  1. SOC voltage was already set to 1.1 (I assume through the DOCP profile), so I've already tried those settings with my old kit. I'm trying 2933 1.37v on the new kit right now. I'll also try DOCP on whatever the default SOC voltage is later
  2. Yep, they're in slots 2 and 4. Do you want me to try that speed and the voltages with my new kit, old kit, or either?
  3. Hey, I've been experiencing pretty frequent freezing over the last couple weeks and the only possible cause I can think of is maybe updating my BIOS. It got to the point where I'd get a freeze every 20-30 mins while gaming which was unplayable as I'd get kicked from the match. The freezes last around 10 seconds probably. The freezes occur across all programs but only if it's trying to load something new (i.e. I could scroll up and down a loaded tab but not open a new one until after the freeze). I ran some memory tests and they gave out errors. I reset my BIOS settings which "fixed" it but I obviously lose performance at stock speed (2133mhz) and timings. With stock settings my RAM passed all memory tests. I then tried DOCP settings and got an error every pass. I lowered the voltage and I'd get multiple errors every pass. I lowered the speed to 2933 (from 3000) and increased the voltage to 1.37. It passed memtest86 twice so I assumed it was stable and there'd be no noticeable change in performance. But I still got freezes. A lot less common (probably about twice a day), but still frequent enough for me to uncomfortable with playing competitive matches. I figured it was the RAM and ordered a similar set off of Amazon. This set still has the same issue but is still more stable than my old set. It's currently running at DOCP (3000mhz 15cl 1.35v) and I get a freeze or two every day. After I installed my new RAM, my motherboard's RGB glowed red when my PC was shut off. I have the setting off in my BIOS so I assume it's some sort of error. I have around 3 weeks left on my motherboard's warranty so I'd greatly appreciate a quick diagnosis. Thanks
  4. So it's most likely the motherboard? Asus seems really strict on their warranty so I think I'll have to buy a new one It seems to be something on the top right (near the ram slots) that's cracked or shorted but I don't see any visual damage anywhere
  5. I took it all out of the case and it boots only when in a certain position on the cardboard box. Whether this means it's shorting, or something's cracked idk. I've tried all ports and 2 cables but my peripherals don't get power anyway so it's not just the port/display. When it boots, the orange led next to the CPU either flashes off and on every second, or stays solid orange (seems to be random each time I boot it and changing ram sticks/slots doesn't affect it) This would indicate a problem with the motherboard right? I've tried requesting an rma but asus seems really strict on their warranty and the UK website is useless so I'm not sure if that's an option. Edit: it also seems to be something near the ram slots that's shorted or cracked but there's no visual damage so I'm not sure. When I lift up the top right corner, it boots (but still no output) and then when I let go, it shuts off Edit 2: the same thing happens when I pull my gpu (like with normal gpu sag) but the ram doesn't light up. Nothing special when I lift both things at the same time Edit 3: in a different certain position, my ram has a slight orange tint, the light next to the cpu stays off and there's a continuous beep/squeak that doesn't stop
  6. I've been trying to fix my PC all day. At first it booted but no output, then it didn't boot and now I've found out that it boots without output only when shorted/in a certain position. I currently have it on a cardboard box. If I move it, it shuts down and won't turn on at all but in this specific position it automatically turns on. Once turned on, there's no output and the LED by the CPU will either flash every second or stay solid orange. I can't find anything in the manual about what these mean so what's up with my PC? My PSU fan is spinning, gpu rgb on, ram rgb on, and cpu cooler spinning. I've reset cmos and reseating ram doesn't change anything. I've tried different gpu ports and cables and my peripherals don't get powered
  7. I meant rma the motherboard. I can't swap parts out because this is my only pc
  8. I can jump start my psu and the fan spins but my PC doesn't boot. I've tried reseating my cpu, gpu, ram and psu cables but still no boot or sign of even attempting to boot. Is there anything else I have to try or can I make a warranty claim?
  9. You can check my last post for the full story but now my PC doesn't boot at all. Jumping the power pins and pressing the power button does nothing. I've tried reseating my ram, gpu and cpu but nothing worked. Everything is definitely plugged in and my gpu and mobo both have their idle leds on. I can't afford to buy another psu/cpu/motherboard only to find out it didn't fix my PC. What can I do?
  10. I literally have no idea what to do now. I can't buy a new psu, cpu whatever just to test what's broken but I have to fix it somehow
  11. Took off my cpu, sprayed some compressed air into the socket and now it doesn't boot at all. Power button does nothing and so does shorting the power pins
  12. I can take off my cpu and check, but it looked fine earlier
  13. There was no visible damage so I have no idea if the cpu is the problem
  14. I've tried all gpu ports and 2 different cables but still no output. I took my cpu cooler out to clean it but my cpu came off with it (thermal paste was pre-applied so it's not my fault if there was too much). I tried a few things to separate them but eventually, a flathead screwdriver was what separated it; there was no bending or scratching done to the pins. As I was putting the CPU back, I didn't get the placement perfect instantly so there's probably some minor scratching but that shouldn't break it right? I put my PC back together, it booted but no output so I left it for about an hour in case I got some water on something while wiping dust off. Booted it but still had the same issue. I tried removing the cmos battery, trying a different pcie lane, reseating ram, but there's nothing to indicate that there's anything wrong with my PC other than the ram rgb not lighting up (mb light is a solid orange so nothing interesting there). After a few boot attempts, I saw that one of my sticks finally lit up and realised that I hadn't properly clicked them into place. They're now properly clicked into place but aren't lighting up anymore. What can I do to try fix it? Do I have to wait longer for any water from wiping to evaporate? also, my power button doesn't turn the PC off, even when held for several seconds my peripherals don't get power but my Ethernet cable lights up Edit: I tried only having 1 ram stick and it seems like some of the slots don't work because my rgb now lights up. Still no output though
  15. Edit: Pressed enter too many times. I just spotted this monitor on Amazon and £320 for this is very cheap. Is there something I'm missing or is this a bargain? https://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-AG241QX-24-Inch-Monitor-Response/dp/B01LT04C30/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526326551&sr=8-1&keywords=1440p+144hz&dpID=51Quhtt0Y9L&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch 2nd edit: And this too! Holy $#!+ when did monitors get this cheap? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01KZIOSSQ/ref=psdc_428652031_t2_B01LT04C30?th=1
