  1. I've recently built a new computer in the NZXT H510, and I'm seeing some high CPU temperatures and wondering what I should do. Relevant PC Components: CPU: R5 7600 GPU: Asus Dual RX 6750XT Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming B650M-PLUS WIFI CPU cooler: AMD stock (Wraith Stealth) Fans: 2x NZXT stock, in rear and top as exhaust Case: NZXT H510 PSU: Seasonic 750W (fan facing downward) I've been playing some kitchen sink modded Minecraft (quite CPU-intensive) and seeing some CPU temperatures in the mid-90°C range when CPU utilisation was getting up in the 80-90% range. Has anyone got any suggestions for how I can improve it? I'm thinking that I might need some more airflow through the case (I'm only realising now that the H510 isn't great for that). Would I also need a better CPU cooler? Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. Budget (including currency): ~$2100 AUD Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Civ VI, Minecraft (hopefully including large kitchen sink modpacks), occasional video editing, potentially Microsoft Flight Simulator (probably a bit into the future) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): - Already have a monitor (Gigabyte M27Q - 1440p 170Hz), and another 1080p one I'll use as a second monitor - Have a 2TB 2.5" SSD for game drive/other storage - I've got a Logitech M590 mouse (and love it!) - Upgrading from a Dell Inspiron 15 7570 (i7-8550U, 16GB RAM, GeForce 940MX), so this'll make a huge difference Current PCPartPicker list is https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/p2FwbK I'd love some feedback/help with: 1. Graphics card choice -> I haven't been keeping up with GPUs in the past 6 months, is this still an ok option? And is it balanced with the other components? 2. I'm a Chrome fiend and tend to keep lots of tabs/applications open so I'd love >16GB of RAM. I've put 32GB in but I'd be happier with 24GB - is that a thing you can do? Is it reasonable, or just worth sticking to 32GB? 3. I think it'd be cool to go AM5, but is there a better alternative in terms of CPU (and therefore motherboard) with similar performance that's more price-efficient? Happy to go older (eg. AM4 or Intel), I probably won't be upgrading for a while. 4. I need a keyboard - I think a mechanical one would be good, but I'm not sure which. I'm very used to laptop membrane keyboards and actually don't mind them, but I think mechanical would be an improvement. I'd want something reasonably quiet, not too sure what other variables there are to keyboards. Thanks so much in advance for any help! I really appreciate it.
  3. Thanks for the advice! I've made some changes. I think I probably will go mechanical on the keyboard, and I'll do some case research.
  4. Hi Budget (including currency): ~$2100 AUD Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Civ VI, Minecraft (hopefully including large kitchen sink modpacks), very occasional video editing, potentially Microsoft Flight Simulator (probably a bit into the future) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): - Already have a monitor I'll use as a second monitor - Have a 2TB 2.5" SSD for game drive/other storage - I've got a Logitech M590 mouse (and love it!) - It'd be nice to go to 1440p and 120Hz+ (taking Linus' advice), but if I'm stuck at 1080p in the budget that's not the end of the world - Upgrading from a Dell Inspiron 15 7570 (i7-8550U, 16GB RAM, GeForce 940MX), so this'll make a huge difference (I think) - Current PCPartPicker list is https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/TLskXy Main things I need help on: 1. With my selections so far I've tried to go good quality but not too expensive - have I done OK with the filter criteria? I'm not super sure what I'm doing 2. I need a motherboard, and I really have no idea what I should be looking for. I guess my criteria would be: good number of USB-A ports, bluetooth, a USB-C (or Thunderbolt but that's probably pushing it) port [on the case would be fine], wifi would be nice but not absolutely essential, NVME M.2 slot 3. I also need a case - is that something I should just take the time to do research on myself? I'd probably want something not super massive, and that looks somewhat nice 4. Lastly, I'll need a keyboard - I don't think I've ever used a mechanical keyboard and don't mind laptop/cheap office keyboards, how much better is a mechanical one? I'd probably want one that isn't super loud. Thanks so much in advance for any advice/recommendations! EDIT: Have changed RAM & PSU, so new link.
  5. Thanks very much for the advice - got a new (and bigger, which is nice) SSD, and it's running great.
  6. Hi I'm running a Dell Inspiron 7570 with a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. The SSD seems to be working fine, but this morning the HDD, seemingly out of nowhere, has decided to be unrecognisable to the system. I restarted the laptop and the error persisted, and then ran (through Dell's software) a short SMART test, which came up with the result of hard drive failure. I've powered it off and am cautious about starting it up just in case I cause more damage to the hard drive. I'm just wondering is there anything I can do to troubleshoot it, or should I be looking to get a new laptop/hard drive? It's getting pretty old so I've been thinking about replacing it anyway. The HDD's model is ST1000LM035 (I think). Thanks in advance!

  8. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Very useful.
  9. Terraria, modded minecraft, maybe rocket league (im not sure if this classifies as light). Hope that's a bit clearer. EDIT: Sorry forgot to tag @DrMacintosh
  10. I need a laptop for school and I also want to run some games on it, so I want a discrete GPU. Does anyone have a suggestion? My budget is about $1760AUD (1340USD), and a metal casing is a must. Thanks in advance.
