  1. I built a desktop with these parts: SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SRA-F-O ATX Server Motherboard LGA 2011-3 Intel C612 Radeon Pro WX 5100 100-505940 8GB 256-bit GDDR5 Workstation Video Card SAMSUNG 32GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM Load Reduced DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Server Memory Model M386A4G40DM0-CPB Intel XEON E5-2620v4 Processor 3.0GHz Max Turbo / 8-Core / 20MB Cache It was working fine for a month or so, but then all of a sudden today it got really slow and I rebooted it and now it isn't turning on. It shows post code 67. It goes from 04 60 67. I switched the single 32GB of RAM into another DIMM and also learned the CMOS by shorting the JBT1 jumper. Any ideas? Help! Thanks.
  2. Even with 2016 Hitman at max settings @ 1080?
  3. My laptop is a 2017 MacBook i7. Y series processor and no active cooling. I am building a low powered NAS, that's the ultimate goal but once or twice a year I would like the ability to play those games, so I might pick up a graphics card to go do that.
  4. I appreciate your concern, however the replacement cooler is made by Supermicro, part number SNK-C0057A4L. Just figured I would put it here incase anyone was reading. I am a little concerned about clearance with the Lian Li PC-Q25 Case though.
  5. I am pretty dead set on picking up a SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SDV-4C-TLN2F-O Intel Xeon D-1521 Mini ITX Server Motherboard and going with a Lian Li PC-Q25 Case. I have read a lot of people are having issues with thermals on that board, since it is passively cooled, so I was going to swap out the factory heat sink and replace it with Supermicro Heat Sink with retention back plane (SNK-C0057A4L). It looks to be pretty low profile, but I just wanted to post here and ensure that unit will clear the power supply in the Lian Li case. Thanks,
  6. Honestly, I would be happy if I could play on high/max settings with over 30fps reliably. Are you sure I should spring for the GTX1060 6GB? I don't want to put something too powerful in when my CPU would most likely be the bottle neck.
  7. Gotcha, thank you. I see the minimum processor requirement for Hitman is a i5-2500K, which has 1000MHz increased clock speed over the D-1521 but no HyperThreading. The D-1521 has a higher passmark than i5-2500k as well (6473 vs 6980) but I don't know how well that reflects in gaming. I guess we will see how well Hitman 2016 scales across cores.
  8. I am building a NAS with a Xeon D-1521 processor (4c/8t, 6M Cache, 2.40-2.70 GHz). Here's my part list so far: SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SDV-4C-TLN2F-O Intel Xeon D-1521 Mini ITX Server Motherboard Lian Li PC-Q25 Case 16GB RAM MEM-DR416L-CV02-ER24 CORSAIR RMi Series RM650i 650W 80 PLUS GOLD Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM, 140mm PWM,AAO Frame Technology and SSO2 Bearing Fan Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-3000 PWM Fan with Focused Flow™ and SSO2 Bearing Supermicro Heat Sink with retention back plane (SNK-C0057A4L) As you can see I am putting a decent amount of cooling in there, I will be replacing the stock passive heatsink with one with a fan. I have never really been a big gamer, however I like to occasionally play these titles when I get nostalgic: Starcraft I (1998) Hitman: Codename 47 (2000) American McGee's Alice (2000) Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption (2000) Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002) Warcraft III (2002) Hitman: Contracts (2004) Hitman: Blood Money (2006) Alice: Madness Returns (2011) Hitman: Absolution (2012) I am fairly certain I will be able to easily run those titles, however I also would like to try Hitman (2016). Would I be able to run Hitman 2016 if I got a proper graphics card? Is there anyway I would be able to run it at 1080p on high settings? I never plaid this title, but I would like to try it out and have a good experience. What graphics card is recommended (if possible)? It has to be compact to fit in the Lian Li PC-Q25 Case. This will be my first build since 2008.
  9. SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SDV-4C-TLN2F-O Intel Xeon D-1521 Mini ITX Server Motherboard - $450 Case: Lian Li PC-Q25 - $110 MEM-DR416L-CV02-ER24 - $225 Power Supply: CORSAIR RMi Series RM650i 650W 80 PLUS GOLD - $120 Fans: 1x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM, 140mm PWM,AAO Frame Technology and SSO2 Bearing Fan - $28 1x Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-3000 PWM Fan with Focused Flow™ and SSO2 Bearing - $23 Supermicro Heat Sink with retention back plane (SNK-C0057A4L) - $35 Maybe add in a graphics card?
  10. I know this seems like a silly question, but I am building a low powered NAS. I was never really a gamer but sometimes when I get nostalgic I like to play older games like Hitman Codename 47, Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, American McGee's Alice, Starcraft I, Warcraft 3, Himan 2, Hitman Contracts, Hitman Blood Money, and Hitman Absolution (that being the newest one). Do you guys think it would be possible to play these games at a decent frame rate at 1080p on a D-1521 NAS with 16GB of RAM? What video card would be recommended for this (low power is preferable)? It would be super awesome if I could play 2016's Hitman (I never plaid it) on this, is there any way that would be possible?
  11. I am setting up a workstation for my friend. It is a Xeon E5 2620v4 with 32GB of RAM (ECC) - he owns a design studio with a lot of hardware doing engraving, printing, etc. he wants to run a RAID array in his computer. RAID 6 with 5 hard drives of 4TB each. He wants his employees to be able to access this. What is the best way to do this? How do you set up a RAID6 array under Windows 10? Or should it be dual booted or something like that? Thanks.
  12. Here's my part list for a low power Xeon NAS build (no HDDs yet), please critique it: Processor: Intel Xeon E3-1240L v5 - $311 Motherboard: ASRock E3C236D2I - $240 Case: Lian Li PC-Q25 - $110 Memory: Kingston ValueRAM 16GB (1 x 16GB) DDR4 2133 KVR21E15D8/16I - $196 Power Supply: CORSAIR RMi Series RM650i 650W 80 PLUS GOLD - $120 Heatsink: Noctua NH-L9i 92mm SSO2 - $40
  13. I checked those out but then I came across the Intel Xeon E3-1240L v5 with a 25W TDP. It beats the others out in terms of performance and TDP, am I correct?
  14. I want to build a Xeon NAS that can do Plex transcoding with a Mini ITX form factor. I really like the Lian Li PC-Q25 case. What motherboard and processor should I go with?
  15. I could spend like $200 or so I guess.
