  1. Hello LTT forum! In a few months time I will be moving to a new apartment complex, and I'm planning to change some things in my current build to make it more "silent". I've already decided on PSU, chassi and cooling. However, I would also like the GPU to be as silent as possible during both idle and load scenarios. Do you guys have any recommendations for a silent-ish GPU? I'm going for the 1080 Ti. I am aware that current prices on GPU's are insane, but I do hope they will drop in a few months time, otherwise I'll just have to pay that insane price.. Anyway, best wishes! I'm looking forward to hear from you guys!
  2. Thank you both for the information! WD seem to have what I'm looking for, at decent prices as well.
  3. Hello LTT forum! In a few months I'm moving into a new apartment, and I'd like to setup a small home server. I will mostly save pictures, recorded videos, documents and movies on it, so I'm not looking for anything BIG. Since I'm a complete novice to this topic, I hope you guys could assist me in getting started. I'm looking forward to hear from you guys! Best wishes!
  4. Gday mate! Something that is pretty common these days are of course sleeved PSU cables. Since your build seem to follow the black and white path, I'd like to suggest that you get some sleeved cables that follow the same colour coordination as the rest of your build. If you don't like the whole RGB sickness that seems to be very common these days, you could always add a single strip of white LEDs to really show of the internals of your computer
  5. Gday EdoSens! It sounds like you might have a dead motherboard on your hands. Since there is no sign of life, it would appear that there is some kind of power issue. You don't have a backup PSU somewhere that you can try to use? If not my best guess would be that your motherboard might indeed be dead. But my suggestion would be, try installing a new PSU into your computer and see if that helps. Otherwise you may have to get a new motherboard. I don't want to worry you, but if the PSU died, it may have killed other components as well. Hopefully it didn't and I hope you can resolve this issue!
  6. Gday lads, or gals! A few days ago I noticed something strange going on with my computer, more specificly, I noticed something strange whilst playing games. I have this strange stuttering inside games. I've had no issues like this before, everything has been going rather smooth actually. But a little while ago, I received a new motherboard, a new chassi alongside a new PSU and a new CPU cooler (since the old one I had was not doing a good job) After I installed my new motherboard into my new case, I procceded with installing my old CPU and the CPU cooler aswell as installing my GPU. Everything seems good so far, I checked the BIOS just in case, but everything was fine here, my CPU was detected alongside my RAM and all of my storage devices. I then installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 and installed all drivers neccessary. Before I started to install games to test out some benchmarks I wanted to see that my thermals was OK. My CPU whilst idle have a temp of 28-30 degrees celcius on all of its cores, and my GPU is sitting on a nice 30-35 degrees (my GPU use Twin Frozr technology so the fans only start spinning at around 60 degrees C) At this point I thought to myself, "well everything seems fine" so i procceeded with installing a couple of games. I started out with Thief (2014) and started the in-game benchmark. It was at this point I noticed the sutters. I let the benchmark finish and everything seemed "fine" in terms of FPS etc. Just to make sure the benchmarking wasn't at fault, I started a New Game, and immediately noticed the stutters. I checked my GPU usage and temps, but everything seemed fine. I also tried to play some Warface (which is a Free-2-Play FPS, build on the Cryengine) and I got similar results here, stuttering stuttering and stuttering. GPU usage and temps were all fine. Since I'm not sure what's going on, I decided to ask you guys. What do you think could be the issue here? Just for your information, I'm playing in 1080p and my GPU and CPU is more than good enough to play in that resolution. This is the first time I've noticed issues like this.
  7. I'm currently using a PWN splitter and I can confirm that it does not affect fan speed. You can manualy change the fan curve within the BIOS if you like.
  8. Oh no, I haven't. I need to check this when I get back home (I'm currently at work)
  9. Gday lads! I have a small problem with one of my SSDs. I have two of them connected to my motherboard, both are detected by the BIOS and both can be found in the Device Manager. However the SSD I use for games/applications does not show up in Explorer. To clarify how I have them set up - SSD 240 GB (Boot device, Windows 10 install) SSD 500 GB (For games/applications) DOES NOT SHOW UP IN EXPLORER Is there something I've missed here?
  10. Hello LLT forum! Yesterday I received my brand new H105 AIO from Corsair. Since this is my first time dealing with AIO's i followed the instructions in the manual and everything appeared to be normal. However when the computer is on, the cooler is making this strange buzzing sound which is very audible, The AIO is connected to the CPU MB header, and both its fans are connected into PWN headers on the MB. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to remove this buzzing sound? EDIT : The cooler is doing a good job, all cores are sitting on 29-30 degrees celcius whilst idle.
  11. Hello Steffeh! I hope your father haven't planned any 1080p gaming with this rig. I doubt that he will have an enjoyable experience with this current setup. If you could get a dedicated GPU for 1500-2000 Swedish kronor, you would see a much better performance gain. Something like a GTX 960 supports 4K in theory, and goes for around 1800-1900 Swedish kronor.
  12. How much sound does Noctua fans create in comparison to Be Quiet?
  13. Gday fellow computer enthusiasts! With the new year just around the corner, i'm starting to plan on my next computer build. Let's call it "The Dark Knight" (yes i'm aware naming inanimate objects are lame) so the theme for this computer will be black/grey My budget for this build will be around 3000-3200 USD. Before we get down to business, i'm planning to start ordering the parts for the build in late March, and start building it in early/mid April. Since it will be some time before the actual building of the computer will start, this will give me plenty of time to plan this out, which is why I've come here asking for your help! This computer will be used as a pure gaming rig with awesome SILENT performance in mind, 1440p and even 4k gaming, there is no such thing as overkill. Getting a computer to be 100% silent is pretty hard, considering you would have to eliminate all moving parts, fans etc. But I'm looking for almost complete silence. Perhaps an AIO or something in that fashion. I'd also like to keep within the theme with black/grey parts. A modular PSU is also a most since I'm thinking of getting custom sleeved cables in black/yellow *cough* CableMod.com *cough* So to start my planning, could the more experienced of you put together a PC parts list for me? This list will serve as a framework for me to build/plan my computer around. Thoughts and ideas will be much appreciated. No peripherals are needed. Unfortunately I cannot go over budget, so I'd like to keep within the 3000-3200 USD range. I'm patiently waiting your answers! EDIT - How would a ATX versus a mATX compare in terms of performance? Any thoughts?
  14. I just found out that the store i'm planning to buy from, does NOT offer Dominator Platinums in sets of 4 in a single kit. If I want the intended RAM i'll need to buy 2 kits, since they only come in sets of 2. Any suggestions?
