  1. Thanks for that bit of info as well on the processors and graphics cards.
  2. Herman Mcpootis, thanks bro! I will take your post and run with it, I appreciate your time and effort!!!
  3. Really didn't think someone would take my introduction joke to the topic so serious... it was literally meant as an "ice breaker" since I feel like anyone that knows about LTT forums should know how to build their own computer... Literally looked at it as a joke to bring people in... sorry I offended you. I am fully capable of making my own build, researching and perfecting it. Thing is, I would rather have multiple opinions on a 2.5k+ investment. My bad that my joke was in poor taste. Sorry.
  4. themctipers, very good questions that I did not even think to talk about. I am not SO concerned about 4k, I am more concerned about AT LEAST 144hz or better for the frame rate. If 4k and 144hz is possible then so be it. Lets just say this, I am comfortable gaming on a Radeon HD 5570... "anything" is going to be amazing, but, 144hz is a minimum for me. gsync, i have no clue, I assume my build will be a single graphics card, though if some one can provide a dual graphics card build with the budget that has a gsync monitor as well, I guess I would need it. RGB isnt an issue and would actually be a "downgrade" since I love to watch shows in bed while trying to sleep. RGB would be distracting, but... RGB would be soooo sik so, no emphasis put on RGB, but if its there... ill make use of it to impress my non-existant friends.... Got me? Forgot this part, I would be looking for a SSD and a new HD. Sorry that I didnt include this in my original reply. I am looking for an SSD capable of holding win10 as well as about 4 modern games. Guestimated number but, ?2?gig ssd with a 1 terra hard. Sorry, I don't comprehend. My apologies, its probably obvious and im just a derp I don't see any "permalink"
  5. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ (I really shouldnt link this since anyone needed the link probably doesnt have information I want... but, for everyone's convenience.) 1. Budget & Location $2,500 USD (located in the continental US) 2. Aim Priority gaming at 144+ FPS (dependent on if I purchase a 144hz or higher monitor with budget) 3. Monitors I would like for my main 144/240/what ever Hz monitor to be at least size comparable to a 24 inch. I am not opposed to a "SUPER" wide screen monitor that I can use as a 2-monitor in 1 setup) Dual monitor setup is required. I may even triple monitor if I have the available display ports. I own 2 1080p 60hz monitors currently. I will be purchasing AT LEAST a 144 Hz monitor (i could buy a 240 or what ever, it just depends on price vs performance, but don't want to settle with a lower quality if 240 is a noticable upgrade) with this 2500 USD budget, then looking at upgrading to a 2nd down the line. (My concerns that I would love to be answered would be... I plan on running the 144+ as my main monitor, will any issues arise with using the 60Hz monitors as my 2nd and possible 3rd monitor arise? I realize that the more monitors I add, the more I tax my graphics card. I am looking to know things like, are they even compatible, and, will I see a significant frame loss on my main gaming monitor if I have 1 or 2 other 60hz monitors running as well, given WHAT EVER build you concoct with my 2500 USD.) 4. Peripherals Kb/M/Headset will not be part of the budget. I plan on acquiring a copy of windows. so, this part of the build is 0. 5. Why are you upgrading? I have a 2009 pre-build... nuf said yeah? My goal is to be upgraded, up, running, situated at least 1 day prior to MHWorld release for PC.... My build is shit, my tower cant be reused because the USB ports are fucked. Though, if there is a cheap fix to USB ports, my tower is amazing and will support 3 radiators along with 3 fans. Though, I would prefer a new case. (USB problem is that I only have 3 working USB ports with 6 available ports. Dont know why they dont work, cant be assed.) Also, I would prefer to use this tower as a secondary computer that I use for ... "Research purposes" ..... Things to note, MHWorld PC isnt scheduled to be released until q3 2018, so, if you guys know of an upcoming hardware release that is worthwhile to wait for, I will take that into account (much like the skylake to coffee lake wait). Also, if your recommendation is to wait until the last minute, assume a 200 dollar per month savings added to the budget. So, in that aspect, if you are willing, the 2 budgets are $2500 (now) $3500 in July. If you take the time to think about a build that I can make if I save up until the last minute, could you please provide a brief explanation of the benefits? IE, "DUDE YOU CAN GET A 1080 RIGHT NOW, BUT IF YOU WAIT, YOU CAN GET A 1080Ti!!!!!" Thank you in advance! Thanks to the LTT community that we all love and go to for all our needs. You guys are the best! Also, thank you to Linus, if it werent for him... I would still be in the stone age not knowing the difference between skylake and coffee lake, thinking "what, i7 is an i7, who cares if it floats in the sky or drinks coffee" <3 everyone
  6. Def, these builds are definitely giving me ideas for what i want to do with my next rig.
  7. Thank you all for your responses. Wasn't actually aware of this 'coffelake' release either. Id be saving money as I go and putting spare into getting this computer. I'm seeing a lot of common components for sure, though from everyone's advice it seems like wait and see what hardware drops by time im willing to make my purchase. @DocSwag, your advice was probably the best out of anyones in a realistic POV. I'll def keep in mind the cheaping out part in order to prepare myself better for my own future. I do 100% agree with you, though, i'm not known for my smart actions AKA getting a raise and first thinking about a new gaming PC. While I agree with your suggestion, this isn't an opportunity to finally spend some money on my own fun that i'd want to pass up. (my 2010 rig was only 640 dollars and was an upgrade from a machine that pulled 5 fps in WoW low graphics raids. So, ive yet to have a "serious" rig. As far as the lay-off part, it is highly unlikely for me to get layed off from a grocery retail dept manager position. Short of the company selling the store location, which my chain isnt known for doing, nor have they done in this area in the 25 years ive lived in the area (and who knows how long prior) Also, while my initial plan isnt overclocking, I dont exactly want to cheap out on a cpu cooler or a graphics card with decent cooling options and remove my possibility to learn how overclocking works.
  8. Hey, as the title says, I have a 2010ish pre-built.... graphics card I have is a AMD Radeon 5570, processor is a cool AMD Athlon II 4core 640 processor at 3 GHz... 4gb of "brand name ram" (we all know what that means). The MOBO is some terrible iBuyPower pre-build dual RAM slot mobo (obviously its not a ibuypower brand mobo, but we know ibuypower uses shit mobos for budget prebuilts) I am also in late 2017 using an unknown speed 1tb hard drive as my main drive..... No SSD at all... Also, all my USB ports are basically borked to the point that only my KB and my Mouse actually register... My 2 ports I use for cam and phone connection stopped working... I've been using this build since roughly 2011 (but it was a 2009/2010 prebuilt release) and I have made amazing use out of it. It plays every game I like playing in 1080p at low settings with 30-60 fps depending. Obviously everyone here cringed so hard their backside turned inside out, but, its going strong for me even now. That brings me to the point of this post, I just got a hot new raise that is going to allow me to bank 400-500 a month from the raise, then an additional 150 if I budget my spending (pfft who does that). So, my rig is doing me fine to be able to save up for "top of the line" hardware, though I don't want to build ignorantly expensive things with trash performance for cost... EG, im not looking to run a 4-way gpu set up. I am looking to build this myself, I am looking to be able to be 4k compliant at AT LEAST 60 fps. 1080p atleast 144 fps (looking to upgrade to a 144 hrtz monitor as my main monitor or a 240 if the community tells me its just tooooooooo good to pass up. I plan to run 2 monitors at a minimum, I only plan on buying 1 144+Hz monitor and using my existing 60hz monitors as a 2nd or 3rd. (please tell me why this is a bad idea or if it will work, i dont plan on playing a game on one monitor and a game on another) Basically, I havnt spent money on myself in a fun big way on hardware in a long time, im looking to go all out and celebrate. I want this thing to last a while, obviously im OK with sacrificing performance 8 years down the line for a computer that holds up for a decade. But, I want a beast for the next year or 2, then a champ for a bit... ya know. I am NOT looking to do custom water cooling. This is my FIRST PC build, though im not retarded. If possible please toss me a decent PC partpicker with comments about any hardware to watch out for in the next few months (obviously ill also do my due research come time, i just want some feedback if yall dont mind) I dont really care about RGB, but, i guess if its like, 30-40 dollars total extra, ill mess with it. I am looking for tempered glass on one side, ofc. Both sides is fine but the parts side is all I care about. Thank you for anyones help, thank you for their reading any of this.. a PCPartPicker build would be most helpful if youre willing. 1. Budget & Location About 2.5k USD as a cap, though anything cheaper would be cool since I know once you pass like 1.5k, youre spending your money really ignorantly... United States. 2. Aim Gaming, Youtube, Twitch watching / occasional streaming, video streaming. I plan to game and watch twitch or youtube at the same time like any normal person now days, which any modern processor is capable of (since the one i have currently is ......) Twitch streaming is a backburner, but i'd like to start streaming everything I play in hopes of hitting the lottery of gaining a following. 3. Monitors Planning on running a minimum of 2 monitors, but I would love to have 3 monitors if that is possible with 1 graphics card. I have 2 60hz monitors atm im running at 1080p both. I plan on buying a 144+hz monitor and am looking for suggestions. Dont care about curved screen or super wide screen. I have a table and desk so space isnt an issue. Id love to see the GPU have 3x HDMI ports or thunderbolt or w/e is hot now days, though I can deal with one or 2 of the monitors being on older connection mediums. 4. Peripherals I will buy my peripherals on my own as needed, I also am comfortable acquiring windows on my own, so neither are put into the budget. 5. Why are you upgrading? My rig basically stopped receiving driver updates in 2010.... I got a raise and i wanna blow money on myself for once. Nuf said. I wont be doing any rendering or workstation like processes. I just want a bigger e-peen and wanna stop having to play basic games on low graphics in order to get good performance...l (also i want a good SSD that I can fit the OS and maybe like, 3 games or so on it. Though if a cheap dollar per storage SSD is out there that fits like 6 decent games on it, im open... I can do my own research and downgrade if needed) Lets be realistic, I suck at saving money so this is likely a build I will do in Febuary once taxes come back. So, feel free to tell me "hey idiot, just wait to see what releases until then"
