  1. Supposedly this is supposed to fix framerate and pop in issues. So I tried installing the Play Disc to my USB drive, but when I try to play it, it still asks fro the disc to be inserted. Did I do something wrong? Has anyone else done this? I figured i would be able to run the game from the USB drive without needing the disc.
  2. Oh I bought it used, so it didn't come with stock thermal paste. I used some kind of cooler master paste, don't remember what kind but it wasn't very expensive.
  3. I have an X6 1100T with the stock fan and heat sink, and everytime I start playing a game, the fan goes full blast and makes so much noise. I know the stock fan is a noisy piece of crap from reviews, but is it normal for CPU fans in general to go on full blast while playing games?
  4. I got an 1100T because I started out with a Lenovo H405 pre-built rig, which had an AM3 socket. So I figured the cheapest, most effective upgrade was an 1100T, until I bought it and found out the motherboard wouldn't support a 125w TDP. Then I bought a new mobo, which wouldn't support the custom Lenovo front panel connectors. Then I had to buy a new case, and before you know it I have a custom setup lol. So I have an AM3+ socket now, but I already bought the 1100T, plus I've read that the FX series was kind of a disappointment and in ways inferior to the Phenom II X6 series.
  5. I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 and upgraded my CPU from an Athlon II X2 255 to a Phenom II X6 1100T because I was mostly CPU bound in games. Should I expect much of an improvement? Or will I still be bottlenecked?
  6. Definitely don't plan an any over clocking with a budget board. I figured I'd get a good CPU cooler to be safe, and it's under a 2 year warranty from Newegg if it gives out on me, so I can always replace it until I can save up for a better one. I'll check out HWMonitor. Thanks for the advice!
  7. Phenom II X6 1100T @ 3.3 Ghz Stock CPU fan and heat sink Asrock 960gm U3/S3 Motherboard 500gb Western Digital HDD 7200 RPM As far as the case and memory I don't know off hand and I'm not at home to check. Just a $30 Raidmax case and 6GB on two crappy DIMMS I had laying around. The room is kept at about 72-74° F
  8. I'm a little confused. I'm trying to monitor my CPU temperature, but in BIOS it tells me that it idles at about 45°C and in Windows, CoreTemp says that it's idling at about 38°C. So why are there two different readings? Is one if them wrong? Which one should I go by?
  9. I recently took a PSU out of one build that was working just fine, and hooked it up to another one 5 minutes later. Plugged it in, checked and double checked all the cords and PSU switch, and got nothing. Took it out of the case and tried to start it and it was just dead. Can anyone help me explain this? The only thing I can think of is that at first I tried to connect this PSU to an Asrock 960gm u3s3 mobo that was inside a Lenovo H405 case, which has weird front panel connectors. The power button alone had a 13 pin connector, so I connected that to the 9 front panel pins on the motherboard and tried to power it on. Would that matter?
  10. Cool, thanks everyone. I appreciate your help. I had a 500w Coolmax PSU but it just stopped working 5 minutes after I took it out of one build and put it into this one. Can anyone explain that?
  11. I've been poking around different PSU threads and noticed that some people say the power recommendations GPU companies advertise is way too much. How accurate is this? Because I'm in the market for another PSU, and I'd like to know what to buy. GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 (500w Recommendation) CPU: Phenom II X6 1100T @ 3.3 Ghz (125w TDP) Storage: 500GB Western Digital 7200 RPM Motherboard: Asrock 960gm U3/S3 mATX Memory: 6 GB of crappy DIMMS I had laying around. 4 GB on keeping stick, 2 GB on the other. PC 1333 Based mainly on the power recommendations for my GPU and the TDP of my CPU, I was going to get a 600w PSU. Is that overkill. Would anything less be sufficient?
  12. Wow, thanks everyone for your help. I started out asking at Toms Hardware and was treated like a leper. I don't have a GPU at the moment, I took it out for that reason. But why the heck would my 500w Coolmax PSU just stop working all of a sudden? Is there any way you can somehow short out your unit by just transferring it from case to case?
  13. I recently paired an Asrock 960gm u3s3 motherboard with a Phenom II X6 1100T, and after I installed the setup and connected the 500w power supply, somehow it just gave out on me. That PSU was powering a different mobo and CPU literally minutes before, just fine, and somehow stopped working. So I was forced to use what seems to be labeled a 140w PSU, which I took out of a pre-built PC, to power my new rig. If my new CPU has a 125w TDP, will it be enough until I can get another PSU?
