  1. So here's the deal: Fresh 2-day old Windows 10 installation on an SSD. Also got a linux installation on a different SSD. Thankfully I keep most of my files and games on other HDDs. I wanted to use bluestacks, so I needed to enable virtualization. I have a ryzen 3 2200G (other specs not that relevant: 12GB RAM, RX 580). I go to BIOS, enable SVM. PC will not boot, hangs on windows loading for ages and ages. Fine, to hell with it, I disabled SVM. Actually I reset BIOS later on too. But now Windows refuses to work properly. It will take around 20 minutes to boot, always saying something about repairing a drive (Scanning and repairing drive (D:): 100% complete) (it is always at 100% and also D is not the installation drive) or just loading. It will take 20 minutes to do a restart, and the shut down option just straight up does't work so I use the power button. Now the only logical thing to do is to use the installation media to do a repair or re-install. However, using the exact same installation media that worked perfectly fine when I first installed windows, it will now refuse to work and hangs on a blue screen with a movable cursor. Meanwhile, the Linux installation on the other drive works perfectly well. Seriously any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Huh, sucks if that's true. You probably right since I don't get an option (right click > open app with intel HD) like in my other laptop.. thanks anyway
  3. yeah its soldered, anyway i edited my question, sorry for not being very clear. I was wondering how to switch to intel HD
  4. I am well aware the ATI gpu is dead. That was not the question though
  5. well first of all I got it for free not long ago, and it's not really that bad. It won't be for me anyway. For the basic use I need it for,it runs very smoothly
  6. Hey guys I was given this samsung laptop , model R540. It wasn't working and I came to the conclusion that the "external" ATI GPU was fried. (nothing shows up on screen). I couldn't really do anything so I used a heat gun to try to revive it and apparently it works just fine for now. However, this probably won't last forever so I want to find a more permanent solution. Now I'm pretty sure the i3 it has includes integrated graphics, but there is no option in BIOS to force intel HD instead of ATI. It's a bit odd since a different laptop I had with a fried external GPU, was able to boot and work with basic graphics with the standard vga driver. Any ideas how I can get it to work for good? I mean, switch to internal GPU somehow, I know the ATI one is dead.
  7. I tried installing the atheros driver, and it says please insert adapter ... help
  8. Turns out, the extra unknown device was from hidden. So I unchecked show hidden and didnt take them into account. I did what you said to the one remaining, but unfortunately its a bluetooth driver...
  9. Hey!I tried doing what you said, looking for the exact model, well.... I was certain that I have realtek because that's what it said before and that's what it says in my BIOS, but toshiba's page for my exact model believes otherwise. It says it has atheros... So . what could be going on here? Then again I dont trust toshiba they are messed up. Should I try installing atheros or will that make matters worse
  10. I have a weird problem. I just replaced my broken hard drive on a toshiba satellite laptop (C660-2QU). Upon installing windows 7, internet would not work at all. I thought fine, I'll just install wlan drivers and it will work. (both lan and wlan dont function) However, I cannot find the specific model at all on toshiba's website, nor any drivers for it. I know its realtek so I tried installing the general drivers they have in the C660 page. It extracted the files, asked me for permission, I said yes, and then nothing happened. The installation didnt continue. I googled this problem and found a workararound. I just extracted the files without running automatically, then went to the folder in which they were extracted and started the installation of the realtek drivers. I thought, now ti will work for sure. Welp, drivers installed SUCCESSFULLY, as it said, still internet doesn't work... What am I supposed to do? Note: Wlan device appears on BIOS Two unknown devices appear on task manager, idk which one is the wlann There is no network adapter in device manager at all
  11. Long time has passed, just wanted to let you know and everyone thanks for the help. everything worked out surprisingly good. Downlocking wasn't a problem, simply one of the memory slots on laptop were broken. I spared a single 4gb Stick. Popped the ssd. Installed win7 64bit. His laptop is literally as smooth as my pc now except for games Thanks again
