  1. Ok so I recently started messing around with the build to see if I can legitimately fix it before buying new parts again, and I was wondering if the Event Viewer could give me some insight on what happens when it actually locks up. Is there anything in here other than "Kernel-Power" logs that I could use to figure out what is causing my issue? All of these `Kernel-Power` errors get logged immediately after I soft-reset my build after it locks up.
  2. Yeah no that's the thing I'm kinda skeptical on whether it would actually be the thing that's affecting my system right now
  3. Yeah I thought that it should have been fine since its far from anything hot so saying that I'm at a bit of a loss is an understatement.
  4. A month ago or so, I posted that I was having problems with my computer, with the fact that games such as XCOM2, Rainbow Six Siege and Destiny 2 seem to constantly lock up the whole computer until it resets itself or I press the handy-dandy reset button on my case. I took my build to Memory Express, gave up my dignity and paid them to have a look at it, and a week after, they said that the build was fine, however my 1tb old hard drive which I had used beforehand for storage was throwing CRC errors, and I took it to heart that I needed a new drive. So, out goes the laptop HDD for games and stuff, in comes a Samsung 860 EV0 1TB SDD for OS storage as well as the games mentioned above. I duplicate a 500GB hard drive with Win10 already installed to the 1TB SSD, play games on it, and all is well for a few weeks. Until now. All three games are back to randomly locking up my entire build during use, and I don't think it's a brand new hard drive that will solve my problem. I hadn't noticed it before but there seems to be a small crack in my motherboard, close to the RAM slots, and I've been wondering if this tiny crack could have been the cause of my problems, considering my problems were somehow fixed for a while before all of this by reapplying the CPU and adding more thermal paste, which didn't make sense to me at the time. Attached is the image of the crack on the motherboard. I highly doubt it could be a compatibility issue with any of my parts, unless it is, in which case, feel free to shout at me wrong.
  5. Yeah, I've been told the same thing by some other people I know. Also, to clarify, when you said "to turn on the machine and access BIOS to reset", you meant "get to the BIOS menu and reset CMOS to default", right? EDIT: Just reset CMOS, redid test, resetting each time, and nothing out of the ordinary. So, it's either I'm doing something wrong, or I need to replace something.
  6. Test is done, and I've managed to access the BIOS with both sticks, so RAM isnt the problem, and like I said, I had already updated the BIOS to the newest version for my board which is 2006, dated 11/13/2019 So, now I'm fresh out of ideas again.
  7. Everything except the 1050 and the 2TB SSD is brand new, and I assumed that it could have been a BIOS issue earlier on, so I updated it as well but nothing happened so I posted here. But I will reply the results once I finish the test.
  8. So, its not the hard drive, although it did give a longer usage before it still crashed and burned. I had a spare drive with a fresh Win 10 install, reinstalled said games, tried out one and I was able to play longer, however the crash still happens.
  9. I'll do that in the near future, like I said, I don't have any spares around. For now, I'll try with a new drive and Windows install, won't lose much either way so might as well.
  10. Okay, so it's definitely not just the GPU, as with the integrated Vega graphics, it still hard crashed. I think I might be running out of options at this point.
  11. While I try unplugging the 1050, I should also probably mention that the GPU doesn't have a connection *from* the PSU, it runs off the motherboard only. Don't know if that little bit of info was crucial
  12. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare GPU lying around, but will the Ryzen integrated graphics do?
  13. I just finished building my first PC which has: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($110.75 @ shopRBC) Motherboard: Asus PRIME B450M-A/CSM Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($80.28 @ Vuugo) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($89.99 @ Memory Express) Storage: Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2 TB 2.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($158.83 @ Amazon Canada) Storage: Seagate BarraCuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($52.75 @ Vuugo) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 2 GB SC GAMING Video Card ($706.30 @ Amazon Canada) Case: Thermaltake H200 TG RGB ATX Mid Tower Case ($86.05 @ Vuugo) Power Supply: Corsair VS 450 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($54.23 @ Vuugo) Case Fan: Corsair HD120 RGB 3-Pack w/Controller 54.4 CFM 120 mm Fans ($99.99 @ Amazon Canada) Total: $1439.17 And after installing Windows 10, updating every driver, I downloaded some games, and the ones I ran were XCOM 2, Borderlands 2, Rainbow Six Siege and Destiny 2. Save for Borderlands 2, every other game I played would crash my PC. No BSOD, nothing. It would freeze everything, and if I didn't force shutdown the PC it would stay frozen for however long. I even tried playing music to see if it was a normal crash, but it froze everything, even the music. I've read a few of the posts on the forums, and most of what I've read has said that the PSU could be the problem, however I don't know if that is the case for me. Has anyone had this issue? EDIT: I also just downloaded AIDA64 and CPU-Z to do benchmarks, but I'm unsure of what to run as well?
  14. This kind of makes sense; I was too focused on cutting corners in places such as the graphics card and the case. Thank you!
  15. I had almost the exact same list, but I scrapped it due to my unnecessarily tight budget.
