Hi,
I'm currently looking into what ultra wide monitor to buy.
Till now, i was using a 27" 2560x1440 165 Hz IPS monitor since like 2 years. While the upgrade from my 24" 1920x1080 120 Hz VA monitor is almost overall great i can't really get used to the 1440p resolution.
Maybe it's because my eyes are going bad but reading text online on my 1440p monitor from ~70 cm away just wasn't comfortable from day one. i kept telling myself that i would get used to it and that 1440p is just "objectively" better then 1080p but now i must admit that i can't really just use it. i was setting the windows build-in resolution enlargement feature for almost the whole time at 150%.
So long story short: i want an ultra wide monitor with a 1080p resolution.
I want:
- 34 inch
- 2560x1080
- IPS
- 144 Hz
- G-sync (optional, since nvidia opens up to allowing freesync to be used with their cards)
Over the last days i was reading a lot of reviews, watching videos and browsing this subreddit to get an idea about what monitor to buy in the end. I'm still not sure to be honest. There seem to be more than just a few choices.
Especially the different testing methods used from different reviewers made it hard for me to get an understanding about what the gaming experience would be like for for example things like ghosting. (I think it's called ghosting in english. The phenomenon where the picture gets blurry when you turn quickly in first person shooters for example).
Currently i think my best choice would be the LG 34UC89G. Is there a better choice with the features i want? I really want the display to be as fast as possible when it comes to possible problems like ghosting. Ideally it should be almost as fast as TN Panels. But i don't want the image to overshoot to much (a little bit is fine) in fast paced moments with a to aggressive overdrive.
The price is no problem. I'm ready to pay much if i get a better monitor for it ;)
