  1. Thanks for the feedback guys. The culprit was PSU. After changing for the new Problem disappeared. 4 days since the change and all is working good.
  2. Even though it looks I'm talking to my self, I will keep updating the post So got a GTX1080 from a friend and did some tests, same problem after playing for some 20-30 minutes computer crashes to black screen and I have to switch on/off the power supply in order the restart the PC ( yes, prior to run the tests I proceeded to use DDU to remove the AMD drivers Twice) After reinstalling my GPU I proceeded to remove the CPU cooler, paste didn't seem degraded. Cleaned both heat sink and CPU lid with Isopropil alcohol and a microfiber cloth, placed some Noctua nt-h1 Thermal pase and spread it evenly before installing back the cooler and fully tighten the screws. Room temperature is around 26degC, Idle Temperature with standard fan curve was 47degC, idle with fan at full speed was 37-38degC, performed a test with OCCT for 30min with constant load and temperature raised to 75-76degC. When testing games still have same problem : "after playing for some 20-30 minutes computer crashes to black screen and I have to switch on/off the power supply in order the restart the PC". Once again out of Ideas, my next step will be to test with a different PSU, I have now ordered: PSU: Corsair Rmx Series RM850X V2 850W CASE: Phanteks Eclipse P500 Air Black Edition I was planning to do some staggered updates anyways, so I will not too bother if this doesn't fix the problem. If PSU is not the problem then I'm left with CPU, RAM or MB.
  3. I have completed some new troubleshooting: Perfomed OCCT Stress test with defaults parameters for 1hr. no Problem Furmark GPU stress test : 2560x1440, anti-aliasing 2x MSAA for 1 hr, no problem OCCT+ Furmark running on parallel, PC crashed after ~20min Repeated OCCT+Furmark running on parallel, PC crashed after ~40 min Then did test with games: Rainbow six siege, crashed almost after starting it Rainbow six siege again, crashed a couple of minutes into the game War thunder, crashed 10-15 min into the game used HWiNFO to log data while performing all the test, have uploaded the excel files and some charts HDD problems are out of question, as per data on HWiNFO they were not loaded on when crash happened during stress test. Reviewing voltages, freq, power couldn't pinpoint to any problem. Power and Temperature wise: CPU idle ~48C, 100% during stress test ~80C CPU power 65W GPU idle ~46C, 100% during stress test ~ GPU80C, Junction temp 104C (HWiNFO) or 95C (adrenaline), SOC 67C, VDDC 80C, How Spot 95C GPU Power 190W If I use the PC for non demanding task ( like doing all the excel graphs, web browsing, or using on1PhotoRaw for photo editing) it works ok. So what to do next? how to identify what component is defective? what do you think is the most likely culprit: GPU ? RAM? MB? CPU? PSU? Thinking on starting by buying a new power supply, would be the least expensive item. Advice? 4. I built my Desktop PC 1.5 years ago: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT ASUS TUF Edition 16GB Kit (8GB x2) SSD: Crucial P1 500GB NVME PCIe GPU: ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6 HDD: Seagate 2 TB (Second hand purchase) MB: ASUS Prime X570-P PSU: Cool master MWE GOLD 650 Case: White Cool Master Mid-Tower ( don't know the model got it second hand) OS: Windows 10PRO (May 2021 Update) Monitor: Samsung 32" UJ32590UQE A couple of weeks ago my son starting to complain that the computer would crash while playing "rainbow six siege" or "War Thunder", so troubleshooting started. The symptoms are: Screen goes black "ON" led in the case remains on Fans for GPU and CPU are off (not spinning) If I keep the "ON" button pressed it will not shutdown nor reset, same the reset button is unresponsive it happens randomly while playing games ( Rainbow six siege, war thunder and Mechwarrior Mercenaries 5, Age of empires 4) So Troubleshooting started: Spot checked temps CPU and GPU ( not much higher than 60degC the couple times I checked Cleaned dust from motherboard, GPU, CPU FAN and cooler( with compressed air), reseated RAM and GPU. Problem continued, next steps: used DDU to remove GPU drivers ( had Adrenalin 21.11.1 which was the latest) Installed Adrenalin 21.11.1 only driver Problem continued, next steps: Performed Fresh install Windows 10 21H2 Installed all latest drivers ( AMD Ryzen, MB drivers, ASUS armoury crate) Installed Adrenalin 21.8.2 WHQL (Full) Fresh install of all games Problem continued, next steps: Removed XMP profile . Problem continued, next steps: Updated BIOS to version 4021 from 1404 Problem continues and I'm out of ideas of what before starting to swap parts, and would be complicated as I Don't have any other Desktop at home. I have attached some images from the Event viewer. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks Event log.txt
  5. Thanks, I agree with those parts would be a better system, I have a question would the inclusion of the M.2 SSD make a great difference in performance compared to reusing the Sandisk SSD I have with the current system?
  6. Hi I'm writing From Bolivia in South america, my upgrade budged is between 700$USD to 900$USD, It will be hard for anyone to give an opinion on prices and/or part availability down here, but looking looking on advice to what hardware line would suit best. Current Rig: MB: Supermicro X7DA8 CPUs:Two Xeon 3.2GHz GPU: Nvidia Quadro FX350 RAM: Komputerbay 8GB (4x 2GB) DDR2 PC2-5300F 667MHz CL5 ECC Fully Buffered 2Rx4 FB-DIMM SSD: Sandisk Extrem II 240GB (OS drive) HDD: WD Blue 1 TB SATAIII 7200RPM and WD Black 2TB SATAIII 7200RPM Case: Rosewill Gaming ATX Full Tower Computer Case THOR V2 Black. Monitor: Samsung 22" Sound card: SoundBlaster Audigy PowerSupply: 600Watts OS: Windows 10 Current Use: PLEX video server: library 2TB of movies and music streaming at 1 device at a time ( transcoding on the fly as library is mainly 720P or 1080P MKV,AVI,XVID files and watching devices are AppleTV, IPAD and WebOS LG TV). Ocasional Transcoding or edition of Video Virtualization: use VMWare to virtualize and try other OS or need to use previous OS (Windows7,Windows XP) for old programs. why the upgrade? Machine feels extremely slow when Im on the virtual machine even when there is no load on the desktop itself, low as I type something and it will take seconds for each letter to appear. VMWare configuration is 3GB RAM, 1 Processor, 100GB HDD. I have the machine since December 2013. Also when I attemp more than one connection for streaming the performance suffers Aim: Ocasionally play games (FPS, Adventure, etc like: Ghost recon wildlands, Tomb Raider, etc). At decent settings Be able to have at least a virtual machine running (load on the Virtual machine would be minimum just downloading data) while the PLex server is workign with 2 connections(load transcoding on the fly - movies are 720p). Later on change my monitor for a 4k Curved 24". Wifi capability as there is no wired connection to were the computer will sit. I have to options for the upgrade: 1. Buy a new system, I was thinking on a RYZEN setup, went the other day to a shop and got a quote: MB: MSI B350 Gaming Plus CPU:Ryzen 5 1400 GPU: Asus Nvidia GTX 1050ti 4GB RAM: 16GB DDR4 2100 Kingston (8GBx2) total: 813$USD 2. Buy a system that is about to be phased out for 1/8 of the quoted new system listed above: MB:Supermicro X7DCA-3 CPU: XEON QUadCore 2.33GHZ 1333FSB, 2x6M GPU:Nvidia QUADRO FX370 RAM: 8GB DDR2 667MHZ What are your recommendations: Buying the used system and adding a GPU card would help to achive my goal? Would a Ryzen5 1400 be enough for the performance I want? maybe going for a 1600 or even a Ryzen 7 be of any benefit? or would a intel setup be better suited? What Wifi adapter is best? PCI, or USB? currently I have a USB dongle for 2.4GHZ. thanks and regards ROlando
