  1. Hey guys, I was watching New Egg and saw the 8600k in stock, so I pulled the trigger. I want to thank everyone for their opinions, I don't post here very often, but you have all been very helpful in my decision-making process. I hope ultimately this turns out to be the right choice in the long term, and if it's not, I guess there's always next build a few years down the road from now, right?
  2. Thanks, that's my thinking so I'm glad to hear I'm not crazy lol. A better cooler with the i7 falls out of my budget, and the last thing I want is to have to deal with thermal issues, especially since this is my first time building. I'm also assuming that a lot of the performance bumps seen in graphs are because they are mainly being compared to the 8400 and not the 8600k, and the i7 is winning out not on hyper threading but on a higher stock clock.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I'm curious, what's your reasoning for the recommendation? Is it just diminishing returns?
  4. Would cooling be ok though? I hear the i7 has high temps even on stock, and I'm worried my cooler won't cut it.
  5. Thanks! They aren't yet, so playing the waiting game has been kind of hard, haha. Oh, I forgot about that. I'll edit the OP. I'm running a 1080p monitor, and I plan on getting a 1080p @ 144hz monitor, but specifically to play CS: GO and Overwatch. 60fps is fine on other games for me.
  6. Hi there, This is my first computer build, and I was wondering if I should choose an 8600k or 8700k processor. I will be mainly using the PC for gaming. I have a feeling that the i5 is the smart buy here, but I wanted to ask people that probably know more than I do if I'm making the right call. My GPU is a GTX 970 (however I will be upgrading to a higher-end GPU soon) and my CPU cooler is a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. Additionally, I plan on getting a 1080p 144hz monitor, where the refresh rate is mainly for CS: GO and Overwatch. 60fps is fine to me for other games. The reason I'm second guessing myself is because I'm seeing a lot of recent builds that implement the i7, and I'm wondering if this is people just getting the best because they can, or if this is actually a buy that makes sense for a gaming workload. Thanks!
  7. Hi everyone, Been kind of going crazy with this recently. Can someone recommend a pair of (preferably on the cheaper side) Bluetooth earbuds with no audio latency? I've found from the headphones I've used, there is always a very slight delay between what happens on screen and the sound coming out of the earbuds, making watching videos impossible. I've tried headphones on my desktop PC running Windows, my late-2016 MacBook Pro, and my iPhone 6s, and the delay is present while connected to all of those devices. Thanks to anyone that could point me in the right direction, I'm not very savvy when it comes to audio, and the prospect of getting stuck with an expensive pair of earbuds that have these audio latency issues is a scary one.
