  1. That's all good. I know that I fucked up pretty bad. What I didn't like was you telling me that my card was behaving normally. Sorry if I came out a little rude but I know for certain that something is wrong.
  2. I realise that I'm a bit of an idiot but I'm not as stupid as your making me out to be. One single fan out of the three on the top card runs at a higher speed than the other two on the same card. This is not reflective of the speed shown in trixx and it has been spinning up even while idling. The difference in speed in very noticeable and it seems to be spinning at 100% compared to the 30% that the other 5 fans spin at. This also didn't happen for the first 6 months or so that I gave been using this computer for.
  3. Also what would be the best way to go about flashing the bios from the other card?
  4. This guide got me to make a backup under original.bin I tried following a guide to flash it back onto the card but it's not working now either. It warned me that the ssid was different. As for the fans it is only one single fan on the top card and it would spin up even while idling. All the other fans would stay at the same rpm that they have for the past 6 months or so. I'm thinking the fan might be a hardware thing though because it's stopped for now.
  5. Wasn't sure whether this should be in graphics cards or trouble shooting, sorry if I'm wrong. One of the fans on one of my r9 290 Tri Xs has been running and higher speeds than all the rest recently so I thought that i would try updating the bios on them to see if that would fix it. However then I started getting bsod and now I cant launch games. When I try opening up catalyst control centre it says "AMD catalyst control centre cannot be started, there are no settings which can currently be configured with catalyst control centre" or something along those lines. Also when i look at the card that I flashed in gpu z, I'm told that it has around 1.2 petabytes of GDDR5 memory which I'm pretty sure is wrong. my other card that I did not flash is giving normal readings. I can still run windows through the card that I flashed and I'm still seeing a normal picture. To the bios I used a bios file that I found on Sapphire's website along with a very brief guide in the form of a power point. It looks like I used atiflash and while following the guide I made a backup of the original bios as original.bin. Could someone please let me know how I would go about reverting the bios on my card to the backup that I made. Sorry about the wall of words but help would be much appreciated.
  6. 144 hz should do you good then aha
  7. Although can I ask what kind of games are you thinking on playing? Because when I play games such as AC and other similar adventure type games I regret buying the 144 hz 24 inch monitor. But if you plan of playing more BF3/4 or CSGO they are amazing.
  8. I have r9 290s in crossfire and I struggle sometimes on my 144hz BenQ (I have a feeling I might need to overclock my CPU though). If you can afford the 980 you may as well get it otherwise you could always buy one 970 now and then another in a few months for SLI if you are not completely happy with the performance
  9. keep the 250 gb ssd. When you run out it gets really annoying. Also the OP is getting a 144hz monitor therefore he has reason to get something more beefy than a 970. But yeah you could probably get an i5 and you wouldn't notice much of a hit. If you are thinking of possibly going SLI in the future then it might be a good idea to keep that power supply, its a pretty good price anyway.
  10. If you drag it like you normally would while holding control I think it should reverse the action (e.g. Forces move instead of copy or vice versa) if it's not control it could be option
  11. I'm probably gonna get another in a few weeks to use as a mumble server (kinda like ts) apparently they work quite well for it
  12. more than fine aha. That would probably work quite well. You might want to add another rad to the mix as well though...
  13. Depends on whether you want the pc to be quiet and cool or you want to pocket the extra $200. Performance should be pretty similar otherwise. Another possibility is to put $100 out of that $200 into a kraken g10/cheap aio. That would probably get you the best performance for $100 less than the 970

    crossfire 270x

Probably should've started a new topic for that. Catalyst control Center will take care of everything
  15. If you want offsite backup you could just get him to save his documents to a Dropbox folder? That way he also has access to them if he's out and about.

    AMD GVR

Oops aha. Wasnt quite sure how YouTube handled stuff like that and whether to use private or unlisted. All fixed now I think. Anyway I can't actually get it to work any more now to retest it

    AMD GVR

Got it working a week or two ago but the overlay stopped working for me a few days later. For some reason it didn't want to record at 60 fps though. Even though I'd selected 60 fps 50 MB/s or whatever the max was, the file that it saved was a solid 30 fps @ 25MB/s. Feel like it needs some improvements (audio splitting would be nice). Hadn't played ACII for years so tested it out with that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWK8XRBLSIo
  18. Havent bought from them but as long as its under $1000 and for personal use, Australian customs wont ask for anything
  19. could be the power supply. When you get the replacement it might start working (hopefully). As for where in the bios, if it is a bios option it would most likely be in or around the CPU section. Probably best the check the motherboard manual though to make sure that what you're looking for actually does exist
  20. Also a 250gb ssd will benefit you more in the future
  21. I would like to try out some other ROMs to see if I prefer them but I can't really justify it right now as my problems with Sense 6 aren't really that significant
  22. Also it having a metal body means that if it does heat up a bit for any reason, just putting it on a table or something will draw the heat away fairly quickly
  23. Ill agree that the camera isn't the best thing ever but I haven't had any problems with heat, especially compared to other phones that I have used in the past. Also the HTC sense is more a personal thing that I don't really mind too much.
