It seems to be a clear attempt to incentivize those not opening their wallets to do so. Most big streamers couldn't keep up with full chat speed anyway so they only really interact with subscriber chat. So it's not a surprise they wouldn't bother using the new feature since it would just lower donation numbers more than it would raise subscriber counts. Also it seems that even though some developers and publishers ToS disallow requiring viewers to pay, some have specific allowances for video streaming platforms such as YouTube and Twitch. Personally I will be interest to see how developers, and publishers respond to this, and whether, or not using this feature will have a negative impact on subscriber growth to channels. Also it's probably something for Like and the Floatplane team to keep in mind once the platform. It fully launched, and available to any content creator.
