  1. Its gonna be hard to tell until there's more Benchmarks. There's gonna be keplar and maxwell 800m chips so thats gonna be a factor. GPU Boss Shows the 870m with a gk104 Kepler core so its probably a re branded 780m. GTX 760 - 770 also use a gk104 variant. The 860m has a gm107 which is what the gtx 750 and 750Ti use so you can maybe get a rough estimate off of that. If I had to guess I would think the 860m might preform like a GTX750 and the 870m would preform like a GTX760 but Like I said you wont know until more info comes out.
  2. honestly I would look for atleast a dx11 card. gts450s or gtx460s Should be cheap on ebay.
  3. On my Laptop while gaming CPU: 85 Max Gpu: 78 Max Probably gonna put new Thermal compound since its using factory stuff. I've just been working up the courage to void my warranty.
  4. its gonna be hard to find one under 3.5 Pounds with a dedicated gpu. Closest to what you want I think might be the Razer Blade 14". Last years is 4.1 Pounds and the new model 4.5. edit: new model has ips high res display and old one has 1600x900 tn.
  5. for Gaming on a budget I would get the cheapest price/performance cpu I could find and spend as much on a gpu as I could. Something like a AMD 760k and whatever I have left on a gpu. Posting what you have so far would help.
  6. Guys cut him some slack. Hes just asking for help. @OP I would find an overclock I like and then run some stress tests. if they pass then play a demanding game for a few hours and see if its stable. Also make sure Temperatures arent too hot. I wouldnt want to go ast the 70s on a modern gpu. If your game doesn't crash and your card doesn't throttle then you are good to go. If it does crash then lower the cpu core little by little (I would say 10Mhz at a time) and lower Memory a bit too. It takes time to find a good stable spot and not all cards overclock the same.
  7. This. Go into Bios and enable XMP Profile to run at rated speeds.
  8. what we can gather from the screenshot is that its DDR3 1333 Mhz CL9 (9-9-10-24) timings. Idk why it only shows 1.5GB. CPUz shows all my ram even if less is actually available.
  9. True. Guess we will just have to wait and see. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
  10. I dont think DX12 will come out with windows 9 or why would they announce it now? It will probably be a in a Windows 8.2 update or something but, like DirectX 11.2, Im willing to bet you're gonna need the newest version of windows. I just hope we dont need new graphic cards to utilize DX12. Probably wishful thinking though. (crosses fingers)
  11. I was able to get a 650 Ti boost 2GB for 125$ on sale (lucky) So I would look around for one. If not you can TRY to find a 750 Ti for under 150. I wouldnt want less than 2GB of vram though. The performance between the 2 is similar but the 750 Ti is very low power. The 650 Ti Boost can SLI though.
  12. I see. I'm sorry. I just read the compatibility list and how says TBD.
  13. you should be fine with newer cards. Some higher end cards like a 770 will probably be held back a bit by the i5 750 but if you get a good cpu overclock then you should be fine. Even with cpu bottleneck you will still see improvements. first gen i5/i7 are still capable chips!
  14. That error 41 is because it rebooted without shutting down properly. Might be power related. Are you overclocking your cpu at all? I had that problem when I overlocked my cpu. It was fine normally but when I stressed it while gaming, my pc crashed. Had to raise voltage a little to stabilize.
  15. I use a cx750m and it works perfectly fine with my 4770k. Go for it OP
  16. The Glass is really reflective yes. Good for dark rooms but if there's a window constantly open behind you then I cant recommend it.
  17. I used g.Skill Snipers 1866 with my Hero board Since they were on sale but the Corsair Vengeance Pro series look nice.
  18. Your fx 4300 might be holding back your cards a little but not by alot. Overclocking will help. just check temps and voltages. It also depends on what program/game you use/play. Some things are better SLI optimized than others.
  19. Wont know until you try. Not all Ram is created equal. Unless the company says so, ram isnt guaranteed to run at higher speeds. With that said, if you pump it with enough voltage and dont go overboard then its certainly possible just dont get mad if it cant overclock well.
  20. I have this Monitor and love it but its highly reflective since the the display is glass. Its only 1080p at 27" but Honestly it still looks very crisp and clear. Probably since its not a t/n with matte finish. I feel like matte t/n panels tend to look blurry compared to glossy screens. After getting an IPS monitor I don't think I ever want to go back to t/n. at 250$ its a good deal IMO and to get a 1440p 27" with quality as good as this monitor, it would cost double the price.
  21. I believe anything above 1600 is considered "Overclocking" but the ram is rated to run at that speed and the motherboard should support it. It will run just fine with xmp profiles on. No warranty is voided and no negative effects should occur.
  22. dont set your ram voltage/timing/frequency manually unless you know what you are doing. Bios automatically sets ram to lower speeds. To run it at rated speed you need to enable the XMP profile in bios. That should load up the rated speeds and voltage for the ram. Edit: if you're still having problems try updating your motherboards bios. Theres also a chance that one of your sticks is bad too so I would run a memory checker.
  23. My laptop cpu reaches 85c and gpu 78c max while gaming. Laptops just run hot unless they have some good cooling (most dont). Your temps are fine. If they start going 90c and above then I would start to worry. If your worried about your temps then you can also do a few things. USe a fan control app, re paste your cpu, or try undervolting. Just make sure you carefully read guides and take it slowly if you're new to that kind of stuff.
  24. I think Linus meant cross generation specs cant be compared. Specs do matter!
