I bought my first IPS monitor (Gigabyte M27Q). It sits right next to a TN one (BenQ GL2250) that I've been using for many years.
I'm running it at 1440p 165hz
G-Sync (compatible) on
Display Port 1.2
Profile: sRGB
First thing I noticed during a dead-pixel check is the sides. They show something like chromatic aberration (not sure that's the term) which I don't mind cause under normal use it's not very visible. The problem seems enhanced in these pictures cause of my phone's camera focus. (Pictures 1 and 2)
My issue is with text. Those 2 colors translate to every piece of text on the screen and makes it look not as sharp. It's like a halo around letters that I don't see in 2 TN panels I have. Again, excuse the focus. (Pictures 3 and 4)
For reference, this is how "New tab" looks in my TN panel. (Picture 5)
Another thing I'm not a fan of is the uniformity of the light. It's not the backlight itself, more like a viewing angle thing. The sides look dimmer. Is that why some people buy curved 27" monitors? (Pictures 6 and 7)
I tried the other 2 HDMI ports and going back to 60Hz but it won't look better.
