  1. i did try bios updates on the GPU and nothing changes i recently found out the 780 is not certified for windows 10 and i doubt that is the problem fundamentally does anyone know about how to go about this`? also considered theres a 1080 installed alongside
  2. yeah i will try that next! could it also be that the issue is that the 780 is a Superclocked version by EVGA? maybe BIOS incompatibility?
  3. yep it is, and the 1080 is in pcie1
  4. yeah i also did that as last resort and it changed nothing edit: which anyway on the mobo booklet its sad it should only be necessary when using 4gpus
  5. although originally it was windows7 which i have since updated... if that makes a difference! I could actually also try to install windows 7, ive always liked it better anyway...
  6. ive never had 1080 and 780 together on another machine, had a 780 and a 275... that may be worth trying to see if its a motherboard issue actually... it is the same windows btw (10 64)
  7. i noticed the 4pin power connector for the mobo was out so ive fixed that, but it didnt change the problem. formatted and reinstalled everything but the issue remains:/
  8. Im having a look at the bios right now but theres nothing that seems helpful...the only settings related to PCIE are in the advanced \ AMD PBS panel (dont ask me what it is) and they are: PCIe x16 Switch Promontory PCIe Switch PCIE4 1*16/4*4 switch
  9. driver 388.0 installed and the situation is the same... error message has gone back to code 43
  10. So i tried going offline and removing all drivers with DDU. The following screenshot shows the two devices, one shows problems, but im not sure which one is which. I assume the troubled one is the 780 but who knows! Im now installing the 388.0 and ill let you know how it goes shortly!
  11. are you saying : remove the drivers and see if theres a code43? havent tried that
  12. I was speaking in a 780 only scenario. It works fine solo on another machine but not on the threadripper. Im trying to use the most recent Nvidia driver, which is suggested for both cards! With it both card show up but only the 1080 works properly, the other one sits there with the yellow triangle like a vegetable
  13. i thought i might had ruined the GPU while cleaning it but i tried it on another system and it works perfectly.. so far i believe the culprit has to be something with the drivers. Most of the mess happens when windows tries to install the nvidia drivers on his own will....
  14. it is possible, ive done it at my previous workplace multiple times.. blender or whatever renderer you using detects the gpu and takes it on board as calculus power.. but yeah, not for gaming puposes yeah ive swapped the cards back and forth multiple times... apparently nothing wrong with either the slots or the cards themselves. I also tried the 780 in a 8pin PCIE instead of a 16one because god knows what might be the issue and it was all the same
  15. I've put together a new PC for 3d modelling, rendering and illustration Its a threadripper 1950 with x399Taichi, and a 1080Ti. I also wanted to add a 780SC i have around so that CUDA based rendering will be almost twice as fast! The cards work fine on their own on different systems, but as soon as i put them together in the threadripper, the 780 displays the yellow triangle in the device manager and gives Code 43 If i decide to uninstall the card and reboot nothing changes. He eventually finds the drivers installs them (they are the same for the 1080 anyway) and nothing changes. If i decide to screen output through the 780, as soon as the nvidia drivers are installed the screen goes black. Its so bad that if windows is loading, it freezes! i have started doubting that it is a freeze, and just a screenfreeze or the gpu failing somehow. Also had to do a couple of rollbacks to repair damage... basically the 780 is detected but its a zombie dummy sitting by. Has anyone encountered this?
