  1. Then I will go with one of the Corsair coolers I mentioned. Thanks !
  2. Hello, I am going from a standard ATX build to a Small Form Factor(SFF) build and I am unsure what type of cooler to get. I am building the Phanteks Evolv Shift Air, my Ryzen 5 3600x is not overclocked and I don't plan on over clocking it. mostly used to play video games and do productivity stuff. I just want it to be able to take advantage of its full boost clock. I am trying to determine what my best cooling options would be, air vs AIO. I have been looking into the Noctua NH-L9i and Noctua NH-L9x65 for air cooling options and the Corsair H60 and H80i for AIOs. I would perfer air cooling for reliablity but again Im not sure if it would be adequte for the CPU, as Noctua has the coolers listed as compatible but not with enough headspace for the boost clock. Thank You in advance for any help you can provide !
  3. Here is the final update to this thread: I reflashed the BIOS, while in the BIOS this time, everything is now functioning correctly, I have no issues booting anymore. Thanks for the help, hope if anyone stumbles across this post it helps you!
  4. I'm gonna try re-flashing the BIOS tomorrow while in the BIOS and see if that helps clear things up because originally I had to do it with the button on the rear I/O, because after a few drivers restarts it "locked up" again will update after its been done.
  5. UPDATE: I just restarted it and cleared the CMOS twice, and all of a sudden it has decided to post. Do not know what I did but apparently, it worked, would still like to know what was going on if anyone knows, Thanks
  6. Hello, I received my new Ryzen 3600x CPU today and decided to get a high-end x470 board instead of immediately paying $400+ (plus who wants a noisy little fan on their board) for a higher-end x570 board, I am transferring from a Threadripper build. So my day has been riddled with issues, first I forgot that I would have to update the BIOS so the older board could support the new CPU ( it was giving me the error code 8_, I got the BIOS updated through the BIOS flash button on the rear I/O. Once I had got the BIOS update done I thought I should be good to go but now I am getting the error code 7A which in the Q-Code tables says "Reserved for future AMI DXE codes". I am not getting any video output and my keyboard is not even lighting up. Just looking for suggestions or fixes anyone else has figured out, specs of the build: ASUS Crosshair VII HERO, Ryzen 5 3600x, GTX 1080, 16GB of Trident Z RGB at 3000mhz, Boot drive is a WD Blue 500gb SSD, Storage Drives are M.2 WD Blue SSD and 2tb Seagate. Thanks for any help in advance.
  7. woohoo, it is fixed I can now use my PC again without my system essentially killing itself doing anything but light web browsing and it is actually going to turbo again ! appreciate all the help
  8. I would personally use an air cooler for a Ryzen 5 2600 it will be more consistent you don't have to worry about a pump dying, something I'm currently going through, if you're OC you should go with an AIO though I had a corsair one before I switched to Threadripper and I had absolutely no problems I 100% recommend their AIOs. but that Noctua cooler you mentioned is going to be super reliable and will get you some great temps without the need for additional fans or finding the space for a radiator, also make sure you check RAM height and case size before getting a large tower cooler like that

    New monitor

typically your system won't go above refresh rate if G-Sync is on, I have a 144hz monitor and my fps will cap in everything at around 144. G-Sync changes your monitors refresh rate to be equal of your framerate, so at 240fps your monitor is at 240hz and since it cannot go above without a monitor OC it caps there. Hope this answers your question!
  10. The fan bearing could be damaged I had an old, old case fan that had a wurring sound and its bearing was bad, I would recommend contracting Thermaltake support and telling them what's up especially if its a new power supply. Good luck and I hope your issue gets resolved If you decide on getting a different PSU I would recommend going with something from Corsair or EVGA I have 0 complaints about either of the PSUs I bought from them additionally they are typically fully modular
  11. Unfortunately, the issue returned a few hours after writing my last addition to this thread, I did, however, find that my cooler was more than likely the culprit as it is the Enermax liqutech TR4, which I would recommend avoiding, I assume this because of the fact that I was reading some other online reviews of it and many many people were saying that it was failing after a few months of use and that it was hell to get RMA from Enermax so I found the fractal design s36 for a replacement on Newegg and while it had some negative reviews about its pump durability I also read one that said that Fractal's customer service is great and they are happy to replace the AIO if it has issues, I thought about going wraithripper also but it was too tall for my case. again I appreciate all of the help with this issue and I will inform when my new cooler arrives about if it improves or the issue is the same.
  12. I applied new thermal paste and made sure all the cooler screws were nice and tight and it seems to be helping at the time of writing, I also was looking at Ryzen master and realized that the CPU voltage was unlocked and was auto pushing to 1.45 so I locked that, I appreciate all of the help
  13. I cleared the CMOS and that seemed to help with the insane clock speed reduction, but I'm still for whatever reason idling at 60c and when I run cinebench my clock speeds are still dipping, only to 3.2ghz from the standard core clock of 3.8-9ghz rather than to .60ghz, I will take your advice and check the thermal paste application tomorrow for any potential issues, Thank you for your help @Justinzonfire
  14. I have a threadripper 1900x in the MSI X399 SLI PLUS Motherboard, recently I've been having some seriously dropped frames in games, like Rainbow 6 siege and Apex Legends, at first I thought maybe my graphics card was potentially going to the farm upstate, but I did a cinebench run and my CPU is throttling itself down to .60ghz.... for no reason known to me as well as ideling at 60c + and every time I open a tab or file explorer in windows my case fans go ballistic. I overclocked it at one point but realized it was unnecessary and removed it I have 3 Noctua 1500rpm fans on my Enermax Liqutech TR4 and 3 Thermal take RGB fans. I am just out of my league here as I do not have a ton of experience with this type of thing and am concerned about this behavior my system is presenting I really just want to "factory reset" my CPU so that I can potentially fix these problems I really do not know what to do... If anyone knows how I can get it back to "factory settings" that would be fantastic and thank you in advance.
