  1. So I recently built my PC in the Montech 903 max. It comes pre installed with an RGB/fan hub. Unfortunately, my RGB is not working as I can't control the color of my fans with the LED button on the top of my case. The "LED SW" is plugged into the hub by default so I suppose that is where it is supposed to be connected (pictured, ignore cable management lol). I also tried installing the connector to the pins right next to the "Power SW" on my motherboard, but that did not solve the issue either. I have contacted Montech about this, but I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas or had a similar issue. Thanks!
  2. Thanks for the reply! Is there typically a way to turn it off, it kind of clashes with the aesthetic I'm going for.
  3. So I just transferred my PC components to a new case and with a new aio liquid cooler. (Yay!) It's got RGB fans and everything, but there's one thing that still sticks out to me. There's this breathing orange light on my asus prime z270-p motherboard. It's been like this for years in my old case, but I was wondering what it signifies and how I can turn it off. I checked my motherboard manual and can't find anything that mentions it. One thing to note is that it stays breathing when the PC is off and only shuts down when either unplugged from the wall or the power switch is flipped on the power supply.
  4. You're just wrong. The black edition is literally almost the same performance as the Evo. It's just black with the same 4 heat pipe design. Should I mention it's the rgb editon too cause clearly that means it's temps will drop by 600%. Yes it runs hot at stock voltage as already described. Don't comment on a thread if you have no useful information to share. Don't waste people's time just to act like you're smart.
  5. I've reapplied thermal paste and reinstalled it numerous times. Also I have 4 case (2 140s, 2 120s) fans. In the bios I even adjusted the fan curves to be really agressive. My i7-6700k just runs very hot . Its probably why the guy was selling it on eBay. Getting the Scythe Fuma 2
  6. I realize wifi is not optimal, but I don't have a choice without making major adjustments to my setup. Yes I am using a dual-band router and it's decently close to my room just separated by my bed room door around the corner and my router is the medialink ac 1200. The router is isolated being on a table clear of clutter. Also I have optimized my router settings by connecting important close range devices to 5G, high transmit power, and looking at graphs to limit interference, custom DNS, etc. Yes I have a desktop PC with an extra pcie slot. (Asus prime Z270-p)
  7. Hey there, Around a year or two ago I bought a used i7-6700k on eBay. At first it seemed fine, but as I used it more I noticed it's idle temps were higher than normal which made it difficult to overclock over 4.4-4.5 Ghz. Also, in Battlefield 5, when running with an uncapped framerate, my CPU temps always reach in the mid to high 90s. My cooler is the cooler master hyper 212 Black edition and it is not delivering for my CPU for overclocking and high intensive cpu applications. What would be a good replacement air cooler that's not overly expensive, but needs to perform significantly better than the hyper 212? I would love to see if I could hit 4.6-4.7 Ghz on my CPU and run at uncapped framerates in battlefield.
  8. Hello, I've recently had to move back home from college due to COVID-19 and as a result, have not been able to connect my gaming PC to the internet via Ethernet due to the way our internet is setup (not running wires all around the house). So, to access the internet on my PC I've been using a USB wifi adapter by Net-dyn ( the AC1200). It's been ok for the most part, but it sometimes frequently disconnects or does other weird things. So I was thinking about getting a pcie wifi card to help remedy my issues to get a more stable, worry-free connection at home. What are your recommendations for cards with the best value for gaming?
  9. Hey there, I am in need of a new device to connect wirelessly to my main router/modem for my new internet. This is due to my PC being in a separate room to my router and the fact that my PC has no wifi built in (I have no pcie slot for a wifi card) In my limited research I have come to the conclusion that I need a wireless access point to plug in via Ethernet to my PC. My question is: A.) Is this the best choice for my situation? B.) If anyone can provide any recommendations on access points around $60 or lower and able to sit on a desk, I would appreciate it. Thanks for all your help.

  11. After I upgraded my cpu the max XMP profile was 2133.
  12. Hey there, I recently just picked up a used i7 6700k for around $250 to put in my system with 16gb of 2133 mhz ram and a Gtx 1060 3gb which has been over clocked by using msi afterburner if that is relevant. My question is if it is worth it for me to replace my ram to another 16gb kit of say 3200 mhz or so. I have seen some benchmarks recently that indicate that faster ram is starting to become valuable in gaming. (I mostly use my computer for games). Also, I am not overclocking my cpu as I have a motherboard of the b250 flavor. Is it worth it for me to pick up the faster ram? Or are the gains seen in gaming low enough for it to be a waste of time to sell my old kit and pick up the faster memory? Thanks for all your input.
  13. Lol I just loosened the new heat sink and both cpus work now. However my keyboard, mouse, and display do not connect.
