  1. just my luck man i don't even have another system to test if my cpus are good. I had a 4th gen i5 but i seem to have lost it, I only have a 2nd and 3rd gen i3.
  2. tried both mobos with known good psu and stick of ram, my hyperx keyboard doesn't power up at all. My off brand keyboard lights up but caps lock doesn't light up. Asus board and my original 4790 were working fine for over 2 years but 2 weeks ago it just stopped booting. The psu was pulled from a working dell optiplex that i upgraded the psu in to turn into a plex server. The ram came from my mom's PC that i upgraded the ram in and was able to keep the old sticks. The intel board and my 2nd 4790 were both bought from ebay as "tested working" so that could be sketchy but original 4790 in the asus board with known good psu and nothing else plugged in still no boot. I'm not sure if the intel board has the latest bios but the asus board was working with the 4790.
  3. Need help diagnosing my Fiancee's pc that won't boot, I don't even get a bios screen. I've tried two different motherboards, an Asus B85M-G, and an Intel DH87RL. I've tried two different CPUs, both intel 4790 non-K. I've tried two power supplies, a cooler master 550-watt and a 250-watt unit from a dell optiplex. I've tried 4 different known good sticks of ram, with all slots populated, 2 slots populated, and only one slot populated (switching between each stick of ram). I've tried booting with and without a GPU, an RX580, and I get no video from the GPU or from the integrated GPU. I get a "sufficient power" led from the GPU too, the led would be red if it wasn't getting enough power. I've tried booting with all my peripherals plugged in and with only the 24-pin and 4-pin CPU plugged in. I get no error beeps or led flashes. Booting with no ram will trigger the error beeps and led flashes but otherwise, I get no errors. If there's anything else I should try or something I'm missing please let me know, all help is appreciated. I've tried clearing cmos by removing the battery for a period of time, I even tried booting without a cmos battery. I've even tried using the outlet my pc is using to see if it was a bad outlet but still nothing.
  4. I just realized something, with my xfinity modem/router in bridge mode this will disable it's own wifi network right? Is there a way to keep the xfinity modem/router giving a wifi signal while still allowing the TP link managed switch and multiple access points to work in the way i have displayed? The xfinity modem/router is going to be the only device upstairs and all the other access points will be downstairs so preferably it could handle wifi for upstairs devices will these new access points handles devices downstairs.
  5. So i'm trying to deploy ethernet and wifi throughout my newly remodeled house. I made two basic diagrams in ms paint showing how my current internet is setup and what i want to deploy. I used pictures of the access points i plan on purchasing so hopefully someone can confirm to me that this will all work properly in the way i plan to deploy it. Also a note about the multiple access points providing wifi, multiple are required since each room is 2 foot concrete on all 4 sides and signal from an access point put in that room will not reach outside it.
  6. well it was better than saying "just cuz"
  7. play fortnite in class without my fans screaming
  8. So recently my friend brought up a classic LTT video where they watercooled a mac but submerging the bottom shell in water after covering the ports. This gave me an idea, could you possibly submerge the whole bottom portion (everything under the display) of a laptop in mineral oil for cooling without killing it? Video in question:
  9. well then how does streaming on something budget like a 1050ti compare? And how does shadowplay compare to obs? I wouldn't want to give up too much from switching from obs to shadowplay. (pls make a video linus)
  10. idk some kind of blu-ray player
  11. So i think we've all seen the "old i5" or "old i7" with a 1050ti or 1030 that can game. Or the "console killer" and "cheap 4k" etc etc. But what i want to see, hopefully in the form of a video from linus, is a video about price to performance, pc vs ps4, in terms of gaming WHILE streaming. Yeah a 1050ti and an i5 can outperform a ps4, but where is my "dual xeon, cheap 8 core, streaming build"? Because when i look for "cheap cpus for streaming" i'm recommended i7s, ryzen 7s, and sometimes overclocked ryzen 5s. All too expensive to stream and game at 1080p 60 fps for less than a ps4. Am i the only one who thinks the ps4 is, dare i say, reasonable in price compared to a pc when you consider gaming while streaming? pls help linus.
