Hi, I've been buying parts over the last several weeks, but I'm stuck on choosing some components for the builds: Regarding Storage: I plan on having a NVME drive for boot drive, maybe another NVME drive for faster storage needs, a bigger SSD for games and stuff. I'm stuck on what to get for the additional "storage" drive for documents, photos and videos that I'm not editing, etc. Would you recommend a "lesser" quality SSD like Samsung QVO SSD where they use comparatively worse QLC? or should I go for something like a 4 TB HDD (only one I found at 7200 speed at Microcenter was a Toshiba HDD)? I understand QLC SSD are slower, and don't last as long as TLC SSD, but are there any other "problems/ disadvantages" that would make me go for a Toshiba HDD? Regarding CPU: I know one shouldn't wait on product rumors that might or might not happen, but with things as expensive as it is, I'm not in a massive hurry to buy things (since my current computer technically still works). Since I don't plan on upgrading the CPU on this build (next time I'll upgrade will be pretty much a new system again as I intend to use this CPU for 5-6 yrs), should I just go for the 5900x? or wait for the rumor 5900x with the 3d cache? Since I'll be doing more content creation, along with gaming, I want to maximize the performance to a reasonable extent. Regarding Mobo: For context, I have a Phantek Enthoo Pro 2 which have 4 USB A 3.0 (2 Case have 2 cables) and 1 USB-C Gen 2. Would the Rog strix x570-e gaming be able to accommodate that? or would I have to go for something like Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero to be able to use the 4 USB A 3.0 and 1 USB C Gen 2? I'm looking at Asus because I've had better experience with them in the past. Your perspective would be greatly appreciated.
  25. I understand the CL spec to some rudimentary degree. What about rest of the timing? 16-19-19-39 vs 16-16-16-36?
